Hi, can anybody here tell me how much RAM is the System taking in Minimal OS?
Not less or more than other LP roms. It was my daily driver a long time before I changed to turbo. It has a lot of customizations so the RAM usage is equal to other roms. You're looking everywhere for a rom which uses less RAM, you won't find it. Someone recommended mokee to you, that's a good choice but the differences are not so big. You can go back to stock, it consumes not so much. Just have in mind: For android the rule is: Free RAM is unused RAM.

Doesn't matter where this was sent from

I decided to reset my Moto G 2014 running Minimal OS today as it's become rather overloaded. Because it was encrypted and had a non-standard bootloader, the Factory Reset from Settings didn't work, nor could I reset it from TWRP because it couldn't mount data but I got there in the end but now it's just stuck on the boot animation and never loads the OS. I even tried reflashing Minimal OS but same problem and I've left it for 20-30 minutes.

Any ideas what I need to do to fix it? I did overwrite the unlocked bootloader logo with the LogoFixWarning zip ages ago and that's survived the reset but I can't see why that would stop it booting the OS.

Don't you have a nandroid backup? That's my life insurance.
The boot logo always survives a factory reset.
How did you manage the factory reset in the end? If nothing works and you have no nandroid backup I would flash stock ROM again and make a new start from there.
Btw, Minimal os was a great ROM but it's outdated. Maybe you should give a newer ROM a try.

Yeah, I've got a Nandroid but restoring that will be a last resort as it's encrypted, so I'll be back to square one with doing a factory reset again.

I tried doing fastboot -w to reset but that didn't work and it still booted normally. I then read I should be able to do it via TWRP Advanced Wipe but even that couldn't do Data, so I had to do "Change filesystem" to change it to EXT4 and back before I could wipe it.

I've tried flashing Turbo v4 now (after wiping System, Data, Cache, Dalvik) but that's stuck on the boot animation as well.

Is there a particular stock ROM is should try?

OK, the TWRP Nandroid I had on my SD was an old stock one which wasn't encrypted and that booted fine (I only restored boot and system), so I'm going to try flashing Turbo v4 again now.

Yeah, that worked. Phew!

Good to hear that. That are the moments where the heartbeat rises....
Funny, I was an Minimal os too, after that on turbo v4 a long time. You've got a good taste in Roms ;)
Atm I'm on AOSP extended 3.1 with extended kernel v11. Nice too.

Sadly Turbo v4 hasn't worked out very well for me. Every time I lose signal (which happens a lot in my flat) a prompt pops-up about roaming and I have to cancel it, I can't disable either of the two SIMs, SMS messages can't be set to Ask Every Time (outgoing calls is) and if I run the Martian smartwatch app and try and detect my watch, it causes the phone to reboot!

So I guess I'll try AOSP extended 3.1 or go back to Minimal. I need to do the latter first anyway, as I forgot I had made a load of notes in the ICS Notepad, which doesn't work on later ROMs, so I need to copy and paste them all into a different app.

Hi! Did you try CM12.1 by Danilo Sanchez? If not, take a look at it in https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-1-t3377011. ;) I think it's the best rom for Titan! :good:

Man.... this ROM is A ZILLION TIMES smoother than ANY rom I've tried... (including Tesla, which is also from @Vatsal )
The Reboot time is simply unbelievable...
also, if you Wipe Dalvik Cache (maybe it's a Lollipop 5.1 improvement) its like 4 times faster to rebuild the cache!

I don't know about battery life (comparing to Titan Prime) because I've never cared much... I have a Kernel Profile (in Kernel Adiutor), that activates automatically (using Tasker) when my battery is <= 25%, that simply cuts by 1/3 the capacity/speed, limits everything possible, activates 2 hundred tweaks, like Greenify, system settings, display sleep time, etc...etc...etc...
so my 25% of battery lasts for like TEN TIMES more than the other 75%.... so I give a crap about battery life!

I'm amazed by the awesomeness of this ROM! I'm showing to everybody, sometimes strangers on the street (kidding... just "acquaintances strangers") :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Is it recommended or even possible to update the layers app? Because in the playstore description it says to uninstall the app first.
There is an update to layers app today but I am not able to install it from playstore.
If you want to update Layers, then there's only one way to do it manually - by uninstalling the system app using titanium backup and then reinstalling it from the play store.

    Here's what I did (WORKING 100% GUYS):

Maybe you don't have to do All of this steps... (I'm a little paranoid, I don't want to destroy my dear beautiful MinimalOS ROM)

    1. Uninstalled Layers app with Titanium, using the option (checked in Titanium Settings): "Chuck Norris mode" (Enable the feature to remove protected “bloatware” apps from your ROM (using a roundhouse kick :) )
    2. Wiped "Dalvik Cache" + "Cache" -> Reboot to System
Note: The "Layers" menu (in System Settings) now is gone! (disappeared)
    3. Installed Layers app from Google Play Store
    4. Reboot

    Done!
I think it will work 100% (as it's working here now...) even as a "user app" (you don't have to Convert it to a System App again....)
@Vatsal , correct me if I'm wrong (dear grand master of the best ROM ever )

So i hate do to these steps, right?
    - Wipe Data/Dalvik/Cache
    - Install ROM
    - Install Slim zero Gapps
    - Wipe Data/Dalvik/Cache again
    - reboot
    ?
for a real (Full)Clean Install, you have to Wipe: System partition + Internal storage + Cache + Dalvik Cache
(if you don't Wipe: Internal and System you would be doing a: Dirty Flash)

1-> Whatch out, don't Wipe the External SD Card accidentally!

2-> Backup the whole Internal files before[/B]: /storage/sdcard0/* OR /storage/emulated/0/*
Except the folder: Android (don't backup/restore that folder. Then you will get rid of the traces from the old system...)
(some Apps store settings in other folders, but most of them survive Settings Restoration in another ROM)

2-> If some of the old Apps were installed (even partially) in the External (maybe Automatically, or by you decision, or the Developer's decision/Root...) then there will be traces for you to remove also in SD Card!
I always Unmount (or Power Off), Take the SD Card, put it in My PC, and delete all folders witch were made by the System,
like: "data" folder, some crazy-ones like: ".j93gfjijifgh459", and: ".Android_secure" folder!

    No issues with battery :)
