Anyone found a workaround for the AOSP Keyboard crashing in numeric mode?

Code:
What is your--
LineageOS version: 19.1
LineageOS Download url: https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/full/gts4lvwifi/20220829/lineage-19.1-20220829-nightly-gts4lvwifi-signed.zip
Gapps version: N/A

Did you--
wipe: No
restore with titanium backup: No
reboot after having the issue: Yes

Are you using--
a task killer: No
a non-stock kernel: No
other modifications: No

Provide any additional information (observations/frequency of problem/last version it worked on/etc) as needed:

When you enter a numeric entry field on a web page (eg entering a Zip Code / Post Code), the AOSP keyboard goes black and crashes.

forget "shut off on screen close" - how about just any kind of automatic shutoff while the tablet is inactive for x minutes. Is there REALLY no setting for this? Any known root solutions for this?

Follow up to this: there's an app on f-droid called WiFi Automatic that does, word for word, what I was requesting. It even turns it on when the screen comes back on.

It seems to be working for me and it seems to be in the google play store too. Some SEO Key words to help others searching to solve this problem:
android 12, wifi, sleep mode, wifi auto-off, wifi auto-on, wifi off on sleep mode, "can I automatically turn off wifi in sleep mode in android 12"

Not a true true solution but based on recommendations I installed OpenBoard as a replacement for AOSP default. I find it to be as good at least, better in many ways: it has a "split keyboard" option that puts a spacer down the center, making it easier for both thumbs to hit the keys rather than traveling all across the screen. It also allows for height percentage adjustment and other customizations.

Thanks. I'll try that. Is their an easy way too switch boards on the fly? Or just in settings?

I just upgraded to 19 from the last 18.1 and now the fingerprint reader is not working anymore. It behaves as if there is no sensor. I can see the old fingerprints in the settings but can't add new ones and the sensor just does nothing when trying to unlock.
I did not update AP and BL but I understood that this is not necessary anymore:
I'd rather say "no" due to this merged today change:

gts4lv-common: Update blobs from T720XXU2DVG3
Change-Id: I5af1c0432b754b2409b2848640c1574b3fde17c0 | AOSP
(VENDOR_SECURITY_PATCH := 2022-07-01)

I assume that with this change the next

" lineage-19.1-20220829-nightly-gts4lvwifi-signed.zip" will updates VENDOR SECURITY PATCH. It would mean no need of further updates of AP and BL for customers.

And another question: Is is possible to change the yellow/brownish color? I find it rather ugly...

You need to upgrade your firmware in odin: https://github.com/luk1337/gts4lv-fw/releases

I know that this was necessary in the past, but the post I quoted says that it is not needed anymore. So what does this patch do if not updating the firmware? It does update the vendor patch level string.
🙂 "VENDOR_SECURITY_PATCH := 2022-07-01" merged together with "gts4lv-common: Update blobs from T720XXU2DVG3". It does mean a vendor firmware update.

For some reason it won''t "take" even tho I flashed the AP & BL. The system reboots but is stuck on the older March release of 19. Does anyone have any suggestions on what steps to take to fix the issue?

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 12, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project, with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS GitHub organization. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Instructions :
Downloads :
Reporting Bugs
  • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel, or you installed Xposed
  • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
  • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

I just wanted to show my appreciation for the hard work done in supporting Lineage for the S5e. The Lineage support is the main reason I bought this model. Thank you! Runs great.

LOS 20 would be great to see at some point. A microg version would be cool too, but I'm just happy this has any kind of support.

After a fresh install of
via TWRP and a complete wipe the system boots but lacks all audio features.

I also updated the 2 Firmware files from the upper link via Odin...

Anyone has a hint what´s missing ? Anyone know how to fix this or is this a bug in the most recent 19 ?

All this talk of Android 13 and Lineage 20.

Has anyone managed to breathe deeply and clear their mind and meditate on the fact that Android 12 and Lineage 19x are a retrograde step from Android 11 Lineage 18x ?

For my money I would have preferred that Android 12 never saw the light of day. Bad interface. Bad battery. No actual benefits.

And if Android 13 is more of the same, then Thanks but No Thanks.

I can hear the clarion call already from the We Must Have Updates brigade -

"Update or we will withhold all security updates, and might even hound you to the ends of the Earth".

To the right-thinking brethren amongst us, let your united call be a sane orison -

Is anyone else finding that the keyboard case doesn't work anymore? Not a Bluetooth one, the Samsung one with the pins I thought my keyboard might have broken so Igor another, but it doesn't work either.

Is there some new setting I'm missing to enable it?
Still works for me. But the connection with the pins has always been spotty for me.

    My SafetyNet works great.

    Magisk 25.2 Zygisk enabled
    Universal SafetyNet Fix 2.2.1
    MagiskHide Props Config 6.1.2 v137
    Flame Gapps 220920
    LineageOS 18.1 20220425 nightly

The difference is the Gapps and the Lineage version. I will not be changing either of mine any time soon.

The idea that A12, or even A13 heaven forfend, are a step forward is utter nonsense.

By all means go with A12/13 provided you don't need proper working GPS, Wifi, SafetyNet, fingerprint, and a decent battery life, and anything else from the MOUNTAINS of bug reports.

This is not a criticism of @LuK1337 's ability. They have shown themselves to be very decent devs over the years. THis is about MASS HYSTERIA and following the lemming pack over the cliff edge.

Low battery consumption is important for me. I want to use my "new" tablet for internet, online banking and mails. So should I better choose LOS18 and not LOS19?

You could always try both and see which is best for you.

My preference is very clear, but your experience may be different.
