Guys,

I'd need your support :)... Flashed to 2.51 and than wanted to go back do 2.21 and currently my Defy is not booting nor discovered by a PC, so I can't even flash it again to 2.51 to make phone usable. when I plug it in USB a white LED is on, nothing happens. power+vol_up, power+vol_down is not helpig either. I was charging it through the night and than left offline, with battery pulled out for an hour or so...

any suggestion how to flash it again?

unplug the phone from the usb cable and unplug the usb cable from your computer, remove the defy battery and close RSD lite. Reinsert your battery, open RSD lite again, plug the phone back in and it should say 'connected'. Won't say much other than that.

mine did the same a few times after flashing to 2.51 (doh!)

pulled the battery and let the usb bus on my laptop reset, fired up RSD lite and everything worked okay.

tip: the screen MAY not turn on, just check the bottom section in RSD lite for a 'connected'. If the LED is on, chances are its already in the bootloader, just no display. Worked fine for me, and I was experiencing your same symptoms. However, your mileage may vary.

the most surprising thing is that RDSLite was successful to flash. it reloaded the phone and that was it... have no idea how to move a step. bootloader doesn't seem to start, indeed.

just pull your battery out. push vol up,put your battery backin your phone then plus power button then release power .connect your phone with PC via computer .open rsd lite v4.8( i am using 4.8) or v 4.9 then wait 30 seconds . rsd will say your phone is connected.

Well if they've got the time to do this stuff why aren't they developing a 2.2/2.3 upgrade for Defy users? :(
The same reason why companies like sun and microsoft are dead/dying/taken over and why google and apple are growing faster than hell. Motorolla just doesn't care about users, they just care about customers.

thats the funny part :) .. a single developer needs a few weeks to port an android update for unsuported devices and a company like motorola is working on it for months or years -.-

How many motorola devs. do you think are working on the updates for each device?! I bet not more than 2-3 per device

Is this 2.51 update available OTA as well, does anybody know? I mean if that's the case people should stay away from the "System Updates" menu...at least for now.
So, what's the conclusion in the end? Instead of focusing on the vastly spreading earpiece issue let's mobilize the devs and release a non-rootable ROM for Christmas! That way we'll piss off all the Defy owners that still don't have earpiece issues but love the device :) Way to go Motorola! Things are going from bad to worse with the speed of an avalanche and again - just in time for Christmas!!! :D Well, nevertheless the new non-rootable ROM is probably going to be rootable soon, so....Merry Christmas Moto, keep up the good work! :p

Do not want to be the one thinking out of the box, but maybe there was some severe security holes that they wanted to patch.

The exploits used to root your phone could also be used to do other less pleasant things. I dont think that motorola is doing this to ruin it for their customers.
