Redmi 9
Unofficial LineageOS 18, that I have tested, failed to update and I have returned to CRDroid. I have installed CRDroid 8.5 and Nikgapps core. System started OK and behaves normally. SHRP has no acces to data, so it doesn't fully support this rom. Will OS with gapps survive update?

Edit: just have noticed, that wi-fi 5GHz doesn't work. But I don't remember if there were wi-fi problems on other roms or this is a new thing due crDroid.

I have checked 5GHZ WiFi a bit more with WiFiAnalyzer:
On crDroid 8.5 channels 149-177 don't work at all. Channels 36-64 and 100-144 sometimes shows activity for a moment, but then stop working.
On LineageOS 18 channels 149-177 don't work, but 36-64 and 100-144 seems to be OK.
On MIUI 12.5.5 EEA all works.
TWRP/SHRP doesn't support A12 yet, so there's no way to decrypt data.

Update is simple -- you flash new ROM and new version of gapps after it from the recovery mode. All user data remain intact and the system will work just fine after the update.

Wifi 5ghz works fine in my case. Some channels can be restricted by regulatory domain, i.e. the country you are from.

Is anything else not working on crdroid latest rom. I am a newbie and haven't rooted or unlocked the boot loader of a phone. So I am scared if I do anything wrong. I searched on the internet and found that this rom works best on redmi 9 prime. I have a few questions..
Could you please refer me to some good guides and what recovery should I use?
I found this video but it is for crdroid 6.1. Are the instructions still the same?
As some people on this forum are saying that the phone's performance is sluggish with this rom, is it still there or the performance is now fine?
Thanks
In my case, everything works well.
Use SHRP -- it officially supports Redmi9.
Check this HOWTO to avoid stress:
Performance is good, at least in my case. From time to time it can lag but I think it's a matter of apps you use.

One more thing.. Some websites said that I need to downgrade it to miui 12.1. My current android version is miui 12.5.4...I hope it won't cause any issues.
Great guide.. will surely test it out and update my progress. Thanks ☺️

I'ts about the firmware-ROM match. If you want to flash a custom A12 ROM you should have an A12 stock firmware, and if you want to flash a custom A11 ROM, you should have an A11 firmware. If ROM and firmware don't match, you can experience some issues. All the firmware can be found here:

Basically I download the newest firmware package and flash it from time to time.

Does the country matter? I have India's latest version, do I need to flash china's firmware. So I can't flash crdroid 8.1 because it is A12 Rom and redmi 9 has A11 Rom?
Also if I keep reflashing.. All my data and settings would be deleted wouldn't it?

You are right, this is similar problem. When I reboot phone in airplane mode, then I get all channels working. If I enable GSM and restart WiFi, then channels 149 - 173 stop working. I can see in logcat, that country is set to PL, but regulatory info looks the same (or I don't know what to look for).

Just installed the rom, works great.
Only issue i have (for now at least lol) is that on the latest build videos that are 1080p on newpipe and vlc lag a lot.
The same videos dont lag on the default gallery app.
I attached a newpipe error report, myabe that helps.

This is the first custom rom I've flashed. I've been having trouble with it shutting off by itself or shutting off when I click the power button. Doesn't happen every time when I click the power button, but it happens a lot. I clean flashed it. Not sure if this is an issue with this rom only or if it's something else.

@tiga05, yes, I've managed to solve it, but I don't really know what consequences of my deeds can be, so be careful if you want to follow what's below.

Basically, you probably are right about some buggy ROM<->google relationship. To deal with this spam log, you have to disable com.google.android.gms/.chimera.GmsIntentOperationService . You can do it via ADB:

    Code:
    # pm disable com.google.android.gms/.chimera.GmsIntentOperationService

I'm not sure what this service is used for (it's just a part of google GMS, i.e. google play services), but it looks like everything works well so far.

I've also been playing with google play services optimization for battery utilization and RAM usage. Basically I disabled these activities/services, which reduced RAM from 450M to around 140M, which is really nice.

Followed the installation instruction, everything has been smooth so far. Played some game and the performance is great. Prop to the maintainer for writing such detail instruction rather than having me search though everything on my own. Keep it up!

Somebody asked before but no answer. How is the situation with low in call volume, is it present like in all custom roms for this phone?
hello, yeah it is present in this custom rom... its a problem with all custom roms for redmi 9... i switched back to miui because of this issue
