Hi, I'm not new to installing LineageOS but I've never really followed the official guides. Since I was thinking to move also my 1+7t to this ROM, for once I opened the official guide and to my surprise I found the entry about updating "updating to the newer vendor firmware".
Is this really necessary? I have always thought that it comes when available with an update of the custom ROM. Is this incorrect?

The ROM firmware must be different to stock firmware somehow.
For some of us with a particular model, the mic doesn't work after flashing the ROM. Flashing the stock firmware after flashing the ROM fixes the mic. If your mic is fine, you don't need to flash stock firmware.

Thank you for the answer.
If someone has more technical insight, maybe the maintainer themselves, I'd appreciate some extra technical details.
Thank you.

About updating firmware on hotdogb:
If needed, you can download the required files for updating your firmware here (unzip and follow the official instructions ... use LOS recovery in fastbootD mode)

What does baseband update mean for us? Its not that much left until November. Its important for users to push Oneplus the right direction for longevity.

I started to think if I want this update at all. Not long time ago my second SIM stopped working. AT&T turned off 3G near my home (I guess) and it was unable to find network. It was able to see AT&T on the first SIM, but not on the second, even though I have enabled LTE for the 2d SIM. That was on OOS.

Now I have switched to LOS, enabled dsds, and the second SIM can connect again. I am not really sure what will happen after baseband update, but probably will not touch what's working.

On OP7T / LineageOS .. What I did was modify build.prop and inserted the following: persist.radio.multisim=dsds; persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds & persist.vendor.radio.multisim_switch_support=true.
I tried using set prop but noticed that it was only temporary, so I went with build.prop.
Inserting only "persist.radio.multisim dsds" didn't show up as a dual sim phone and I wasn't able to enable DSDS.
I have added these settings using setprop and without touching build.prop. It seems to survive reboot and just now it has survived OS upgrade. Both SIMs register in their networks.

For the record: HD1907 (TMO variant), first updated to global, then turned to LOS 18.1. Magisk rooted.

Question: LOS ROM tends to be too bright to me with autobrightness. OOS was too dark despite all "machine learning". Is there a way to tweak brightness levels associated with light sensor reading? Just direct curve edit. Seems pretty basic thing, but no satisfactory answer. Something like "Velis autobrightness app" but working.

Can anyone help with missed calls and texts very delayed? I'm on TMO prepaid. I use this rom coming from the TMO 7T varient > Global rom > Los 18.1, and having hit or miss calls and messages. I sometimes get a text or call in real time, but other times I get delayed texts (bunch at one time) and callers often say it goes straight to voicemail. Sometimes I dial, and popup says "Can't connect to network" even though phone displays online wifi + LTE. Or, I send a text, and error is "failed to send message". Usually reboot the phone will send that message. I think it's associated with transitioning in and out of wifi/lte but can't put a finger on it in terms of roaming around networks.

For this ROM, I've updated 2-3 times since it's been available, but still stuck with this issue.

As a note, I put the TMO sim in my old 'decomissioned' pixel 2 to test sim card, and all calls/sms seems fine for the week I used it.

Thank you!

Thanks for the tip. I deleted the TMO apn, and re-entered info per TMOs guide. I did notice APN Protocol was set to IPv6 rather than IPv4/IPv6 as instructed.

I'm not sure what you mean by reset network other than toggling it on and off.

It's in the reset section of settings. There's a "factory reset" option, which will destroy your data, and a "network reset" option. Which will reset everything networking related, but not destroy your data. Although you will have to reenter your WiFi network, and maybe APN (but usually not).

This is the default fix for lots of networking issues. So you'll want to figure this out.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

For those unhappy about the camera app situation I've found that the stock Oneplus camera app can be installed and used with a few caveats. This was tested on the May 30th LOS build, below I list a few notes to keep in mind for anyone interested:
    1. In my limited testing, APKs with version number 3.X.X are the newest ones that can be installed and actually work. Specifically 3.8.116 is the most stable I've found. The apk can be download here (APKMirror link).
    2. The app will always crash upon normal launch. In order to use it you must long press on the app icon and select one of the popup shortcuts (Pro, Take a video, Selfie, or Portrait). Launching from any of these shortcuts the camera app will work and so far I believe all the camera features work.
    3. There might be occasional crashes mostly due to switching between camera modes too much (Most notable on other 3.X.X versions).
    4. In Photo mode (not Pro mode) the aspect ratio button works only on 4:3 and 1:1, switching to fullscreen will render photo mode unusable as the app will crash upon switching to it. Other modes will still function as normal and Pro mode can use fullscreen aspect ratio without issues. If you accidentally switched to fullscreen aspect ratio in photo mode then it can be fixed by clearing the app data.
    5. The gallery button does not work, likely due to the missing oneplus gallery apk. Probably it will work with it installed but I haven't tested that yet.
    6. Systemlessly installing the app to the system folder does not improve anything. So installing the apk as any other normal sideloaded app is probably the best option.
I'm not sure if the rom can be tweaked to prevent the normal launch crash. Though I'm not expecting anything from the dev about this. The app works without much issue and I'm trying to workaround the launch issue with tasker. Hopefully I'm succesful with it.

Latest August 1st Update seems to have screwed up the fingerprint unlock.

Re-scanning the fingerprint works, but the issue is unlocking the phone with the fingerprint.

It almost always says "Not recognized".

This was not an issue before this update.
