Getting a GPS lock before you flash cm12 worked for me. That should be step one from now on before flashing any ROM. Just in case ya know. So far everything's running great.
I've read it's an issue with quite a bit of Motorola devices. The stock GPS trick is the best thing possible to do at the moment.
Alright, thanks guys. I will attempt the stock GPS trick again, hopefully it works this time.

So aside from the swipe keyboard issue then, I've noticed that the background task killing feels abnormally aggressive. I was in a music app and switched to ES File Explorer and within 10 seconds of switching the music app was killed. Then, I started a move job within ES and reopened the music app and, again, within about 10 seconds the move job stalled as ES had been killed. I'll see if I can get some logcat/debug listing RAM usage but as it is it seems like multitasking isn't a bundled feature :p

Kernel is still 3.4 AND this is alpha so I'm eager to see what 3.14 behaves like once we get OTA and kernel source for the latest.

Well I tried to reboot into recovery again and now my device seems to be hard bricked. No key combination will force it to turn on/off. Not sure what's going on. I am getting a QHSUBS_BULK listed in Windows Device Manager though, so :(

Edit: Nevermind! It lives! Word of caution: I entered into the soft-brick state when using the Advanced Reboot option to boot into recovery. Quick Boot app reboots to recovery fine, not sure I'm willing to try the Advanced option again.

Is the display on or off? Holding the power for two minutes gets me out of situations such as this. Getting to fastboot is the only way to get out of that situation. Keep trying please, you may have entered the fastboot debug option.

That's basically what ended up fixing it for me. USB to computer followed by power+vol down for 30 seconds or so got into boot menu. I always get nervous when I see that QHS show up in the Device Manager.

I had this the other day thought i'd totally bricked a new phone, isn't it vol down then power for 2 mins
This is what i did

Plug it into the charger
Hold the VOL DOWN key
While still holding the VOL DOWN key, press and hold the POWER key
Hold both keys down for over 120 seconds. This is more than two minutes and will seem like a long time. You might want to time yourself to make sure you hold it longer than two minutes.
After holding the keys down for more than two minutes, release them.
The Flash Boot screen will display, and the Normal Reboot option will be highlighted
Press the VOL UP key and the device will start a normal reboot.
And timing it is worthwhile;)
