Well the SAD day as finally come... Starting today I will not continue to update bonsai for Samsung Sprint Note 3. Currently I do not have the device in my possession, I have moved on to Samsung Sprint Note 4.

Sorry to all for not being able to push out a NEW bonsai Rom. I was hoping I could but ran into to many problems. Kinda sad about it.

The good news is if anyone has a note 4, Bonsai ROM will be coming soon. I hope to do a better job at supporting and providing timely updates to the ROM.

Thanks To ALL for your Support!!!

Considering I'm still waiting on my Note 4 Pre-order from Bestbuy that should give you plenty of time to get something cooked up ;):D

Appreciate you. Enjoy the new phone

Damn. This is the first year in about 8 where I won't be able to afford to upgrade. (It's a hobby I've allowed mys3lf as a reward for being a generally responsible adult, I buy a new flagship once a year. But I had a daughter about a year ago, so that's over. ;) )
Maybe I'll see ya in another year.

If anyone could be kind enough to try to help me I would greatly appreciate it. I realize this is old thread and the OP has moved on but I figured someone with more knowledge than I could assist me here. ...

So I personally have been running Bonsai_vo.o.2 on my Note3(love the rom MasterZen88) and it has run flawlessly for going on 2 yrs now..so a friend wanted a rom that the wifi hotspot would work on(bc on my version of Bonsai the mod isnt there).. So I recommended Bonsai Stable 1.0 , he was already running a stock rooted 4.4.2 rom...with TWRP recovery... So we downloaded the Zip, verified the md5, followed installation instructions performing the full wipe via Bonsai installation... Rom installs perfectly..except the WIFI will not connect.. we get error saying "connection is too slow..immediately followed by cannot obtain IP address" Which seems to be the main problem. We did multiple restarts, wipes, installed the rom a few times, downloaded another copy of bonsai Stable 1.0 ...still every time same results. And when we restore the back up, wifi works perfectly fine?

EDIT: After reading around the Note3 Android Dev Forum, I ran across this "Wifi Problems?" thing in Freeza's post....

"Due to "securestorage" being set to true in build.prop, changes to the ROM or kernel that aren't reflected in the ss_id file in /system/etc/secure_storage/.system.bin.wpa_supplicant/ can cause issues with WiFi among other things. "

Could this be the problem I'm experiencing?

Thanks for any help.

Well, I flashed the above "Wifi Problems" fix(from my above post) after the Bonsai Install, and it obviously wasn't designed to cooperate with this rom ;) , it wouldnt get past the Boot screen. Thank the android gods for back ups.

Please if anyone can take a moment to read my above post and offer some help...Although I'm sure he'd like to be using Bonsai, at this point if someone could even just point in the direction of a stable Stockish rooted rom with the WiFi hotspot mod that would also be cool. (But would much rather figure out a way to fix this cannot obtain IP address issue with the wifi connecting to the network) Thanks again.

Its probably due to the modem incompatibility. Bonsai is old . why not just use Galaxy Tools to enable hotspot on his previous 4.4.2 ROM?

You can try one of these, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727127 , if not flash Sacs n4 n3. Very stable rom with working hotspot

Thanks kstephens...I suspected the modem was the issue, but wasn't sure if that was the issue. Both of our Note3's are flashed to Boost and running jellybean(mj3?) modems due to Samsung's implementation of the imei certification feature on the kitkat modem. So unfortunately we can't go to the mj4 or above modem.

Anyways, tried the Galaxy Tool...Upon reboot, per the apps instructions...It actually worked, I thought we had the problem solved....the wifi hotspot was working and connected. But about, maybe thirty seconds or so after starting back up, a error message would pop up saying we needed a subscription to the service... disconnecting the wifi hotspot.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help out.

Thanks for the help bigboose... Gonna try this out and I'll get back to you, thanks for the referral on the rom too...if this doesn't work for him I'm sure he'll try it out...but like kstephans was saying...I hope the whole problem isn't due to the jellybean modem(mj3) that is being used. Because unfortunately we can't upgrade to newer modems due to it being flashed, as I mentioned above.

Hopefully this zip works though, I'll let you know. Thanks again.
