CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 5.1.x (Lollipop), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

Code:
/*
 * Your warranty is now void.
 *
 * We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
 * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
 * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
 * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
 * you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
 *
 */

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Installing now! Thank you! I will report back my findings of any issues.

Ok, so right off the bat, every background service is force closing. This is a dirty flash on top of CM12.. as per Cyanogenmod's instructions.
I should mention, not "every" but I notice Youtube, Timely, and it appears Google Play Services.

I installed the 5.1 gapps, but didn't make any difference.
Clean flashing now.

You need to install the ROM and Gapps at the same time, not 2 separate flashes

This is good information to know. This is the first I've heard of it. Maybe this should be in your first post. This information was also not provided by CM either.

Thanks
You might be able to fix by only wiping system and reinstall both. It's faster than a clean install.

This hasn't been my experience. I can flash a rom, let it boot, check everything, then reboot to rescue and install gapps. YMMV I suppose.

That's ok for a first / clean flash. Works perfect. Have you tried that with a dirty flash? From my personal experiences when dirty flashing... if I do not flash google apps at the same time as the ROM I get Google Play Services and other random force closures. #justsayin

Dirty flashing did no good on my Evita. Thanks for the bad advice cm. Proper way to go from 12 to 12.1 is to full wipe data and cache and I also did wipe system and dalvik. Flashed full ROM followed by delta gapps base in twrp prior to first boot. I let google restore all my apps from backup made earlier In the day. Only trouble is logging back in and setting up each individual gapp. Only problem I have is cyandelta errors out and will not allow an auto reboot to recovery. Also cmupdater gets the update fine and boots to recovery but never runs the update auto it just sits at the menu for twrp. What is the proper manual way of updating nightlies without losing information? Just forcing an install of zip file then wipe cache reboot ?

I had FCs on calendar and calendar sync errors after a dirty flash of 5/2 and Gapps at the same time with wipe of Davlik. Uninstall/reinstall of calendar app fixed it. Also had some weirdness with CM updater but that sorted itself out after the next download after the one i flashed was available. I do see 4k on back camera video as well.
