I honestly think the battery is great. You can try flashing the custom kernel available and use more conservative settings. There are apps that come with preset profiles that are more efficient.

The quick-settings/Notifications tray pull down and retraction animation is quite choppy. Is it the same in vanilla pixel experience (non plus version)? And can I dirty flash vanilla pixel experience on pixel experience plus?

Did you try enabling usb debugging? Fixed it for me

Not possible, After unlocking bootloader it will switch to L3

I saw that @KakatkarAkshay already wrote an info about this case in his main post on page 1:

Note: If WiFi/Network does not work for you then
you must Flash OxygenOS 12 and then Flash this ROM.

So finally i re-flashed the newest OxygenOS Stock ROM (AC2003_11_F.18) on both slots to be on the latest official firmware build. I made a backup first (Take SwiftBackup if you have rooted your phone or just the built-in Google Backup solution).
After this I clean flashed the latest PixelExperience and now everything is working fine again.

I found my exact device here and downloaded the stock ROM but I'm not sure how to flash it given that I used LineageOS directly before that. I can't seem to find a guide that doesn't suggest using the MSM Download Tool on windows.

You have to use the MSM tool unfortunately. There's no other way.
