Spent a whole weekend with this ROM and so far it's pretty stable.
No Airplane mode resets, sensors working fine, Wifi, Bluetooth.
All the apps are working with microG.
Battery consumption is definitely improved.
My only issue now is the navigation/location services.

Tried the latest build with very good results (thanks @DarkJoker360 :)) regarding stability and performance.
Nevertheless I found 2 major issues in terms of navigation / location services:

- No other gnss except gps (LOS can't 'see' any glonass or beidou satellites)
- Network location (gsm or wifi) doesn't work. Neither with google play services nor with microG.
For navigation only gps is used ..

Someone out there with similiar experiences ?
Any idea how to fix that or recommendations for a workaround ?
Yes, I'm having the exact same problem. Used SatStat to see what was going on and no Glonass or Beidou either.

As a workaround I've done 4 things:
1. Using Mozilla and Deja Vú location services with Nominatim on MicroG;
2. Gave this services full permission/always over location;
3. Disabled battery optimization for this services;
4. Installed the Global Optimized GPS Replacer module on Magisk. Rebooted the phone and reloaded the GPS file from SatStat.

Before that I was getting inconsistent results. Now they are much better.
Although not as precise as it was with stock MIUI, navigation/location is now usable.

Hope this can help you.

Hi,

I use SatStat cannot get the Network Based Location.
https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/issues/1150

Previously I use LineageOS, whatever setup also cannot get the network based location.
Last night installed Lineage for MicroG, I tried your step still not get network based location.

What else can I do? :(

I want to ask, how to check whether glonass or beidou satellites are working? :confused:

@marinh0:
That doesn't work for me. Are you sure that the location service are working correctly ?
In satstat's fourth screen you should see a blue circle which indicate that the network location works (red circle is the satellite -gps/glonass/beidou- location)
@Dogs1985:
In the first screen (last line) of satstat you would see glonass/beidou satellites listet next to GPS

You're right, @2faraway2, It's only showing a red circle on fourth screen.
Maybe I experienced a placebo effect by doing the changes listed in my previous post.
I've found a github commit to bring back Glonass and another one for Beidou.

Edit: I'm now seeing some small blue dots on first and fourth screen of Satstat. In the first screen they are labeled as SBAS. Not much, just a few of them. Is that helpful?

Do you have whatsapp calls and audio problems? Lag whe sending audios, app crashes, and a 15 second delay before completing a call?

Hhhmmm, blue dots ? Not listed in the legend so idk .. sorry
But if network location would work you would rather see a circle than a dot ..

Never having used Lineage but being very concerned of privacy I always rooted my phones to protect them with XPrivacy (Lua). Unfortunately, XPrivacy Lua will not be adapted to Android versions beyond 10.

Thus, I am checking to switch to a different custom ROM which will not need XPrivacy. I understood that LOS is featured with an inbuilt feature called privacy guard.

Please, could anybody comment whether the LOS "privacy guard" works equivalent to XPrivacy. What will I miss if coming from XPrivacy.

Thanks a lot for any little help.
If you are really concerned about privacy, there is no other way than stop using gapps and playstore as well. Make a clean install of Los and Magisk (if you need root). Then install Fdroid and all apps you need from there, as firewall use Afwall+ or Netguad (only the paid version from the developer's homepage) and Adaway as adblocker (if using Magisk and Afwall+). XPrivacy (Lua) and privacy guard can not guarantee your privacy.

My first week

After using my readmi note 8 with the miui rom for almost a year, and being fed up with so much delays on the 10 version, i'm using this ROM for about a week now. I haven't found any problem so far, and found a significant advantage: the battery now lasts for about 2 days (I used to charge the phone every 24 hours). I might be wrong, but I have all my usual apps installed, including facebook and whatsapp, keep wifi turned on for most of the time and this ROM is proving to be perfect for me... Thank you!

Thanks a lot for taking your valued time to reply to my question. All you have written exactly desribes what I do since using my first smartphone (no google account, no gapps, no playstore, use of AFWall+, Root, Threema instead of WhatsApp, Adaway, no social media accounts, no google browser and no google search but duckduckgo or startpage, etc.)

So to put my question more precisely: could you (or anybody else) explain me if Privacy Guard of LOS is equivalent to the restrictions possible with XPrivacy (Lua) or - if applicable - where they are significantly different. For sure a link to a good review available in the web is also highly appreciated.

I would say LOS Privacy Guard is not able to make the same controls how XPrivacy could. You can control the basic android rights for most applications (but not for system services) but it is not compareable to XPrivacy possibilities which were VERY detailled and in consequence a bit difficult. I stopped using Xprivacy since it wasnt supported for actual android versions and started with AfWall+ because for me it gives good and detailed control to the internet services which are most important (in my thinking). If you dont like root or need a VPN Netguard also is fine for internet control.

only FYi if you are "missing" Xprivacy: at least up to Android 10 XPrivacy (Lua) is reliably working if using Magisk plus EdExposed. I am not yet sure if it will work also with Android 11 (that's the reason for my question).
