Watched a few videos before bed, accidentally restarted device. It booted to a black screen to which I could only hold the power button for an unfamiliar three button popup for restart turn off or lockdown ? what is happening did a factory reset all good....... stuff like this makes me appreciate iPhone's ROCK SOLID stability.
BUT I do admire being able to customize my entire experience on lineage in seconds.

Hi @LuK1337 is it possible to add eac3 audio support to this rom? A lot of third party media players have it, but not the stock gallery video player.

I don't know if you're monitoring this post anymore so could you let me know if it's possible or not possible? I'm not a developer so I don't know how hard something like this would be

Thanks!

I'm kinda new to this thread (have lurked for a while though) and I've recently considered switching to Lineage on my OP6.

However I noticed that the kernel on the lineage repos hasn't been updated since September 2019. Does this mean that we aren't getting any kernel-based security patches?

Hello, question: Can you flash this directly from the new Android 10 OOS firmware? Not sure if it's the case with this phone or not, but I know other ones I've owned prior have been picky about flashing back to prior firmware. Probably going to yolo it and try anyway ... the new Android 10 update is so buggy on my phone it's killing me. Now that this Lineage build is official I figure it's a good time to give it another try.

Thanks for all your work!

EDIT: For anyone else looking to install this from Android 10 it definitely did NOT work for me, not sure if I just wasn't doing something right. I had to flash back to OOS 9.0.9 with Fastboot (used this tool here), boot TWRP, flash Lineage, reboot to Lineage Recovery, install MindYourGapps and Magisk for root. Took a little while to get everything working as I couldn't get Gapps to install from TWRP for some reason??? Fortunately it worked from the Lineage recovery.

Maybe a dumb question ...

I'm having issues with video playback being slow and choppy regardless of which app is viewing the video.... in reading this thread it sounds like I just need to re-flash Lineage and Gapps, as this has fixed it for other people. But where can I get a TWRP flashable version of OOS 9.0.9? The OnePlus website only lets you download version 10, and other versions of 9.0.9 I can find here are setup to be installed with Fastboot. Maybe this is fine but I'm wondering if this is why mine isn't working right, since I flashed with Fastboot, then flashed TWRP, then installed Lineage and Gapps.

Thanks in advance for the help, I've been out of the flashing community for a long time.

I've found a download link for 9.0.9 for OP6 on this site:
https://www.getdroidtips.com/download-oxygenos-9-0-9-9-0-17-update-for-oneplus-6-and-6t/

I cannot direct-link the download links, as it seems they're dynamically regenerated. (Yes. They're TWRP:able)

Thank you! This worked perfectly. I flashed this, Lineage, and OpenGapps, my video playback is working correctly now.

One more question ... I don't have Trusted Face option under Smart Lock settings?? So I can't configure Face unlock. Reading through this thread it looks like other people have reported the feature is working? I flashed the Nano OpenGapps, which is supposed to include Face Unlock, and all other aspects of Gapps seem to be working fine.

Any thoughts? Is it possible to flash a higher tier of OpenGapps or switch to MindTheGapps without having to wipe data?

When upgrading an OS from one build to another, but stay within the same OS it's justa matter of upgrading. Just stay with the same Gapps variant when upgrading. Upgrading Gapps to a later version do however work as long as it's the same variant, just like upgrading the OS build. Just make sure it's the same OS variant, and the same Gapps variant.

For fresh/new installs:
I've found that Open Gapps, and other variants works best when flashed directly after the intended OS without any reboot in between. Gapps works best when it's included in the initial first boot.
It seems the OS doesn't like it too much when the OS already has made the initial boot, and then after that have Gapps installed. It does work, but has its own set of issues. Mostly minor, but still. (Some cases it might not work at all)

And switching between variants of Gapps without a clean boot (factory reset / wipe data) doesn't always work well. If one is lucky it can "kinda" work somewhat, but the results may vary greatly.

Thanks for your reply! I fully wiped over the weekend to try again from a clean slate... this time I went with MindTheGapps instead of OpenGapps, and made sure I didn't boot to System before flashing it.... however it seems to be the same issue, still no Trusted Face option. I think when I opened Smart Unlock for the first time, I saw the Trusted Face option briefly before the Settings app crashed, and it was no longer available when I opened it the second time. Not really worried about it right now, I don't want to spend the time wiping and setting everything up again. I'll probably revisit this later once the Lineage 17 builds for this phone are stable and in Official status. It's too bad though, aside from Trusted Face not working, this build is running flawlessly. With both Magisk root and a Substratum overlay.

Hello guys!

First, thank you very much for your hard work!

I'm not new to fiddling around with custom ROMs on Android phones, but with my new OP6 I just can't get it running.
Also the a/b partition thing is very confusing to me.
After trying the Havoc OS ROM which prompted processes dying all the time, I wanted to try out this LOS 16 ROM.

Then I came to a state where I could not boot into anything, even twrp.
So I made the steps described in the [GUIDE] Mega Unbrick Guide for A Hard Bricked OnePlus 6 thread.
It worked and I got a stock 8.0.1.

After that I let the OTA Update give me Android 9.

Then I followed the intruction from the official LOS page.
But when i tried to install pico Gapps (arm64 Android 9), it returns error 20 to me, stating im using Android 10. ?!

When I tapped "reboot to recovery" in twrp, it promted "no os installed" and after that i could not even boot to twrp anymore with VolUp + Power.
I think I've made a mistake somewhere, but I cant find it.

There are guides where you have to flash multiple times while others dont do this.
Should I use the latest official twrp.img or the bluespark thing?

I'm completely lost by now.

Thank you for your help!

Edit:
I'll try again. I'm installing the official OxygenOS 9.0.9 Full Zip from this thread..
After reboot, I'll do it again so hopefully both slots have got the latest Android 9 stock firmware.

From there I'll start over with the official LOS guide.

Edit2:
OK everything works fine now except Magisk. If I install it with the LOS recovery via sideload and reboot, its not there.

Edit3:
I used the addonsu from LOS and it worked.

There was a post on "bullet proof" steps for flashing to A/B partitions that worked for me. I can't find the original post to link you to, but fortunately I had copied the text to my desktop. This worked for me to install Lineage, Gapps, and Magisk, hopefully it will help you as well. (I swapped OOS BETA 4 for OOS 9.0.9)

Not sure about your AdAway issue, but I tried a few versions of GCam and found 6.1 Miniflex was the one that worked with this ROM. Link here.

Ty for your answer.
This GCam works fine; idk why selfie os 4mpx but the rest is okay.
Problem with AdAway is that app can't mount system r/w...un using LOS supersu addon.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :

    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)

NOTE: Before flashing these builds you have to flash latest Oxygen OS or Hydrogen OS in TWRP twice ( so that both A and B slots are flashed ); Oreo firmware is not supported and will not work on these builds.

I think OTA updates are a challenge for a/b devices like this one. Looking at the procedure how they are flashed manually, I am looking forward to see a way how OTAs achieve the same!

OTA will be as simple as flashing from the built-in Updater
Gapps ( or any other package that provides support for addon.d ) will be backed up automatically.
