If you have a galaxy phone.. What can the galaxy gear do that the phone cant? Ive never tried using a gear device but it seems kind of pointless. Galaxy s3 has hands free, what else do you need? Again just wondering. Sorry to hear it doesnt work for this rom, can galaxy gear be rooted ?

I wonder if it relies on the sCloudSync Apps. There's a link to those in post #3 if you wanna try.

i don't see it anywhere in post #3?

Edit: I extracted sclouddatasync.apk and sclouddatarelay.aol from the ota zip and installed via adb, converted to system app, then rebooted. I didn't see scloudsync apps anywhere in the zip. No dice

unfortunately, when trying to push to priv-app, i get an error about the filesystem being read-only, and when i try to remount system as rw with adb shell, i get something along the lines of 'access denied', when i try to remount system as rw in a terminal emulator as su i get no response, and when i try adb root to remount as rw i get an error about 'adbd cannot run as root in production builds'

dont know what's up with that, but i copied them to the sdcard and cut and pasted into priv-app with root explorer and rebooted. still no dice.

thanks for the suggestion, any more ideas?

EDIT: meh. it works well enough without the samsung apps. thank you though. keep it up with a great rom

if ya figure out how to do that... would ya let me know..

maybe itll help me figure out how to change the WORLD CLOCK widget thats called for when ya tap the clock in the notification pulldown... to make it open the calendar instead...

cant find a how to and havent done it before so not sure how to do that.... but im a quick learner.. just need something to go off of ya know
If you take a logcat and then look for the lines that come up when you tap it, it leads you right to it in the smali

Yeah sorry, ive used that method for many phones. Some phones do require manually saving and msl. Sorry for the mistake and any confusion.

No worries bro.
It's still good to have your MSL handy. Especially with stock based ROMs that give you access to the hidden menu. Sometimes you need it and other times you don't. I called my carrier a few days after I activated my S3 and they gave it to me with no hassle.

The new MSL utility is nice to have and will come in handy for new users who need theirs. None of the older methods I've used in the past will work on Jelly Bean or Kit Kat.

I was messing around with it but it only seems to be for the home screen wallpaper. I couldn't find a way to set the lockscreen unless I missed it. Still pretty cool.
The Quickpic app allows you to set the lockscreen wallpaper easily. Just install the app, open it, go to the wallpaper you want, open settings, select "set as" and select lockscreen. :)

Edit:

I just checked and the stock gallery works using the same steps as the Quickpic app. No need to install Quickpic to set lockscreen wallpaper.

Personally, I prefer it over the stock gallery and have been using it for a few years now. ;)

No sweat, I appreciate you sharing the info. It's nice that it's even easier. ☺

If you decide to give it another go, I would be tempted to try from the other direction - make a nandroid, wipe and then temporarily flash CNexus's stock rooted either Odexed or DeOdexed ND8 zip (not the tar since you're already on the ND8 firmware).

If you still can't get it to work right, then you'll know there's nothing to be done on Wicked X to improve things.

Just a thought.

I know it's not the same thing, but I use Notification Toggle so that I can access certain things quickly from the status bar pulldown, and that can be accessed from within any app even full screen since the status bar will show temporarily by swiping down from the top.

This was a great solution. Using it now. I love it. Thanks for the suggestion :good:

I've always used quickpic, love it, it also allows you to hide and exclude folders. On another note the ROM is fantastic I'm a heavy multi-window user and this is the first ROM since I left WS that it works flawlessly on. You guys rock, I don't understand half of what you talk about like programming and MSL but I'm a good googler. Can't stop reading and following this thread LOL.

MSL is master subsidiary lock. If you have it you can edit the ##DATA# menu instead of just view it. I also disabled Sprint 's proxies and it seems to be holding on to LTE better but spots I go to I know there is no 4G, I'll continue to test but seems great so far.

Google actually took away the ability for apps to set the lockscreen without some crazy insane workarounds. If you ever use AOSP or stock Android on a Nexus you'll see that the lockscreen image is the same as the homescreen. They say it's for security reasons? Samsung and a few other providers have their own methods that you can use but you have to have a different set of code for each individual manufacturer and update it separately for each one. I was playing with it and the code just to determine who the manufacturer was and if the methods would even work for a given device were well over 4000 lines and it just kept creating more issues. :(

3G when roamimg...

Weird. I was in a roaming area all afternoon and my phone said I had 3G and the speed appeared to support this. Is this normal? Normally I usually get 1X when roaming. I did make those changes discussed a few pages back to my proxy. Could that affect this? Pretty cool either way.

Yeah I've been getting better reception too, let's just see if it holds up.

I told yall it would, please note i would still moniter your daily usage of downloads and what not. (Only for people that have a 2.5 cap for highspeed data) if your on virgin mobile or equivalent and downloading 20+ gigs with high speed that could set some red flags with your carrier. Just play it safe and nobody should technically have any problems. Let me know if you do. Glad i could help, and thanks for the help spreading the word fellas. Great community here.

I build fences for a living, so i get alot of milage in a day lol. Over a 150 mile trip around dallas, and neighboring cities i did these speed test. Im definately getting good LTE speeds, if you havnt attempted this "fix" you should now.
