How come the HOX with much better hardware isn't as smooth as a nexus?
Because JB for the HOX is being hacked together to work by volunteer devs who have spent hardly any time on it compared to the software engineering team at Google who perfected it for the Nexus. Give it some time. These awesome devs will make it more fluid then the GN in time.

Thx for hard work :

Question: Is tgascoigne and Trip working on two diff roms instead of 1 fully working?
Yeah. The reason I put the code for this out there it to get some kind of collaboration going on but whatever.

Everything has now been merged, just about to test the build, if it seems good it will be uploaded to the mirrors shortly :)

Can anyone that's pushed the changes test whether Google Now is working properly now that the sound is fixed?

Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
That's the list I posted on trips thread. Everything I collected working / partially working / non-working so far

  • Very very smooth and fast
  • Camera doesnt work, as expected
  • Mic works as mentioned, but In-Call echo is back
  • Audio works, but only on speakers. Headphone jack isnt being recognized, tho BT Audio routing seems to be working
  • GPS seems to work, tho it takes quite a while for a first fix
  • Signal bars show low signal strength, but in fact, it runs at the same connection speed as every ICS ROM. Just a cosmetic issue so far.
  • with enabled GPS, deep sleep doesnt initiate, like on Trips CM9 ICS ROM
  • Even tho it is smooth, its not as smooth as with the GNexus
  • Browser sync indeed doesnt work, but actually, it never has for me before
  • Browser is smooth as hell. I mean, REALLY smooth. Feels great!
  • Market apps dont restore automatically
  • SuperUser / Root works when flashed, or you include it yourself in the ROM zip like I did
  • Auto rotation is sooooo smooth and fast!
  • Google Now starts up, but seems to be just sitting there for most/all people
  • Touchscreen Bug sadly is still present, like on every AOSP ICS ROM. Seems to be kernel related, which HTC fixed on Sense.
  • Contacts app now has some new subtle transition effects. Plus, contacts merging is now way better. Before on ICS, I always needed to merge some contacts by myself. Now I didnt have to do anything at all, everything happened automatically
  • Multitasking is effin fast. Even recent apps (long-press home) comes up REALLY fast. Background apps open up as fast as never before.
  • New notification area is SWEET. Major improvement over ICS.
  • Google Calendar is not syncing. After setting up your google account, calender is not in the sync list. If you try to start the calendar, it asks you if you want to add a google account. If you choose yours, an error message appears that your account is already present on your phone
  • Youtube Playback doesnt work. It says that an error occured and I should try again to play back the video. Missing codec?
  • ADB within the system doesnt seem to work, tho USB mass storage works like a charm

Green = Functional
Orange = Partly functional
Red = glitchy / non-functional

So the build works great, though we do have the echo issue, and Google Now doesn't know when to stop recording (I expect this is probably related to the echo?)
Yeah, that is a good call. In-Call echo seems to come from the second mic located right at the top of the phone to cancel out external noise. It seems to be activated again, causing the call partners to hear themselves and propably, due to a constant activity, Google Now to now know when to stop and analyze a command input. Never thought of that :)

Why don't you have a guess mate? :p

Maybe rogro82 can help?
Good thing you're here mate, I doubt anyone else could have thought of that!

I bet the echo issue is due to the noise cancelling mic being activated as a regular mic.

On second thought, Google Now's voice recording shouldn't be affected by the echo, because the voice doesn't get played back (duhh). Damn early mornings.

The echo issue is because HTC use a non standard method of controlling in call volume (if you look, in call volume control doesn't work) resulting in the volume being above max, and the microphones not being able to cancel the sound out. It should be easier to fix now, because we already fixed it for ICS :)

i guess when the stars align correctly and core stuff are running properly, and all that remains are optimization and non-core phone functionality, we can see changelogs for each stable release? hmmmm...that would be a great day!

Is supersu/root not working or is it just me? (clean install with gapps and sound fix)
And 2 fault's (not really issue's) I haven't seen mentioned before:
-button mapping (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN3EXAFRxKQ&feature=player_detailpage#t=142s) (So basically, lp home is supposed to bring you to google now, and a press on the recent apps button well the recent apps xd and the menu could be put on lp recent apps.)
-Vibrations seem to want to create earthquakes :)(Although that's not only this rom, but every aosp based rom, so could be an issue? really hope it's a value with just a 0 to much xd)
