For security updates thanks @tomascus (who still doesn't have donate button :s)
However only kernel is security updated. Android patches are not merged anymore. Maybe someone could take care of this?

Short: no the same kernel, too much DRM, no way to shim.
Long version (Example isn't camera but is applicable anyway as our blobs are DRM protected and there is no way to reuse 4.2 blobs with 3.10 kernel)


I have not dual device :s
Mostly you can try to replace all the /system/vendor/firmware/modem.* file from a working CM-12.1.

Miss-express myself. On cm-12.1, z1 4.2 blobs where used because they doesn't have DRM protect.
On 14.1 we use the official one and they are not really efficient for now. It is not possible to reuse z1 one because they are too old.
Btw you can test easily incoming 14.1

Yes and probably will never get fixed. Fisheye correction is a Sony proprietary software implementation.
Except if someone is able to boot N on stock blobs

Anyway you have some interest for the development on this device.
You could take a look at:
LineageOS 14.1 thread (SODP kernel based, take only a quick look)
CM-13.0 thread (3.4 based with a lot of experiments, this one could be interesting)
and the z5 thread which is pure stock based.
The cross device camera thread can bright you some information. Skip the last 10 pages.

Also short answer: no, they are DRM protected and can"t start without a kernel thingamajig.

Briefly, the unique solution is using Stock kernel and you could get it into Z5. Will you be able to do in Z3?

been running this rom for a week, very smooth and stable. only one problem so far sometimes playing facebook videos the video is all grey and glitchy but putting it in fullscreen fixes it.

Perfect report. One last thing: do you have a reproducibility process? How can I produce the same behavior on my device? Does it happens every time with a specific video, etc...?

it happens mainly on the Facebook app if you keep scrolling throught the timeline pressing on videos and then pressing back sometimes it gets gray on the timeline itself other times on the popup or the fullscreen mode. And when it happens the video gets stuck playing in the background and takes a while to stop even after closing the app.

It seems to be audio related:

Could not offload audio decode, pcm offload decided :0

Could you provide me a faulty video sample?
(btw we have the same problems into 14.1)
