I just did a clean install of the 20190821 nightly + asus camera to test and the camera works. Then i used the the os update functionality to install 20190822 nightly.
After the update+reboot the camera is gone and flashing it again from lineage recovery does not help. The recovery log shows no error and says "install complete" but it is still not visible in the os.

1. What is the recommended way to update the rom?
2. Is the camera flashed to the active slot or maybe to a static slot thats currenly my inactive one?
3. Where is the recovery.log stored and does it persist during a reboot? I could not find anything usefull on google.
4. Where does the os store the updatefile after downloading? Can i copy a new nightly to that location so the updater does not have to download it?
5. is there any way to fix the cam in my current install.

1) OTA
2) Current slot
The camera addon is currently broken because of a bug in lineage, a fix is under review.
Might be needed to wipe data and re-install lineage+addon to fix
3) /data/misc/update_engine_log
4) /data/lineageos_updates/, no you can't as a security measure, only downloaded files can be flashed
5) As said before, likely not, I tried

Thanks!

Next issue: "wipe system" in recovery says: can't give path "/system" to format_volume
System wipe failed
The lineageos instructions then go on to say
If you want to install any additional add-ons, run adb reboot sideload
but adb says
error: device unauthorized.
This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set

Also, it would be nice if the recovery GUI took account of the shape of the screen - one can't see the characters on the bottom left while the process is running (very minor nitpick).

So i tried sideloading using recovery, but that said:

Signature verification failed
Proceed anyway?

I proceeded anyway,

and then, since "adb reboot" gave an error, tried the recovery reboot, and YES, finally, now running lineageos.

The mindthegapps sideload clearly failed, but hey! progress.

So thanks!

I was too lazy to take into account rounded corners for recovery... maybe next iteration
For format system I have a WIP patch to fix it

adb isn't supposed to work in recovery, just adb sideload is allowed

If you touch recovery, it would be great if you could change the standard behavior when a job finishes.
For example when flashing a zip or wiping is finished it jumps back into the main screen of recovery so you can not read the log output of that flashing/wiping to see if everything went ok. You have to go to advanced log and scroll through the complete log to check.
It would be great if it would not jump back to the main menu until you pressed a button. Thank you.

Instructions :
  • Download the latest build and gapps/addons
  • Boot to recovery
  • Flash the latest build
  • Boot to recovery again
  • Flash gapps/addons
  • Reboot

Just a question about the instructions above:

After "flash the latest build" (I assume via "adb sideload"), it says "boot to recovery again" - but why is this necessary, since recovery is still running?

Anyone from Germany on T-Mobile?
Does VoLTE and VoWiFi work on the rom?
With my OnePlus 6, I had to use the oneplus Logkit "function" (via *#800#)

Because this is a A/B device and by default ROMs are installed on the other slot, rebooting make sure the slot is switched and recovery can use it

The latest version of lineage recovery (20180827) gives an error when asked to wipe /system.
The log shows:
-- Wiping system...
Formatting /system...
W:Failed to unmount /: Invalid argument
E:can't give path "/system" to format_volume
System wipe failed.

I assume this explains why trying to load gapps gives an error about "not enough space on /system"?

(Also, the lineageos install guide still includes the misleading phrase "run adb reboot sideload".)

Just in case it's useful info: the lineageos recovery starts with the following error message:

E:Failed to bind mount /mnt/staging/emulated/0/media/0 to /storage/emulated/0: No such file or directory
E:emulated failed to bind mount /mnt/staging/emulated/0/media/0 to /storage/emulated/0: No such file or directory
Stopping adbd...

Is it adb reboot sideload while in recovery or Android? The latter is proper.
Also this isn't the reason why Gapps fails

It's normal if userdata is encrypted

That's what I thought, but following those directions, one is still in recovery when asked to execute that command.

Perhaps the process has changed recently, but zips like open_gapps used to have to be installed *before* rebooting the system - in which case there is a missing directive to "reboot system" before "adb reboot sideload". So, still confused :)

Just got the latest Official build installed and I am impressed. Fixed 2 of my biggest complaints about the Zenfone 6, wifi calling and Volte on Tmobile. Also the Asus camera zip that OP posted is literally the exact camera from the official rom and carries over all the features of the Flip camera. I love it!

Are you sure wifi calling is actually working? I enabled it but I don't see that the call is a wifi call and also if I turn it to wifi only calling I get a mobile network not available message and the call fails.
These are my two biggest reasons for going with custom rom over stock. I too am on tmobile.
My signal also drops LTE as soon as a call connects.

I followed this guide: wiki.lineageos.org/devices/I01WD/install
Everything up until Step 8 worked.
I then rebooted (tapped reboot) and got an immediate black screen. I waited a few minutes, still black. Tried to turn on, boot into fastboot, etc, nothing. LED won't light up upon charging, either.
What should I do?
Is it bricked?
Thanks in advance.

Take out your sim and sdcard and long press power or power + vol up. That worked for me.

Thanks for the official builds, Luca.

I just got my ZF6 and looking at this thread, it seems that some problems are still being fixed. I have a few questions, if someone has the time to reply:

- If I was to change to Lineage now, what would I be missing compared to the stock ROM? I used LOS before, I taking about device-specific functionality.
- Is it possible to customise the assistant button?
- I guess I would have to install the Asus camera to use most functionality. Can I use other camera apps?
- Any major bugs?

Thanks in advance.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (Pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :
    • Download the latest build and gapps/addons
    • Boot to recovery
    • Flash the latest build
    • Boot to recovery again
    • Flash gapps/addons
    • Reboot
    Downloads :
    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.
