Love the disabled battery charging light. It annoys me too. Shines in my eyeballand blinds me in a dark room. :cyclops: HUGE thanks for bringing PE to Ocean!! Awesome job on this!!! :good:

One thing I did notice is I had no data upon booting up. Installation was smooth and booted fine and from what I can tell everything is working great!
My carrier is Metro by TMobile and when I looked I didn't seem to have any apns in my directory anywhere. Remembered on Havoc 10 the apn.conf.xml are in product/etc and also system/product/etc so I threw the apn I saved from Havoc 10 in the system/product/etc , set permissions to 0644 and reset apn to default and data is on and working perfectly. Attaching my apn.conf.xml from Havoc if anyone else wants to use it..

All credit to Spaceminer for this apn.conf.xml swap fix because that's who I learned it from over on another device forum a while back.

I use orange fox recovery, Elections build over on our roms section, and I never install it. Just boot it when needed. That way I don't have to deal with the freezes.. And I use latest Canary Magisk.

If you keep manually booting to bootloader and back to recovery eventually your touch screen will work.. If you have recovery installed then hold power button + volume down when it freezes then once you get back to bootloader then go back to recovery and just keep going back and forth till it stops freezing up. It will eventually..

Thanks for the info. So we don't need twrp installed to run a custom rom? I just reverted back to stock cause I couldn't get into the phone to add your apn file you uploaded .so from stock I just run the fox recovery then flash the canary then rom? There's so many threads saying how to root.im getting confused and end up starting over many times in the last few days. Appreciate the help.

No you never have to install a custom recovery. You can boot recovery when you need to use it if you choose to using: fastboot boot foxrec.img Then you won't get any freezes with your screen not being responsive like we all do if you have recovery installed. Sounds like your treading dangerous ground. Be careful or you can brick your device. What's your model # Ex: Mine is a 1955-5 metro by tmo. Thinking yours is same seeing how you went after the apn I posted.. If you have a 1955-5 Qualcomm Ocean metro by TMobile variant see the guide section, the thread titled: How to root for noobs. Can't miss it. That's the thread to follow if you have a Metro by TMobile variant G7 power. Lots of info there. I always just read the entire thread start to finish. Never just start flashing things when you're not ? sure what you're doing. You don't want to end up with a broken phone ..

This rom has been excellent!! :cowboy:

So far i have tried this https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/how-to/rooted-moto-g5-run-morning-post-image-t3776012 seems like you can boot having cloned the main memory of another moto device into a SD card, but the disk image in that forum is from a G5 not a Moto G7 Power device, so it didn't work
The failure is pretty weird, I leave it all night long plugged in to charge (just in case it might be discharged), and tried to turn it on, but it doesn't do anything, won't turn on, the screen doesn't light up, it won't vibrate, won't boot into bootloader, it's just weird

Google Play system update doesn't install. Shows update available, downloads, press restart to install.

Reboots, shows installing update, then reboots again, starts up and in security setting it shows the same update is still available.

Fish around in the Motorola threads about booting from a sdcard. There is a 1955-5 somewhere in there. I believe sd_shadow uploaded his. I can't recall which thread but I'll look again and try and locate it and if so I'll shoot you link via pm so we don't kill the thread talking about it.. I'll go hunt for the post now. May take me 15-20 mins but if you are looking for 1955-5 I know it's there somewhere here in one of those threads buried. I'll find it. Check your PM's in about 30 minutes. Anyone who needs the 1955-5 mmcblkxx to try and boot from sdcard send me a pm and once I locate the post with it I'll forward it to you.

Edit added:
On second thought it may be for the 1955-4 dual sim I'm not ? but all that info is there in that thread as well.. I hope that helps someone. https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-power/help/help-blank-flash-moto-g7-power-t3930168/page4 on page #4 sd shadows post. He uploaded his to mega. Within those few pages 2-6 or so it has lots of helpful info on how to make a bootable sdcard ...

Thanks for the help, unfortunately I've already tried that with no results, probably the issue is that I need that sd image but from a xt1955-7 with February's last security update for my device to boot up, I'll wait till somebody publish it with a matching image

First time flashing a ROM on a double-SIM device. Before I venture, I have a couple of doubts. Didn't find the info on previous posts, that's why I'm asking (if I missed them I apologize):
    1. Do I need to follow any special steps before installing?
    2. Do I need to unlock the bootloader as with any other Moto device? (I had a Moto G5s Plus and I remember I needed to unlock bootloader before installing anything)
    3. Is Magisk necessary for the ROM to function or can I leave it aside?
    4. If I'm not happy with the ROM, can I go back to stock?

    Thanks for the hard work!

You must have an unlocked bootloader to install this or any rom on any Android device. https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
Magisk isn't mandatory. If you don't want root just don't flash magisk during your installation. While on "slot a" be sure and flash the copy partitions ab zip from the original post here and make sure it installs correctly with no errors on your screen then flash rom and reboot as it says in the op. If it takes you to recovery and prompts for factory reset then factory reset and afterwards you will boot up and be up and running. You can always return to stock by fastboot flashing your stock firmware for your device model. There have been MANY hard bricks on this device because people didn't flash that copy ab zip while on slot a. Also unlike many devices instead of installing custom recovery I recommend booting recovery instead: fastboot boot recovery.img You won't have any freezes on your recovery touch screen when you boot recovery -vs- if you install it.

I use a USB thumb drive and a micro sdcard and keep everything on them and not on my internal storage because when you install a rom on this device you have to format data. That being said ..

How I flash: Move anything and everything I want to keep to either my external sdcard or thumb drive storage. Check mark developer options and USB debugging and take any screen lock is off in security settings, plug up to computer, look on phone for a pop up. If nothing pops up scroll down in developer options to "default USB configuration" and change that to " file transfer" and watch phone for pop up. As soon as it pops up checkmark the box allowing computer to communicate with your phone .. On phone push power and reboot then hold down volume down button until you're in bootloader mode and has a black screen with "start" run fastboot command: fastboot getvar all , That will tell you what slot you're activly on. You want to be on slot a. If you're on slot b then: fastboot set_active a ,Once it goes to slot a then: fastboot reboot bootloader ,then boot recovery: fastboot boot recovery (where "recovery" is replace that word with whatever you renamed your recovery image that you're flashing.)
Wipe data, system, cache, internal storage, format data, flash copy partitions ab zip, flash rom , reboot system. Then it will take you to recovery, select factory reset and confirm and it will then boot system and you'll be up and running.

    (Edit)

Here is all firmware for all models of Moto G7 power that you will need if and when you wish to return to stock rom: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/ocean/official/
Here is Orange Fox Recovery: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=4058993
If you want to use TWRP instead be sure and use the unofficial TWRP made by Electimon because the official has some pretty serious freeze issues and can be very frustrating. The TWRP that Electimon made rarely ever freezes but if and when it ever does workaround is to just keep manually booting to bootloader and then back to recovery until it works but its pretty rare that it hangs.
One last thing.. If you aren't already member of the Moto G7 Power telegram group I highly suggest checking that out. There you will find many custom roms for this device along with the TWRP I referred to here and a TON of other very helpful things. I just used a VoiP # off text free app to sign up on telegram that way I don't get spammed to death.

The command to check which slot is active is :. fastboot getvar all

Down at the bottom will be text that reads:
