Omni 6 Nightlies for Nexus 4 / Mako

You MUST DO A FULL WIPE before flashing nightlies, whether you are coming from homemade builds (aka my builds), or a previous version of OmniROM. Be certain to do a full backup of your data, apps, call logs, sms/text and so on before flashing. If you were to flash nightlies over my own builds or your custom made builds, or any other ROM, you would end in a bootloop ;)
GAPPS must be flashed BEFORE initial boot, they will NOT work properly if you flash them afterwards !!!
Don't update gapps on nightlies update, only initial flash requires it. Updating gapps on next nightly would break those, and ROM would become unusable.
You MUST use this version of supersu, latest beta system less
Supersu beta System less

Hello folks,
as far as I'm concerned, all issues that were mentioned has been fixed, which means I can relax a bit until something new comes up :p
Security updates are done on a regular basic (synced with Google), features are being backported too.
Feel free to report any bug you might encounter with a procedure to reproduce that bug and a logcat.

I kinda feel like Omni 6 for Nexus 4 is fully stable, without any major bug.

Nice

Running latest version wit supersu 2.67Beta and Open Gapps micro.
No issues so far and a very smooth experience overall.

Only thing i am missing are some more quicksetting tiles, like sync and display timeout.
Theres a bug with the quicksetting editor, the add button is invisible using the Light theme.
The auto / manual button next to the brightness slider is messing with my OCD, making the slider non-centered. I am never using the manual mode, cause adaptive brightness works very well.

Congrats, a solid ROM for our aging mako ! :good:

Talked to the core team about your issue, update to r22 killed active sync, but team readded the needed code to handle it, next nightly will solve your issue with it, very sorry for the inconvenience !
Thank you very much. In German we have a saying: Where people work, mistakes are being made.

Great thing is though, that you and all other and coreteam are so quick to respond, providing us such a great ROM.
Thank you so much.

I know there have been some work/rework in this area, some glitches that will get erased eventually ;)
I'll give it a look when I get time, but Mako's resolution isn't that easy to handle on Android 6, it's becoming more and more an issue actually. it's getting old ;)

Hi. Is changing LCD density in build.prop can resolve this kind of issues ?
No, it won't change anything, but I'm blocked at the moment, my vpn is down, and from China, it's a bit of a hell right now to be able to solve this. I'll ask for a bit of patience :)

I am not having this issue personally, or I can't see it or I don't really understand the problem. I changed my lcd density setting, so I thought maybe it was related. But according to you, it is not.
Anyway, I hope you will recover your vpn :)

This rom rocks!! Thanks for your work!
One simple question. How can I set default home screen? We can do that in Omni 5.1.1, but I don't know how to do it in Omni 6

It's an option in the gallery app, I just select a picture, and set it as a wallpaper.

Of course, I use the same LCD Density as SlimROM for mako, it is 268.
And I use build.prop Editor from f-droid to change this dynamically and Tweakprop to set this automatically when updating OmniROM with nightlies (folder OpenDelta/FlashAfterUpdate), very usefull !
Thing is lowering it goes against the screen itself, since the native resolution is 320.
I think having your solution can be handy, but I don't really want to change the default on this, some people likes it stock (including myself).
Editing the build.prop is a no brainer, easy to do, and efficient, I think most people can live with it ;)
268 is truly low, you've got good eyes :p

Hi kldoc,

thanks for answering. You have misunderstood me. I was talking about home screen.
For example, I have 5 screens, I would like to set my default home screen the third one, but there is no option in Omni 6.

Oh that ? I don't think there is anyone in Omni working on launcher3, a few commits here and there, but no real customization.
To be honest, nearly nobody uses launcher3, I myself use Google Now launcher, some other use Nova launcher, that's why there is nothing really done on that side.

OK, thanks for your answer. I liked launcher3 in Omni 5.1.1, I will try Google launcher.

i would like to know if there could be power enhancemetns features included into omni rom. so that you could have power management profile based on usage, from power saving to efficient to aggressive savings to get the bets optimum battery performacne out of our nexus 4.
i have tried almost every rom out there for nexus 4 lately. i keep on coming back to omni rom. all promise features but dont deliver. but the omni rom community does announce features and does implement them over time. i am back after a week of playing wwith different roms. omni rom is the best rom for everything. its one of the best rom for battery efficiency. i am hoping that there could be more battery enhancement options for the future to make the battery life even better then what it is on omni rom. on average on omni rom with nexus 4 i am getting about 10 to 15 hours on omni rom. i am hoping that i can squeeze a bit more and that would make me even more happy. if the nexus 4 could get 10 or so more hours to get through a whole day that would be awsome. i dont know if this can be done or not . that's why i am asking about that.

I have noticed that my Nexus 4 is going hot, very hot, when I use it. In wifi too. It becomes too hot. Anyone else are in the same situation?

Might be a wakelock, but there's not much I can do about this, might be one of the apps you're using, or a custom kernel ?
I don't have that issue with wifi, my phone stays cool, that's why I'm asking.
Kernel wise, I only add commits relative to security updates.

Concerning battery improvements, what others did was to implement in the kernel a software support for new features that are in Android 6.
I took the choice not to implement those, and stay on AOSP kernel, thinking that a non supported feature that is then implemented via software might actually uses more battery that it gives back.
There's not much that can be done to improve battery life on Nexus 4, it's aging, and battery life isn't going to improve over time, the only thing that can be done is system using less of that juice, and for that matter, Marshmallow uses less than Lollipop.
