Yeah, only version that seems to work for me is

MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix_MGC.apk

Regards,

Nika.
Alright, as promised:
did a slo-mo video (1/4 speed) at daylight, and that worked nicely. Well sort of: the playback starts in normal speed for a second or so, then jumps down to slo-mo. Not prefect. But no moving shades either
And front camera photos are working as well.
I remember having used V8.1.101_A9 with official LOS 19.1 for well over half a year, and was quite happy with it

I remember having seen this once but can't confirm with current version; change list of yesterday's update mentions some Aperture changes so that might be solved now.
Anyways, I still prefer GCAM over Aperture, photo quality is so much better...
I can't find a version of Gcam for lineagesos that doesn't give me an error Can you please help ?

I'm in no way an expert in regards to GCAM versions. I guess I'm just lucky that MGC_8.7.250_A11_V14 is working for me. I can only recommend to try the versions marked as stable and/or recommended (on this page try the entries in bold and red). Other than that I can only recommend to get in touch with the developers there

While using my phone, I am used to pulling down the status bar with my right thumb from the top right corner (the area where usually network connection etc. are shown).
With the latest update from today, that no longer is possible. It is not a touch screen thing, I double-checked with a testing app.
Does anybody know the reason for this changes behaviour? I did not find anything in the changelog.
Again, no big issue, I was just wondering. Maybe there is a new setting I am missing.

Isn't that the Quick Pulldown setting?

Just completed the OTA: I (sort of) can confirm your observation. Pulling down status bar for me is working from anywhere with 2 exceptions:
- if I manage to hit the battery icon itself (in my case displayed as a circle) nothing happens
- same applies to the left corner if I hit the clock
1 mm to the left or right of these spots makes a difference.
My assumption is that there is a "conflict" between the pull gesture and tapping the clock / battery icons which brings up the related setting pages where the tap has precedence.
As I never tried that before I cannot say whether this is new or probably has been there for a while (my "natural" gesture is to pull just right from the notch).
Launcher in my case is SmartLauncher 6 which makes it different from yours.

Yep, but that is exactly what I was talking about. Iirc, the status bar behaviour in those areas was different prior to the update. Thanks for reporting back!

Does the front camera work for you? And slow motion video? They do not on my OP6 with LOS20 and the exact GCAM version you are using... I've used the snap cam version (the first in the V 8.7.520 A11 V14 download list...or are you using specific config's?
Sorry to bring up that "old" discussion, but yesterday I decided to experiment with the various 8.7.250_A11_V15 variants; GCAM documentation states the the "snap" variants are specifically designed to work with OnePlus devices, so I tried that - and failed: crashes all over the place. Probably the OP compatibility only applies for OOS driven devices but not for LOS.
I also tested the GoogleCamera_ENG variant which works OK-ish.
For me the best working variant still is the default MGC one, together with the "balanced" config file

Yes, importing the Balanced Config (OP66T-BSG8.7-Balanced-Test2.xml) works a lot better on MGC_8.7.250_A11_V15_ENG.apk. Slow motion works too, but only 1/8x... when 1/4x (default) it starts the recording but stops after a second. And true, the slowmo only starts after a few seconds but that is by design for all slowmo recordings. At the bottom of the slowmo you can adjust the sliders to start and stop the slowmo sooner or later. That way you can record a video as normal and only set slowmotion for the specific period you want it to be slow.

Has anybody purchased a reliable replacement battery for this? I see options on Ebay and Amazon but they mostly look like they don't perform well.

Already buy 2 batteries.
Unfortunately, arrives 16% and falls down in less 1 minute to 0.
Apart that, it works, and i have between 3 to 5 hours SOC.

Lest us know your experience.

@lm089 I saw that you're using TWRP alongside Lineage OS 20. Is that correct? Are you using the newest version of TWRP (3.7)? Are you able to decrypt user data? (with password set or without?) Did you test restoring backups?

Sorry for the flurry of questions. I'm currently using LOS 19.1, with TWRP 3.6.2, Magisk and Xposed, so I feel much safer with an option to restore a full system backup. The only annoyance is that I need to remove password before each backup. I hope I can replicate that setup in LOS 20.

I used to but no more: I found that restoring backups no longer worked for, always led to bootloops and worse. So when I came back to this official LOS 20 3 weeks ago I decided to abandon Twrp, and so far haven't regretted it.
I used to run siddk's Twrp 3.7.0 flavour, and that often but not always managed to decrypt data. Unfortunately siddk stopped development earlier this year. That's why I decided to look for alternatives Backing up data. Using Seedvault now and am surprised how easy it was to restore my data

Hi Guys, as a long time OxygenOS user, is there any advantage of LineageOS over OxygenOS except for the ongoing updates?
As a daily user i am using this device as my daily. It has to be as stable as a rock? Currently the only issue i am experiencing is issues with OxygenOS and WPA3 support for wifi.
This means LineageOS must pass "SafetyNet" as a requirement to continue support for banking apps also.
I mean, on going updates is the main thing. It is also pretty clean and close to stock. Look at how much stuff Samsung preloads on their phones, for example. Anyway.

Yes, it is rock stable. Yes, typically when a brand new LineageOS version launches, there will be some issues and crashes. Maybe for up to a month. But still, nothing a quick reboot can't fix. But apart from that it has been rock solid.

There are ways to pass SafetyNet. There is this IH8SN fix. I use Magisk with MagiskHidePropsConfig personally.

The only other thing that created some friction for me is the camera app. The built in camera is not great. But Gcam works pretty well. I do not see any noticeable change in quality between oneplus's camera and gcam.

So yeah, it will require a bit of tinkering to set it up, but once you do it -- it is great.

I just updated now by mistakenly pressing the reboot before getting magisk to do its stuff first. So, no more root on reboot.
Is there a quick and reliable way to get it back without having to download the whole thing to get the boot.img, etc ,etc?
Enter recovery, ADB sideload: adb sideload magisk.apk (change the name of the apk file to match)
After this you shouldn't need to do anything else after OTA updates - just update and reboot. Sideloading the apk via the recovery adds an addon.d script for OTA magisk survival.

Is anyone experiencing intermittent issues with Gmail notifications? When I first switched to LOS I stopped receiving Gmail notifications all together. I disabled battery optimizations, yada, yada -- nothing helped. Then, I went to Gmail -> Settings -> Account -> Manage labels and enabled EVERYTHING. Notifications started coming in, although I would get two notifications per email: one for "Inbox" label and one for "All mail" label. Note that when I would disable "All mail" label notifications, then I would be back to not receiving any Gmail notifications. So you either get two notifications per email or nothing. A little annoying, but hey -- duplicates are better than missing an email.

But it seems like every now and then, I would install an LOS update and notifications would stop coming again. Then, in a week or two, I install an update and they come back. I am currently on the latest LOS (as of today) 20-20230509-NIGHTLY-enchilada with the latest Gmail version 2023.04.02.523594694.Release (updated on April 12th) and I am not receiving any notifications. Notifications have worked before on LOS 20.0-20230425, and the Gmail app version must have been the same. (Note that I have skipped LOS 20.0-20230502). I do have Magisk root with MagiskHidePropsConfig, but that should not interfere with Gmail notifications. Outlook notifications, on the other hand, are rock solid. It is some sort of Gmail specific issue.

    Is anybody experiencing something similar?
Yes, happens to me from time to time. Going through all of my Gmail account settings in the app, disabling and re-enabling notifications + syncing fixes it for a while. Then once in a blue moon notifications will disappear again.

Hi. Just installed this rom. Running smooth. 2qs.
    1. The nightly builds keep coming like every week. Should we keep updating.
    2. My playstore is not certified. Banking apps won't work. I need them. I am not rooted and don't intend to. Is there any other method. I saw about ih8sn but I don't know what it is.
    Appreciate the response.
    1. As I know you can, but you don't have to. So probably depends on your preferences.

    2. Download the Aarch64 version of ih8sn.zip, change the included config to the op6 ones (should be somewhere in this thread) and flash it via adb command onto your phone. This should fix your problems, but some users reported problems with NFC payments on Google pay, in which case they used to root their phone to make it functioning again.

Thanks. I did the above but its still not certified.
Flashing was successful and I edited as o'er the instructions given.
My gaps was mind the gaps.
I just flashed the ih8sn. Didn't factory reset or wipe data anything.
    Am i missing some thing.?

Edit. Did try again and its certified. Thanks a lot.
Would it be good to continue from here or should i start again (reset, flash Los,gaps and ih8sn?)

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

I do not have a device supporting aptX, AAC or LDAC (only SBC), but I read a lot of "offload" and "aac". Maybe this is similar to this patch?
Just pitching in information. Maybe it helps.

For me personally everything is flawless. Great work!
    We already set this prop.

Thank you @LuK1337 for keeping this device alive! Updated from 19.1, everything went smoothly and working good.

Love the new Aperture camera app, results are really nice - pics are nice and sharp, shutter is quick and snappy, UI is nice and the features are good. One thing I noticed though - pictures are 8 megapixels instead of 16 (I set the capture mode to maximize quality, but it's still 8MP). Also, on the video front, FPS is capped at 30 - can't change it in any of the resolution modes. Otherwise, very nice app, will be interesting to see where it goes next and how it grows :)

Hey, kernel 4.9.x has gone EOL - https://kernel.org/

Can anyone check which kernel is preinstalled and how lineageos handles EOL kernel? Is it going to be 4.9.x forever or is it updated?
The sad reality for Android phones is that they use downstream kernels - google takes the linux kernel and changes it to run android, then the chip maker changes that to run on the SoC, then the phone maker changes that to work with all the stuff in the phone. And then you arrive at something that is pretty far away from what that angry Finnish guy has released as "Linux". Add to that some binary drivers and proprietary interfaces, and you get the mess that is android.

There are actually projects to run the official Linux kernel (called mainline or upstream) on our device, for example the postmarketOS guys here have got all the core stuff working with mainline: https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/OnePlus_6_(oneplus-enchilada)

However, that takes a lot of reverse engineering, and big parts one takes for granted in android just don't work, because nobody knows how or has been able to spent the weeks of unpaid work to learn. For example, last time I checked, the mainline kernel on the O+6 has somewhat broken cpufreq stuff, and a working camera is still far away.

For everybody looking for reviews before upgrading to LOS 20.0:

Stable, snappy & best in class update support are the best way to describe it, in my opinion.

    -------------------------------------------

I customized and flashed ih8sn.zip to get the play store certified. Android 13 feels a lot like Android 12, but got some customization options, which I was missing. It's been a very pleasing experience so far and I've been very happy to see support for such an "old" device. Huge thanks to all developers and especially luk for their great work.
