No, it doesn't stop, you will need the computer to reinstall twrp and no, it doesn't touch your data.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10 (Q), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Nope, ROMs are device specific.
Absolutely not. That would definetely break your phone. Look for one in your device ROM page
It's not so much that the method itself changes, it's that the method can differ depending on what you use for recovery, etc. If you're coming from stock, then follow the lineage wiki steps to get up and running.Hello people and thank you for all the information. I have a new Motorola G7 Plus that I want to install LineageOS to (I guess that is why I am here). Anyways, I have read through much of the 20 pages of thread here and it is obvious that the method of installation to this phone changes as people go through the install process (finding what works and what doesn't). My challenge is that I can start with the instructions on wiki.lineageos.org, however, I then need to go through all this information to try and determine what parts of the install process I need to change/adjust. Can anyone tell me if the instructions on wiki.lineageos.org get updated in light of all these findings? Is there an updated/common set of instructions to follow anywhere?
Hi! I had the same problem, I went crazy looking for a solution. In the end the problem was my notebook, I can solve it by installing the boot.img from an old PC with Windows 7. I recommend you to try this option directly before trying other options. Regards!I', following the steps 1 to 1 and when I try to boot twrp or lineage recovery terminal just says "Sending 'boot.img' (31612KB)" and the message never updates, I've tried different USB ports and different USB-C cables. Is there something wrong with my PC or are the latest recovery and twrp messed up? I can verify the phone is connected with adb and fastboot shell.
EDIT: nevermind, there was a front USB port I didn't try yet
Seems to be legit. I doubt April's fool joke will stay so long.Do we really have official Android 11?? Or was that an April 1st joke??

Hi, well I gave this a go today on my Moto G7 Plus (brand new) and followed the directions as per the Lineage Wiki. Things were going ok until I downloaded and flashed the Lineage 18.1 recovery img. Essentially the phone will not boot up now (it just sits on the Motorola intro screen). It does not want to boot into this Lineage 18.1 recovery. Do you have any suggestions - any idea why Lineage recovery will not start? Would it have been better to divert from the instructions and flash with TWRP instead? If that is the case can I just flash the TWRP at this point (as the next step - will it just overwrite the Lineage)? I assume the latest version of TWRP for Lake would be appropriate? It's not so much that the method itself changes, it's that the method can differ depending on what you use for recovery, etc. If you're coming from stock, then follow the lineage wiki steps to get up and running.
EDIT: And things get complicated when people don't follow the directions and/or skip a step.
Try redownload and reflashing the recovery. You wiped all data after flashing rom right?Hi, well I gave this a go today on my Moto G7 Plus (brand new) and followed the directions as per the Lineage Wiki. Thank you for any advice you are able to offer.
If you followed all steps on wiki exactly, you should have been fine. You can opt to use twrp instead of lineage recovery, but you shouldn't have had any issues with lineage recovery unless you tried to fastboot boot lineage-recovery.img or tried flashing it to recovery partition (fastboot flash recovery lineage-recovery.img). Lake doesn't have recovery partition and instead recovery is inside boot.img. So lineage recovery needs to be flashed to boot partition to work. I don't know exactly what you did or didn't do, I'm just posting example scenarios that would land you in your same position.Hi, well I gave this a go today on my Moto G7 Plus (brand new) and followed the directions as per the Lineage Wiki. It doesn't sound like he made it that far.Try redownload and reflashing the recovery. You wiped all data after flashing rom right?
