I used to do the same thing until the CM folks themselves said that it wasn't necessary. TBH I haven't had a single issue and I've been doing it this way for a couple weeks.
I used to be one of those people who would only flash after a full wipe, but I've actually been using CM Updater for a couple months now with no problems.

Same here, although I would dirty flash most of the nightlies. Haven't had a single solitary issue since I started using CM Updater the minute it was included.

Make sure you thank ascertion. He gave me the link. You can push this to system/etc. For the zip ya gotta ask detule. I dont have permission for that one.

Potentially stupid question here, but I'm running on very little sleep today and I'm not thinking clearly. Do I need to remove the extra ".xml" at the end?

Yes. Remove XML at the end. So only one .xml exists.

.....And as someone mentioned you also need omit the "cdma" from the name.

Ok, I see where this is going and I don't think I like it, plus my PM inbox is full.

Here's a flash-able zip - flash via recovery.

As always, you shouldn't trust flash-able zips you download from the internet, make sure you understand the dangers and read the enclosed updater-script, and proceed at your own risk.

Go back a few pages and make sure you thank all the folks that tested and gave reports of their experience.

Once it gets merged (if its accepted) it'll be automatically added in future nightlies.

I am almost positive it will, I live in an lte area and it fixed the problem for me. :D

EDIT: Ok so I've lost data at least 2 times, but 100% better than before, its doing a great job switching between 3g and lte. :D
