Does it mean, that I have to flash the "MIUI 8.11.8 Global dev firmware" and then, I am able to install OTA-Updates again? They are not working anymore since the 17.11.2018.

I suspect you may also need to upgrade the version of TWRP you are running. I discovered that you need to be running 3.2.3 to handle the current OTA updates. Once you have it installed you no longer need to supply your PIN/password to carry out the upgrade. The whole process is a lot smoother.

Android clock broken

Android clock (com.android.deskclock) is broken for me with latest builds.

Here is crash log:

I have found this problem in another topic:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/clock-t2918126

Guys advice to go to /data/data/com.android.deskclock/databases and remove the file alarms.db
I have no root, so I just cleared application data - but I think that this is a bug and it should not happen.

Firmware upgrade

Hi, I got here because latest build I could install was 20181117. Now I read that I have to update firmware und found your links. My questions:

- where do i see which version to take, global or china? I already looked up specs of the phone, build, kernel, baseband version but can not find it

- will updating firmware result in data loss or is it just like installing a new build?

Thank you a lot for your help in advance.

Eddi

Edit: TWRP ist 3.2.3.0

One thing, Take this one indicating V8.11.X like this:
fw_capricorn_miui_MI5SGlobal_8.11.15_5c5145f64a_8.0.zip

And not what seems to be the latest V10.x like this:
fw_capricorn_miui_MI5SGlobal_V10.1.1.0.NAGMIFI_691a2ec0ca_7.0.zip

As you know Oreo is Android 8.0, it's indicated in the naming of the FW files at the end.
I'm coming from another rom, and the V10 was the latest, as opposed to here where V8 is the latest.
So here the V10.1.1.0 is not the latest, it actually don't have Oreo, it's android 7.0.

I got fooled so I prefer to inform you!

PS: Of course take the Global version or CN (China) according to your device HW.

Take global one if you live outside china, and updating firmware not make your data loss

I'm sure there's a way to identify which hw version you have (china or global), I don't know it.
As said, probably you are likely to have a global if you bought from anywhere else than China. Probably... Only you have the clues, the packaging, the order details, etc...

As for the firmware, as said you don't risk data loss. Why? The firmware zip files only contains the files which will be extracted and replace your phone current fw. For example, that's how the "baseband" version changes. It's not touching any filesystem related to data. You can simply flash firmware in recovery mode, and that won't touch any data.

In general, is good to take regular backups and copy them outside your phone. That's a good precaution.

Thank you both for your answers. I bought my MI5s from gearbest and I now did take the global rom. No problems until now.
I do regular backups before installing new builds but I never had to update firmware. Therefore I was unsure. Again thanks a lot!

Use oreo firmware, read few pages back

LineageOS version: 15.1-20181123-NIGHTLY-capricorn
LineageOS Download url: download.lineageos.org/capricorn
Gapps version: open_gapps-arm64-8.1-stock-20181123

Error : No Sound, Video lag and Phone need to open Speaker :(

Yes, typical with the incorrect firmware. FYI "oreo firmware" is the one indicated with 8.X version. The ones called "stable" (10.x) are actually android 7 (Nougat, not oreo):

Make sure to take the global or China version according to your HW specs.

Can somebody help me?
I leave my phone on charge overnight, with "do not disturb" mode and "sleep as android (smart alarm app)" tracking running
I also use lullaby (white noise) feature, built in "sleep as android" app, with headphones volume set to full (i plug phone into pc speakers)
The thing is: when i wake up in the morning - my headphones volume almost always resets to "safe, to not damage hearing" levels, so white noise is ineffective and (for example) stupid noisy neighbours can wake me up.
I have suspicions, that it's happening when there is any notification coming with do not disturb mode enabled, but i'm not sure.
How to make headphones volume stay at the full level throughout the night?
Thanks in advance.

The battery drain seems to be very high compared to MIUI ROM. Could I do somethings? I made a clean install of lineage wiping everything.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :
    • Download the latest build and gapps
    • Reboot to recovery
    • Flash the latest build and gapps
    • Reboot

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

We recently started working on rebasing on scorpio-o-oss as it was just released by Xiaomi. Before pushing it to main branch I want to see the feedback from you all.

    What you should expect:
    * Less USB-OTG issues ( my natrium has working USB 3.0 for the first time ever teehee〜 )
    * Updated touchscreen firmware and drivers ( You will probably have to reboot after booting the kernel for the first time if you want dt2w and swap keys )
    * vidc/venc/audio issues gone ( hopefully; I hate this thing )
    * [ Insert cool thing here ]

Released some r30 based bulds today. Don't expect anything other than newer security patch date. Also it took me like 8 hours to compile & upload builds for everything I tend to maintain so don't expect new builds anytime soon lol.

Is it possible to disable fast charging with this ROM? I know some Samsung devices have the option. Is there a way to add it?
    Thank you

    Buy a worse charger.
