Just flashed LOS 18.1 on my phone, so far so good, much better than MIUI
Using the LOS recovery as well it's much easier and simpler than TWRP, waiting for LOS 19.1 now :)

Thanks dev

EDIT: Flashed magisk latest version, enabled zygisk, restarted phone and the screen starting turning off and on, happens often, phone still usable though, turned off zygisk and the phone is normal again

anybody know to pass safetynet with this phone/rom?
To pass safetynet install ih8sn.zip from dev's Telegram channel.

ok, phone did indeed shutdown for normal reasons (battery)
and now? bootloop in first splash screen. again.
problem persisted using LOS recovery

so, every time phone is shutting down ill have to re install firmware?
--edit: didn't work
next try, basic wipe from TWRP
--edit: didn't work - TWRP as no permission to access data folder, (includes delvic, media etc)
---p.s:
i did try to install pixel experience ROM before, so might be relevant (rom use different directory tree structure 🤷‍♀️)
tried to upgrade 17-18 -faild>installed vendor>firmware>PE>FW>LOS - worked
(full wipe in between steps)
----edit:
performing factory reset from LOS recovery allowed the phone to complete a full reboot.
although doing a factory reset every time my phone is shutting down for whatever reason is something i would prefer to avoid, if possible...

edit- 8.5.2022
just backuping everything every few hours to deal with the situation. a temporary method.
can't use Bluetooth, wifi, hotspot.
firmware connected issue?

edit- 9.5
issue persist after todays update.
factory rest has to be applied to avoid bootloop.

please advice, any and all ideas would be hugely appreciated
(can send log... for a change :p edit: actually... )

Things are very simple for a clean install ...

- download the latest firmware for your variant (the whole MIUI firmware is not needed) :
. ginkgo
. willow

- download the latest LOS 18.1 build for Redmi Note 8/8T
- +/- download my latest gapps from here

- flash on the fly : the firmware, followed by the LOS build +/- gapps

- format /data (with type yes)
- reboot

For future update, flash only the LOS build & the gapps update

thank for the input :coffee:

for some reason that doesn't work.
the phone is booting and it's possible to set the phone for normal use when those steps are taken. yes.
but... a reboot for any reason will be followed by a bootloop.

might be the failed pixel experience installation 🤷‍♀️

edit 22.5
ya, it was that.
installed PE recovery, format system, data and cache. just after i did it with LOS recovery.
sideload FW with TWRP and from then on it was normal again 🥳

phone seems to function perfectly again 🤞

so original problem happen when i installed 18.1 on an old FW.
still don't know why PE installation failed though 🤷

anyway, till next misshapen 😁

The ROM works ok but there are two bugs that render it unusable:
1 no microphone on calling out on telegram, Google duo, Google meet, works ok on receiving the call or on Bluetooth
2 no headphone support, doesn't recognize headphones doesn't route the audio

Bugs were reported over a week ago

@gringo80 is it possible to contribute the fixes to microphone (and whatever else you think appropriate) to the lineageos gerrit for code review? Not everyone is comfortable installing mods.

<Moderator Edit>: Quoted post removed.

Lineage core devs don't like proprietary parts being added.

@gringo80 how about only the microphone fix? does it require any proprietary parts? as far as I understand, any lineageos maintainer can merge your patches, not just the device manintaner, so why not try?

so, does this forbid you to submit a patch for review? do you know lineageos is opensource project, right?
Unless you prefer to keep the source code of our patch secret, I don't even see why we are discussing this.

Lineage OS is an open source project. They merge code patches coming from developers who have coding skills.
Mods that just replace files with proprietary ones and change configurations are not considered patches.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    What's not working :
    • You tell me
    Instructions :
    • Download the latest build and gapps
    • Reboot to recovery
    • Format data (if it is first time installation)
    • Flash the latest build and gapps
    • Reboot
    Downloads :
    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Dear ginkgo/willow users LineageOS is back !
We are working to promote our devices to 18.1, few things to do are left such as pushing all and opening ticket.
    Changes are open at: https://review.lineageos.org/q/status:open+-is:wip
Source will be the same as Official lineage 17.1 ones so clean flash will be needed.
    Stay tuned !
