Hello, I am using this ROM - crDroid for Redmi Note 8/8T | Android 13 (Build date: 2023-02-14) on my XIAOMI Redmi Note 8T 3/32GB.
I have two questions:
  • How to enable SPLIT SCREEN function in this OS? On original MIUI V12.5.6.0.RCXMIXM this Split-Screen function was working perfectly.
  • Also how to increase Internal Storage by using SD card? Is it possible?
Best Regards.

You don't understand me - I want to increase internal storage by using SD card as FULL INTERNAL STORAGE - link2sd and app2sd is not working properly because apps are not working anymore after moving to second partition. I want to use method something like it was in earlier versions of LineageOS that you was informed how to use SD card - to use it only like a disk for files OR to use it like INTERNAL storage - i need to know how to do it in this ROM : crDroid

It is not working because CDROID has not any option to MOVE APPS TO SD CARD.

Is it possible for author to add an option like it was in oiriginal LINEAGEOS mode that you could format SD card like an Internal Storage?

I need this this so much because 32GB internal memory capacity on my REDMI NOTE 8T is not enough for me and I want to use my Fast SD card to increase internal memory capacity by using my SD card.
If it is asking, then I will try this ROM and see if it is working, becuase right now I am using APPS2SD PRO with ROOT privileges (MAGISK APLHA) but it is not working great - if I move/link DATA FOLDER (which is the biggest file of every app) to SD CARD, then the app will not start and you can wait a MILION years to start the app. So I need something like it was in earlier versions of LINEAGE Os that you were able to Use SD CARD like increaser of your internal memory capacity.

Also, I have second question. Why on this OS = CDROID the SPLIT SCREEN function is not working at all?

crDroid doesn't do splitscreen on other devices either.

in developer option (near end of it) there is a "Force allow apps on external - maybe this could help?

my intra storage is "encrypted" - i forgot format /data after flashing this ROM - as i read this is mandatory for avoid encrytion?)

i like to decrypt it.... is it possible without reflash+format+etc?
i'm especially interested in what is the solution via Orangefox recovery :)

as i see crDroid doesnt allow this from inside - under "Security" i cant change "encrypt phone".

+what should be set in OrangeFox for "force decryption during rom flash"?
+ can orange fox decrypt phone?

(i came from ResurrectionRemix A10--- this "force encryption"-thing is very new for me...)

+ what about disable_dm_verity_forceencyption script? or should it also have been installed before the ROM?
in general, can it still be used (be)for A13 roms?

Ok, I found the 100% working solution how to format SD card as an internal storage and now it is working perfectly and there is not popping any error with this info:
Attempt to invoke virtual method 'java.lang.String android.os.storage.VolumeInfo.getId()' on a null object reference.
Just flash the ZIP file in Recovery mode that I attached here i and restart the phone. Now you will be able to format SD card as Internal Storage.
I tested it in on two different XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 8T phones with ARROW OS installed and CDROID OS installed with TWRP RECOVERY version 3.7.0_12-1-ginkgo and it is working perfectly!
Just remember to have VERY FAST SD CARD!
Then you can install APP2SD from Play Store and then select applications and move them to ADOPTED storage.

Today I flashed once again brand new version of crDroid for Redmi Note 8/8T v9.2 (Build date 2023-02-14) and SPLIT SCREEN is not working at all.
Can the author fix it?

Is it just a normal flash (over the rom itself)? Thanks for the help.
Yes, just only flash this file and reboot and boot up system.

I want to use my old 8T as a remote: for both infrared and smart devices over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
I don't care much about features - only battery life and device's responsiveness matter to me. crDroid seems to be the most bloat-free distribution which makes it my top candidate.
Should I just get the newest version, or - judging by the comments - there's an older rom that would fit my needs better? If so, which version exactly is the least battery-hungry?

I installed crdroid 9 in my gingko and used it for more than a month, since it came out, but I had this feeling the battery was draining much faster.

So, to do things in a proper and professional manner, yesterday I reinstalled crdroid 8 to compare the battery lives of both roms. I turned airplane mode on before going to sleep, just like before. The battery was at 96%. This morning, after 10 hours, the battery was at 95%. See the difference?

I'm sticking with crdroid 8 for now. It's stable, the battery life is the best I could get, and both roms look the same to me. But I'll come back to crdroid 9 later when the next update is out to see if things get better.

Instead of just installing crdroid 8, maybe you could install crdroid 9, test it for 24h and tell us about your own experience. I still feel like I'm the only one with this problem here.

Hi everybody. I've been using this ROM in my ginkgo for a month now, but despite some users describing the battery life as good or excellent, I feel the battery is draining pretty fast actually, compared to the last crdroid-8 ROM I was using before. I'm talking about stand-by mode.

I leave my phone for a few hours, I lose 5% battery. I leave it overnight (in plane mode !), I lose 10%. Now I'm wondering, should I wait for the next update, or should I go back to crdroid 8? Battery is important to me and I don't see a big difference between A12.1 and A13 anyway...

I also have a problem playing my ogg files and the only way I can fix it is by hiding the vorbis section in /vendor/etc/audio/audio_policy_configuration.xml, as written here:

But I have to do it every time I update the system. Is Android already bugged when it comes out of Google labs? Does anybody have the same experience? How did you solve the problem?

Thanks to everybody, specially DarkJoker360 for developing this wonderful ROM for our device!

Yup. It works properly. Just make sure you're clean flashing
    Thanks, not new on this.
Was probably the old DFE build, I'll try with DFE-NEO next time.

EDIT: After a clean install (including 'Internal Storage') everything works.
ROM looks stable (even more than latest CrDroid 8.x builds), only drain 2% over night on a phone with a 2 year battery.
Working with Magisk, microG and DFE-NEO (Disable Force Encryption NEO). Attach DFE-NEO settings for anyone who wants to use it.

    Changed settings:
    Code:
    Disable QUOTA= false
    Flash Magisk= false
    Skip warning= true
