Found a hidden setting menu through apex launcher(cant get to it through s5 launcher) thought it was pretty neat and something to look into.

Well I guess Sprint didn't do a very good job of removing it then... Does it seem to work?

It doesn't work (same as the s5). They left most of the code in but removed the important bits like where the service gets initialized at boot

Fyi if it did work, it would show a notification in your pulldown with the portion of the download being dled over wifi and over mobile data

It doesn't make your internet faster, just splits downloads between wifi and mobile data

The Box™ 4.0.5

I revised the app I made for this ROM big time. It is on the Play Store. :good:

A request – please don’t leave bad ratings on the play store listing. This isn’t meant to be anything more than face value. I kept it a really, really simple app, because this isn’t my ROM. The Box is free and there are no ads. Just a little gift for you all. Be kind.

Enjoy.

changelog
18 April 2015
- minor update: XDA development thread is now live for the S4.

previous revision 5 April 2015
- major revision, completely redesigned the UI
- coded in some transparency into the app, put little icons in the navigation drawer... just made it look respectable. :good:

The Box
... or The X Box in this case?

So I made you guys an app...

I’m working on a generic app that anyone on XDA can use in their custom ROMs, but for the first version I wanted to make it for you guys on the Wicked X ROM. The Box is a very simple, clean, small app with two purposes:

(1)launch a javascript-enabled webview directly to the download location of the developer’s ROM files (i.e. AFH or whatever). This happens within The Box and allows you to download via your browser.
(2)launch the XDA thread for the ROM also within the app in a webview. Depending on your personal application defaults, you can set this to redirect to Tapatalk or other forum app on click as well.

Main benefits:
-The developer can just use a useful file structure wherever they upload files to share, and not have to keep linking to new mods and other downloads every time. Users can just look there for new stuff.
-This can be done without subscribing to any sort of service – just use the same place you’ve been using. This just adds convenience.
-No ads, no costs
-Very lightweight and simple. Things like a splash screen just make everyone wait three seconds for no good reason.

I hope you like it. I'll be making a generic version with tutorial to post in the Android apps section on xda for any custom ROM dev to use. I made my best guesses for the details for this ROM. Feel free to decompile, theme, whatever. The Wicked X custom icon I made up for The Box is in the attachment...
Awesome idea and very well implemented[emoji1]

Good catch! Works through Nova, too.

Any chance you guys could share the secret location? ;) I am not seeing it, but that's why it's secret I guess. :p

Show me yours and I'll show you the secret Labs menu in NOVA :D although you guys probably already know about it.

Hmmm, I don't know if I know about it. :)

These instructions are for others, too...
Long-press on Desktop and press Shortcuts, then choose Activities, wait for it to populate - it might take a minute, scroll down to Settings, select that to expand it, scroll down past the very small print and you'll find Download Booster in there in it's alphabetical place.

From any home screen press the menu button (phone soft key), press NOVA settings, tap the words "NOVA settings" at the top of the screen 10 times and you get an added labs menu.

This is all I get when I long press a home screen.

Sorry, I knew I should've actually done it instead of try to remember. Choose Shortcuts there, and then follow my directions. I'll amend my instructions.

Thanks for the Labs!

And sorry for the OT, @bilgerryan!

This is not a ROM specific question but is there a way to edit the volume of a specific ringtone/notification? I have one notification that is way loader then the rest, my volume is at 1 and it's still pretty loud. Could I do it through the text editor or do I need a sound editing APP?

Did you see I changed "system" to "settings"?

Look for MP3Gain/MP3GainGUI. One of the very few programs that can change an MP3's volume without reencoding it. Or AACGain to replace the MP3Gain executable for AAC files.
