Do you use adblocker? Either that or your DNS is blocking request or missing entries for these domains that android uses to check connectivity status:

I'm sorry I didn't mentioned I'm in China, and I don't want get back to miui global.(actually not bad, below the comparison of ROMs in China)

I'm in China

The Google domains that standard Android uses for connectivity & captive portal detection are blocked in China. To change to China-friendly ones, run this from an adb shell:

settings put global captive_portal_http_url http://www.google.cn/generate_204
settings put global captive_portal_https_url https://www.google.cn/generate_204

(This issue with Android is documented elsewhere on the internet if you need more information about it - it's not 5S or LineageOS specific.)

I'm on 15.1-20181205-Nightly and NFC doesn't seem to be working. I can enable and disable it, but it doesn't read anything at all.

Any clue on what can be done to get it back to normal?

Edit: Well, without me doing anything at all NFC sort of decided to work, but not always. It randomly reads tags or simply ignores them. Very unreliable.

Please help! I want to update from a mid November nightly to the latest (06 Jan) nightly but I always get error code 7 when I try to flash it in TWRP. I am using the latest TWRP. What might be the problem?

I have the Xiaomi Mi5s device for 2 years and still have the official global rom with Android Oreo. However I want to try new ROMs this year.
Which ROM do you recommend me?
- Keeping the official global rom with MIUI?
- Lineage 15.1 (official) which is updated everyday?
- Lineage 16 (unofficial)?
- Syberian ROM?
- Other?

I would like a stable ROM, and if it's possible, based on AOSP.

I've tried to install this ROM but I did not get it.
I have installed the TWRP and then followed the steps of installation in the Lineage website.
I tapped on "Format Data", but I found these messages:
"falied to mount data" and "device or resource busy".

Then I tried to reboot the device and go into TWRP again and it is not there anymore. Instead, it is the xiaomi recovery.
What am I doing wrong?

Miui installs it's default recovery on boot, so that's what happened there. Did you unlock your bootloader?

All LOS roms are HMP, if you want EAS than you have to flash rom based on AOSP.

If you encounter the same error - try, while still in TWRP:
1. Go to MOUNT and make sure DATA is not selected,
2. Format DATA using advanced wipe, i.e: WIPE -> ADVANCED WIPE -> select 'DATA' -> REPAIR OR CHANGE FILESYSTEM -> CHANGE FILESYSTEM -> EXT4

If all is fine, just follow the remaining instructions.
Most likely you want to install these 3 zip files:
1. Latest firmware https://github.com/XiaomiFirmwareUpdater/firmware_xiaomi_capricorn/releases/latest
2. Lates build: https://download.lineageos.org/capricorn

That depends on how old was the firmware you had installed with your last MIUI update. Better update firmware at this point than struggle later.

unfortunately this is not descriptive enough for me / it doesn't ring a bell:
- are you sure that you have your data partition unmounted in step 1 of my instruction?
- what does it mean "I can't CHANGE FILESYSTEM -> EXT4."? you can't click it or what?
- on the bottom right corner of TWRP there is an icon you can click to show TWRP console / log. Make a screenshot of it after your failed attempt.
