Redmi Note 9
does anyone know if I want to update from 7.x to 8.x if the above is possible? I mean does it by "Old Crdroid Build" mean any version 7.x or 8.x or is it working only from 7.x to newer 7. x and for 8.x to newer 8.x?
My main concern is to understand if it is possible to update from 7.x to 8.x without losing apps + data (aka without "format data")
If you're coming from 7.x to 8.x you need to cleanflash

Why a12 lags? I on a12 have unstable 40fps in games like standoff 2, but on a11 stable 60fps. Why? I can't understand.

OTA update from 8.7 to 8.9 didn't work for me either. In my case, after the download was complete, the device rebooted into recovery mode. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to flash anything, so I did a standard system reboot from there. Thankfully, I didn't lose anything but the crDroid version wasn't updated (it was still 8.7).

Seeing the result, I went for a clean flash. I tried to do it first without updating the firmware and got my device into a boot loop (it was the fw_merlin_miui_MERLINGlobal_V12.5.1.0.RJOMIXM_84b071b256_11.0.zip archive).

So, I went to recovery mode again and flashed the following firmware archive:

Filename: fw_merlin_miui_MERLINGlobal_V13.0.1.0.SJOMIXM_23a9625209_12.0.zip SHA256: 07048DCA1D1550DB3B6FA595A3A11A1C953C7F042DE08459BA66CEEE0B8324C0

Then I flashed the ROM file and GAPPS (MindTheGapps-12.1.0-arm64-20220605_112439.zip), "advanced wiped" darvik, data and cache, and successfully rebooted into crDroid 8.9 with GAPPS.

@Evan_Ferrao Could it be that the OTA update needed a firmware update in my case? Thank you for maintaining this device, btw.

Have you downloaded the S vendor crdroid? crDroidAndroid-12.1-20221001-merlinx-S-Vendor-v8.9.zip ?

Hello!

I have a question: I flashed the R-Vendor version on my Note9 (fresh install) because it was the only one that would actually boot.

It does seem to work for the most part, but I have the following issues:
  • I do not get the customization assistant on first bootup (the one that asks for language, wifi, and such). It's no big deal, but maybe its related to the other problems.
  • The middle soft button (which is supposed to bring up the launcher app) does not work. It shows its optical feedback but does not actually bring up the launcher. You stay in whatever app was running.
  • I cannot activate developer mode. I can tap on the build number in the settings until my finger falls off, but nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong? crDroid 8.7 was running perfectly fine on the phone.

v8.9 S vendor and v8.7 causes bootloop on my phone. does this require miui 13.0.1 firmware to be flashed first? i have used miui 13.0.2 before flashing the latest crdroid.

For those who have doubts, to flash the ROM you need to have MIUI 13.0.1.0 (stable beta).
I flashed it with MIUI 12.5.4.0 and there was a brick on the phone, I'm going to install MIUI 13.0.1.0, let's see how it goes, wish me luck, I'll update the comment.

Update:
If indeed the MIUI 13.0.1.0 version was needed
At the time of installing I discovered that it said MIUI 13.0.1.0.

Thank you very much for contribution ♥️

See on sourceforge or crdroid website there are android 12 builds. I don't know how stable they are tho, but be sure to install latest miui firmware before attempting any flash to avoid bootloop
Thanks I've been using it for a few weeks now and it's very stable.

Thanks for your reply, what about battery life? any bugs while using some apps?
Battery excellent, bugs volte but flashing 12.5.1 firmware resolved it and in call volume is a bit low for my taste.
