I am getting 4 hours of Screen on time, with this build. Could you please check the time against "Screen" in Battery usage analyzer(i checked mine, from 100% to 1% of battery capacity). I saw some issues fixed in EvolutionX Rom, related to unusual battery usage. May be, we can also get it fixed in LOS, if the issue is not user specific
Yeah, ofc I can do that! What exactly do you mean with 'Battery Usage Analyzer' - the battery settings of the system, or a certain app?

In Google Messages app, opening a message received from "Short Codes" results in flickering message toast at the bottom

Until yesterday I was running my OP6 with an unofficial LOS20 ROM. A few weeks ago, after I had applied the January OTA I had realized that the screen of my phone no longer turned on if a phone call was coming in while the device is in standby mode. I was hoping that this behavior was somewhat related to some ROM specifics, and clean installing this ROM here would solve the problem. But had to realize that the same is happening with this ROM here.
This is really driving me nuts not having a clue who is calling until I answer the call using my volume rockers. There are only very few reports of this issue (like this one here: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/5466).

And what's even stranger: notifications will wake up the screen, as well as other events like the alarm clock going off.

Question:
is anyone else facing a similar thing? And / or anyone having an idea what I could try next?

UPDATE: last night I once more tried to solve it, changed some settings in the display > lock screen > device controls area as well as display > tap to wake. Meanwhile everything is changed back to where it was before, but now incoming calls result in waking up the phone/screen. Probably one or more of the settings I touched had been in an undefined state, the only explanation I can think of...

On the newest build, the option to change the Material You colors based on the wallpaper is gone. Does anybody experience the same issue? It used to be directly underneath the wallpaper.

Reading a little bit through the LOS reddit and the changelog, the new update seems to have contained a lot of changes to AOSP and UI, which might be the cause to the missing color feature.

I'm not missing the themed icons, but the option to change theme colours.

Edit: the next update should fix it 😃 on the change logs for the upcoming patch we can see that the LOS themepicker will be exchanged with the AOSP one. That's probably the reason why there was a conflict in code in first place, which resulted in this „bug".

I have upgraded my phone from LOS 19.1 to 20 without problems.
I noticed now that if I leave that phone to shut down the display by itself (I set 30 secs before it) it immediately turn on, wait 30 secs to turn off and again turn on....
Instead if I use the power button to turn off the display it remains off until I'll activate it.
I never esperience this issue with LOS 19.1.
Any suggests?

I remember having seen this once but can't confirm with current version; change list of yesterday's update mentions some Aperture changes so that might be solved now.
Anyways, I still prefer GCAM over Aperture, photo quality is so much better...

Hear hear, i was thinking the same. Do we have any advice which gcam version to use? When i selected it the last time I remember it took a while to find a version in which all features (like both cameras, panorama and slow motion) worked and when i reinstalled my device with los20 i forgot to make a backup of the version i used...

I'm currently using V 8.7.250 (A11 V14, to be exact), and I'm quite happy with it (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/). User @TheVoice70 is posting notices about updates on his own forum (beware: German language!) as well as in this thread; not sure whether the latter will be true in the future as that relates to an unofficial LOS ROM which apparently is no longer maintained

Does the front camera work for you? And slow motion video? They do not on my OP6 with LOS20 and the exact GCAM version you are using... I've used the snap cam version (the first in the V 8.7.520 A11 V14 download list...or are you using specific config's?

You're right, don't work for me either
Wasn't working on first attempt. Then I closed the app and reopened it. And after that front camera was working.
For slo-mo Video (1/4) I chose to turn off 4k, switched to fhd. Was working then, but video was showing weird stripy patterns like vertical shades. I'll try again tomorrow with daylight.
As to the version: I installed the *ENG* one, whatever that means. And there's only one Config available under that version, AFAIK. Called something like "balanced test"

Yeah, only version that seems to work for me is

MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix_MGC.apk

Nika.

Same thing happened when OTA updating to today's version : is this a recurrent problem ? I'm not installing every update as it obliges me to fastboot boot.img to stop bootloop...
No problems here, and never before. I'm usually skipping most updates in between the one swith security uodates, this time was an exception.
    I'm running LOS recovery, btw

Edwin Moquete (OnePlus 6T Maintainer) seems to be trying to port our device kernel to 4.19 (https://review.lineageos.org/q/project:LineageOS/android_device_oneplus_sdm845-common), which would give us again a supported Kernel until Dec 2024 (https://www.kernel.org/releases.html). Wish him best of luck!

I upgraded tot the 20230425-version from an older 19.1 build.
    Seems to run very smooth!

Thanks to the IH8SN method I even got itsme working again.
Still struggling with the payconiq app though...
I tried a few times with Magisk but that didn't succeed either.

Anyway: thanks to keep this device alive and very much kicking!!

Hi Guys, as a long time OxygenOS user, is there any advantage of LineageOS over OxygenOS except for the ongoing updates?
As a daily user i am using this device as my daily. It has to be as stable as a rock? Currently the only issue i am experiencing is issues with OxygenOS and WPA3 support for wifi.
This means LineageOS must pass "SafetyNet" as a requirement to continue support for banking apps also.
I mean, on going updates is the main thing. It is also pretty clean and close to stock. Look at how much stuff Samsung preloads on their phones, for example. Anyway.

Yes, it is rock stable. Yes, typically when a brand new LineageOS version launches, there will be some issues and crashes. Maybe for up to a month. But still, nothing a quick reboot can't fix. But apart from that it has been rock solid.

There are ways to pass SafetyNet. There is this IH8SN fix. I use Magisk with MagiskHidePropsConfig personally.

The only other thing that created some friction for me is the camera app. The built in camera is not great. But Gcam works pretty well. I do not see any noticeable change in quality between oneplus's camera and gcam.

So yeah, it will require a bit of tinkering to set it up, but once you do it -- it is great.

I just updated now by mistakenly pressing the reboot before getting magisk to do its stuff first. So, no more root on reboot.
Is there a quick and reliable way to get it back without having to download the whole thing to get the boot.img, etc ,etc?
Enter recovery, ADB sideload: adb sideload magisk.apk (change the name of the apk file to match)
After this you shouldn't need to do anything else after OTA updates - just update and reboot. Sideloading the apk via the recovery adds an addon.d script for OTA magisk survival.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

I do not have a device supporting aptX, AAC or LDAC (only SBC), but I read a lot of "offload" and "aac". Maybe this is similar to this patch?
Just pitching in information. Maybe it helps.

For me personally everything is flawless. Great work!
    We already set this prop.

Also, I posted a related comment here: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/5381

Thank you @LuK1337 for keeping this device alive! Updated from 19.1, everything went smoothly and working good.

Love the new Aperture camera app, results are really nice - pics are nice and sharp, shutter is quick and snappy, UI is nice and the features are good. One thing I noticed though - pictures are 8 megapixels instead of 16 (I set the capture mode to maximize quality, but it's still 8MP). Also, on the video front, FPS is capped at 30 - can't change it in any of the resolution modes. Otherwise, very nice app, will be interesting to see where it goes next and how it grows :)

Hey, kernel 4.9.x has gone EOL - https://kernel.org/

Can anyone check which kernel is preinstalled and how lineageos handles EOL kernel? Is it going to be 4.9.x forever or is it updated?
The sad reality for Android phones is that they use downstream kernels - google takes the linux kernel and changes it to run android, then the chip maker changes that to run on the SoC, then the phone maker changes that to work with all the stuff in the phone. And then you arrive at something that is pretty far away from what that angry Finnish guy has released as "Linux". Add to that some binary drivers and proprietary interfaces, and you get the mess that is android.

There are actually projects to run the official Linux kernel (called mainline or upstream) on our device, for example the postmarketOS guys here have got all the core stuff working with mainline: https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/OnePlus_6_(oneplus-enchilada)

However, that takes a lot of reverse engineering, and big parts one takes for granted in android just don't work, because nobody knows how or has been able to spent the weeks of unpaid work to learn. For example, last time I checked, the mainline kernel on the O+6 has somewhat broken cpufreq stuff, and a working camera is still far away.

For everybody looking for reviews before upgrading to LOS 20.0:

Stable, snappy & best in class update support are the best way to describe it, in my opinion.

    -------------------------------------------

I customized and flashed ih8sn.zip to get the play store certified. Android 13 feels a lot like Android 12, but got some customization options, which I was missing. It's been a very pleasing experience so far and I've been very happy to see support for such an "old" device. Huge thanks to all developers and especially luk for their great work.
