Maybe obvious, but have yuo set bt for "phone calls"? There are also media, input device, contact sharing options ...
Haven't installed 10 yet, not sure should I migrate at all, so this is a guess from Pie.

Doesn't work man. :) I've been having this issue for a long time.

Not only on PE 10 (since "for a long time")? I am using bt headset on PE Pie quite often, all OK. And yes, have missed that one, phone call, setting, thats why presumed maybe you did also.
Latest stable global firmware, 10.2.3.0, July 2019.
