Updated from 12.8 to 12.9. It boots but all my google-apps are crashing so fast that i cant even access anything. What can i do?

i have the same issue, i updated with bliss updater but after twrp flash and reboot i get stuck a bootload, can i byppass 12.8 and flash directly 12.9?

I would wait for a new 12.9 build. The current build seems to be broken.

I would suggest going back to 12.7 or 12.8. Whichever is most stable to you.

Since I wiped and had to perform a fresh install, I took the opportunity to try out other roms. I'm currently on Carbon Rom 8.0. It's finicky with Android Webview which caused some apps to not work properly. It's also quite picky with chargers. My Nintendo Switch and Samsung chargers would only receive 50 mAh (USB-C to USB) , but I can get up to 2400 mAh with a BlitzWolf USB-C to USB-C 18W PD charger. It also failed to discover my Anker Bluetooth speaker while picking up other Bluetooth devices. I'll give it a week to see how the next weekly build perform. I will most likely go back to Bliss Rom 12.7 which was stable and had no issues for me.

Updated from 12.8 to 12.9 via OTA yesterday. As with the 12.8 update, no need to re-flash Gapps (I've been using Open GApps nano) and Magisk. After the update was flashed in TWRP and at first boot into system, it booted straight back to TWRP. I then wiped dalvik and cache then booted into system and everything seems to be working.

I updated the sake way I always do and 12.9 is working great for me. It fixed the annoying navigation button issue.
I'm using OrangeFox Recovery
Reboot to recovery, wipe dalvik/cache and cache
Flash ROM and nikgapps (Core)
Flash Magisk
Reboot

After accurate testing I must confirm this issue.

I think this USB OTG issue has to do with ART/Dalvik cache because it can be fixed after reboot to system or recovery with an ART/Dalvik cache wipe on recovery mode.

I heard flashing gapps should only be done while performing a cleanflash. So i dont know if reflashing gapps is worth it.

That's not true. Just do a dirty flash over current installation of you're not switching ROMs.
Reboot to recovery (I use OrangeFox)
Wipe cache and dalvik/art cache
Flash ROM, flash NikGApps, flash magisk, reboot

Edit: same result with Orange recovery.

Flashed v12.7 and all works fine, 12.8 contains and issue with Gestures module.

I tried installing 12.9 again today and had the same results you as you did. In the end, I managed to installed it by performing a clean install of 12.8 with the June NikGapps core and Magisk 20.4. Reboot back into TWRP 3.4 and flash just 12.9 without wipe.

It has been running without issue so far.

Zram feature works well (perhaps since v12.8) and UI becomes a little bit smoother.
Annoying 'At a glance' now can be removed on Launchair3 (blissifying).

But I found some issues.

• Bluetooth A2DP hardware offload is broken. Sampling rates except LDAC are fixed at 48kHz (16bit). If playing music on an LDAC capable device, Pad4 would go into black and frozen. Perhaps since v12.9.

• Bluetooth SBC HD (dual channel) doesn't work.

• USB OTG doesn't work after direct reboot since v12.7.

• r_submix (Android cast (mirroring) & AirAudio) has been broken since v12.6.

Usb otg works fine for me 90% if not boot to fastboot once and it works fine again

I have nothing with android cast to test stream to Google home and chromecast works so i can't fo anything about that

Launcher dropped all my icons layouts...
Internet speed indication in notification bar changed in 12.9 and still buggy in 12.10. Only 1 design and only 2 options for speed (bits and bytes per sec), other settings still disappeared.
