Regarding CAM, i don't have those issues, working fine here. Hangouts is a google app, nothing I can do there, try to adjust screen brightness.
that's what I figured. it' just something I experienced, not a bug report. I really like your ROM, and my SOT is really good.

Hello folks,
Happy New Year !
Poll is now over, and given the results, Chromium will now be bundled instead of AOSP Browser.
I believe this is for the best, resulting download is slightly bigger, but during my tests, Chromium revealed itself as a viable (it's actually the same) alternative to Chrome. Which means that instead of having to deal with 2 browsers, you actually deal with only one.
Next build will include Omni JAWS ( Just Another Weather System). I did a build with latest commits to actually test it, but didn't publish it yet, better wait a little to make sure it's running correctly, to make justice to this very nice addition. What it does is add weather conditions in your notification's header panel, but in a very discrete way, while remaining visible.

Once again, Happy New Year to you all, best wishes for 2016, and have fun with OmniROM !

Reinstalling youtube might help here, I don't have the issue myself, did you install youtube from the store or from a gapps package ?
Wipe cache/dalvik cache also advised.
Logcat mainly shows youtube error, and an SQL related issue. A cleanup of the app and caches can really help here, that's why I'm advising those, it's not actually an issue with AOSP, it's an app issue.

Best would be from the play store.
The first time I installed from play store when the rom was released it didn't work, so I installed the apk. I installed it from the play Store now after a cache and dalvik wipe and it seems to be working fine now.

That's good news ! Glad it work ! I'll keep tracking your feedback on that matter, let's hope that issue's gone for good.
I know that some Google sync issues were reported last week, might also have played a role.

for some reason Google Now Launcher isn't listed at all in settings/home and I can't turn it on. Nova for example works normally.

p.s. clean flash + banks

Banks gapps don't include Google Now Launcher, that's why you don't have it, you need to modify the banks gapps to include it. Another way would be to use another gapps package, like Open Gapps.
The name of the apk would be velvet.apk in case you need it.

I should have mentioned: I installed it from the play store and it shows in the app drawer, when I click on it it takes me to settings/home so I can select it but it's not there.

This is because velvet.apk is not in the package you install from the play store, you really need to install that apk to be able to use Google Now Launcher, believe me, I'm also using it;)

If I knew that earlier that would save me a lot of experimenting. :D Opengapps micro (the smallest one that has the launcher included) works fine even though it's half the size of Banks. Is there any other key component (that we can't install from the play store) missing from Banks dynamic gapps?

By the way, here's something interesting: in Ubermallow the Launcher3 icon is a green circle with a white house in it, and Google Now Launcher works fine there even with Banks gapps. In both Omni and OctOs the Launcher3 icon is white with a house with blue and red dots in it, and in both of those roms Google Now Launcher doesn't work with Banks gapps. Any correlation between the different Launcher3 icon and whether Google Now Launcher will work or not with Banks?

P.S. I think I found a bug - When I'm setting up the phone at the beginning and Google lists my devices it has backed up, when I choose the device and the apps that were on it that I want restored and click Next, it simply opens that page again and again. The only way to move forward is to click that this is a new device, and at that point the phone starts automatically downloading the apps I selected the last time before I chose that this was a new device.

If something wasn't clear and you want screenshots or something, feel free to say and I'll send them tomorrow, gotta go to sleep now :)

The bug you found is Gapps related, you might want to contact Banks team to see with them, officially, OmniROM doesn't offer support for Gapps, we only tend to recommend Banks because it has been proven that it's working well without being bloated. But then, it's nothing official on that matter. Any device maintainer is actually free to do the recommendations he wants towards that device.

Maybe Ubermallow uses a different icon for Launcher3 (customization), and from what you're saying, they apparently ship velvet.apk with the ROM.
OmniROM is AOSP based, and we don't ship any proprietary/closed source app, Google Now Launcher is a proprietary Launcher made by Google.
I don't know why Banks don't shipp Google Now Launcher with velvet.apk, but OmniROM does not ship it.
Afaik, the only proprietary piece of software you can find in OmniROM for Nexus 4 are the drivers and libraries given by Google.
That's also one of the reason why Supersu isn't shipped with OmniROM, because the code is not open source.

I don't want to sound harsh here, but if you did read through the thread, and I think I said many times that Google Now launcher was not included with Banks gapps and needed to be installed separately.
I wish I could do more for all of you when flashing gapps, provide a bulletproof package, but I unfortunately can't do that, lack of free time, and user support would be way to important compared to what I can actually provide. Building OmniROM is still a hobby, time that I take on my free time, and no one at Omni is paid to do the job, we all do that out of passion for the OS and for the device we maintain.
I myself keep on providing at least a build per week until nightlies start, but I can only do this when I go home after work, and I still have a family I need to spend time with ;)
That's why sometimes, I might omit to repeat things I already said in the thread, hoping users will eventually find their way to the answer they're looking for :)

If you have any question regarding the ROM itself, feel free to ask.
Hope you have fun with OmniROM !

I don't remember if the camera is part of the rom or gapp. I have problem with using flash in low light setting. Sometimes, It just gave a black image. Google camera from the play store has the same problem.

Base camera is part of the ROM, but low light settings, Nexus 4 always was really horrible with it. But a black image with flash ? That one never occurred to me. I just did a test, in a dark room, and it works just fine, with both base camera and Google Camera
