ROM Update!

FireHound v4.8 (See changelog(s) below)

As usual, it's been too long since the last update. That's because most of the team has moved on to bringing up FireHound v5.x (Pie) sources and for their devices.

However, a couple of us will continue to support Oreo a little longer, at least until v5.x is more stable.

This update brings in the August security patches and a few more additional features.

OP has been updated, you can also download from Here

Current Vendor Image: OPM4.171019.021.P1 (July) Link
(Note: July 2018 is last Oreo vendor image for Pixel devices)

Flash the vendor using TWRP or via fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash vendor vendor-marlin-opm4.171019.021.p1.img --slot all

How to Install:
See OP

How to Update:
Make sure you are on July vendor
Reboot to TWRP recovery
Flash the ROM.zip (tap back arrow)
Flash TWRP installer.zip
Reboot Recovery (This will boot the slot where the ROM was just installed)
Flash GApps.zip
(Optional) Flash Magisk*
Reboot System

*If you previously flashed Magisk, you should flash it after updating as well

Random reboots

Hey - last night I installed the latest version of this ROM for the first time. I did a full clean install (flashed latest stock compatible firmware first) then installed this ROM. I'm not using any custom kernel. I restored (user) apps with data using TiBu.

Yesterday it was working fine, but today I've had 3 ro 4 random reboots. All have happened while listening to a downloaded podcast using bluetooth. They all seemed to be more of systemUI reboots, as the phone comes back up pretty quickly after seeing the boot animation. Bluetooth usually only disconnects for a few seconds before automatically reconnecting, which makes me feel these may not be full reboots.

I took logs of the last two reboots which I've posted here. I'm happy to help answer any other questions or test anything to see if I can reproduce.

Edit: I've had this problem several more times today, these times while not on bluetooth nor listening to any media files. It seems fairly random when it happens. Took 2 more logs (3 and 4) of these more recent times.

Dunno. If I knew the answer I wouldn't be posting here. However, I've tried numerous other ROMs on this and other devices, all using TiBu, but without this issue. If I knew how to read logs I'd be happy to try and diagnose.

I'm just putting it here for feedback in case it is a ROM issue. I'll likely flash something new tonight because since today I've been getting about a reboot an hour.

While it's possible it's TiBu, I doubt it unless you're restoring system apps, or apps you'd saved under Nougat, to an Oreo build. At times there are cross compatibility issues. Easiest way to figure it out without logs, is to do a clean install, then don't restore anything.

I've been getting a few issues on the new build -
1) Random restarts - I've been noticing random phone restarts (feels more like a UI restart, as the phone comes back up really quickly). I've had a restart on when I rotated my phone while watching a YouTube video, one while turning on WiFi, and a couple of other random ones.

2) Lock screen goes blank - Sometimes, while trying to wake the phone up with the power button, the phone's screen does not come on. This morning, my alarm went off but the screen never came on. I had to hold Power + Vol Down to restart the phone, while the alarm was going off, to turn it off. A couple of times it hasn't come on when I double press the power button to launch Camera, even though the phone vibrates. After the vibration, I pressed the power button again (as if to lock the phone) and then double pressed it again - the phone vibrates again signaling the Camera app starting, but still nothing on the screen. After doing this in succession 3~4 times, the screen finally comes back on.

3) Phone does not charge to 100%. Even right now, I have it hooked up to the charger. It goes up to 99%, then the notification light (which I have set to staying on when fully charged) goes off too. Actually, after 99%, the power level starts dropping off even when the phone is plugged in. I just checked, the phone stopped charging after 99%, and it's currently at 98% (even though the battery icon on the top right indicates the phone is plugged in).

Please help. Thanks.

Edit: This was a fresh install, didn't dirty flash. I erased everything, then reinstalled FireHound. Didn't use TB to restore old apps (only thing I did was save the Whatsapp folder, then placed it in the phone before reinstalling it so I'd have all my messages and media).

1) I've yet to have a random reboot and I don't use a lot of 3rd party apps, which are likely suspects

2) Turn off pocket detection

3) Try a different cable, or it may be time for a new battery. Charging problems are usually hardware related

My phone says that the vender image is out of date. I know you're supposed to:fastboot flash vendor vendor.img but will this mess up my rom when I update to the current vendor img? the rom is working just fine without the current vendor image...

It won't mess up the ROM, as long as you're flashing the July Oreo vendor image, OPM4.171019.021.P1

If you don't have it, you can download it here

@NepoRood looks like there are a lot of updates to the rom on 4.2. Should we be doing a clean install for this one or can we dirty flash?
    When did "he release" 4.2?

Last "test build" I did a dirty flash, as usual, and all went fine. I have a build with all the updates building now and I will test it before releasing, which should be in the next few hours. I'll be sure and mention the best course of action when I post it up.

Hold on just a bit longer guys, this update is a doozy, lots of cool new stuff! :good:
