Hi all.

Still no word on Netflix resolution? I couldn't find anything but may have missed it. Any way to get this and other streaming to play right?

ROM Update! (7.1.1_r9)

Many improves to frameworks, hardware and device. Improved OMS featuring, increased stability, and optimized ROM using Snapdragon LLVM (SDClang).

Also, kill app with back button, Netflix zoom, hardware keys added to ROM control (no longer "buttons" in settings) and more. You just gotta try it to experience it.

Link in OP has been updated, or get it Here.

I dirty flashed over previous build without any issues. If you run into problems, or if coming from a different ROM, please do a clean install before reporting.

Happy Flashing,
Nepo

PS, Team Kang asked that I change the name of my personal builds. We are still officially supported, so no worries. I chose to call my versions: nepofied :good:

How long is the initial "Patching system image unconditionally" suppose to take?. Its been stuck at that process about 5 minutes?

EDIT: It never got past that point. I was forced to restore a backup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's what the backups are for, ☺. Make sure you have a good download. I did a dirty (cache and dalvik) install this morning on my AOKP installed Rom. no problems so far. It took only a couple of minutes for the process too install.

Any noticeable changes in battery life? Maybe its just me but I think this shortens battery. This morning I left at 78%, uses Bluetooth with screen off, am now at 68% ~40min

"Battery Life" has a lot of factors, how bright is your screen, how many services do you let run in the background, do you play games, do you listen to music, do you watch videos, use for navigation, take a lot of photos, etc, etc...

I'm an average user, so my battery life is OK, only reason I charge so much is because I build and test my ROM daily, I also test other things for other developers.

Also, if 68% is only 40 minutes, I think there's more going on than just BT...

another thing to be aware of is the kernel settings. battery life on Nepo's builds, without changing anything is typically great.

Conversely, i have, on multiple occasions, changed settings i didnt understand and impacted battery negatively. Bluetooth very well may drain battery that fast, depending on what app you are streaming with. if it is something that has to continually stream (i.e.- pandora, spotify), that is not an atypical result in my experience. 10% in an hour is not great, but not alarming to me.

using the latest bhb27 kernel, there are a few ways to set screen off to not consume as much power. also, whilst using bluetooth are you additionally using poweramp or an audio mod of any kind? i have had them double battery usage while playing music, so its something that comes to mind.

Ultimately, you should install bhb27 kernel aidutor mod (v34, i think it is now) and bhb27 kernel and adjust settings for your usage scenario. there is a wealth of resources on tweaking kernel for different scenarios.

Thanks for doing what ya do @NepoRood .com you are the man!!

OK, this is turning into a quest!

I had asked about Netflix/streaming video and was hoping this version fixed the screen size issue I was having. I did a clean install, started using local video – no issue. Streamed from my home server – no issue.

Stream from Netflix – it worked!!! For about 15 minutes. Then, the video shifted and I was able to see literally one quarter of the screen! It filled my device, but only showed the upper quarter of the picture. Nuts.

So then, I did a restart. I when to Xfinity TV and tried to watch a video I had DVD’d. It too worked, for about 15 minutes, then bam, only the upper left corner. WTF!

Streaming for some reason from Netflix, Xfinity, Youtube……… starts out perfect after a restart, then goes nuts.

Anyone else seeing this? I’m willing to do anything at this point – even doing 100% data wipe, etc. This ROM is sweet by any other measure so I want to fix this issue.

I assume you are on the Droid Turbo XT1254? (If not, if you are on an XT1225 then do NOT flash any of these radios.) All the Quark (XT1254/XT1250/XT1225) use these ROMs. There are two Quark forums with ROMs and we go back and forth.

IF you are on XT1254, then here's three newer radios for you. I'm including the Lollipop radios because the Marshmallow radio has gotten mixed reviews. Some people have gone back to Lollipop radio after trying it.

Here's the Lollipop radio and bootloaders for the XT1254. If you use the mfastboot version, you do not have to flash the bootloader -- you can just flash the radio.

[Droid Turbo XT1254] Lollipop Bootloader & Radio Packages
Instructions for using fastboot packages:

adb reboot-bootloader
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot bootloader.img
mfastboot flash radio radio.img

Or if you have TWRP installed, you can use the flashable TWRP packages instead.

The Marshmallow radio TWRP file was compiled by @computerfreek274 for his stock-based Marshmallow ROM. Tons of people have used it, you can trust it. It just doesn't have Motorola/Verizon signature. If I trust the source, I don't worry about verifying signatures in TWRP.

All those XT1254 radios were gathered from this forum and have been used by many, many people.

And you flashed it via TWRP? All I can say is try downloading again. You flash the zip file in TWRP, do not unzip it.

Yes, i have flahsed via twrp and I haven't unzip it.
Ok, I'll try downloading another time.
Thank you again for all.

EDIT: I tryed with the official 6.0 radio that I take from thi thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/dr...-official-stock-firmware-6-0-1-mcg24-t3531571
Because I had already downloaded, and I thought they're equal, but it's only for RSD lite.
So I downloaded from your link, flashed, and now the device is in bootloop :(
Not even the backup works.

I have a 60" TV in my work room, so that's where I do my Netflix and YouTube watching, lol. I only tested apps for a bit...

Let me see what I can come up with, and I'll give you something to test

Not even the backup works.
first, the file is for either fastboot or rsd lite, not just RSD Lite. . you have to extract the firmware from its compressed format. rsd lite does the same thing, but in a less conspicuous manner. once you extract the FXZ(compressed firmware file) you will see the different parts. boot.img system.img_sparsechunk0, etc.

A key point here is to not flash the whole FXZ, because flashing an earlier gpt.bin or motoboot.img will brick your device hard. never flash an older one of those two.

you can safely flash system.img, boot.img, radio.img, etc.

to get to bootloader mode if recovery is broken press and hold power and vol down. once phone powers down, do it again and you will be at bootloader. this is where you have to be to flash the .img files from the FXZ with mfastboot.. you can either flash firmware using adb and mfastbootv2 or boot into recovery, if recovery is still working. If recovery, works, you can select the "Install image" button on the bottom right of the display in TWRP to flash an image.

from TWRP recovery, you can wipe and restore. if TWRP is broken on your xt1254, then you can manually flash boot.img and the system.img for the last firmware version you were on via ADB and mfastboot while at the bootloader screen. that should resolve your bootloop.

i hope i understood correctly and that some of this is of use. good luck getting it booted/fixed and back on NepoNougat. ;)
