I experimented the last couple of days running without USNF, Shamiko or Zygisk enabled to see if it would make any difference, but still getting video hangs and RCS messages getting stuck until I Force close the app or Play Services. Next I'll try different GApps just to be certain of that variable.
In summary, this issue seems to be independent of :
- Installation: dirty or clean flash
- Gapps: MindTheGapps, NikGapps and BitGapps
- Magisk (root)
- ih8sn
- Firmware 11.C.66 (no sweat on 19.1)
- device model
- device (lemonade and lemonadep).
This issue leads to many "FAILED BINDER TRANSACTION" and/or "transaction failed" in logcats.
Workarounds: Force close Google Play services or reboot the device!

What more can be done to help maintainers ?

One more workaround: set running services in developer options to none. But i do have issues with google services mentioned here too.

Of interest, my wife is running latest OP8T Pixel Experience 13, which is based on Lineage's trees, and doesn't have any of these issues, so either it's something completely isolated to the lemonadex trees, or there's some secret sauce somewhere to be discovered.

This issue is related to lemonade and lemonadep devices as there is no such issue for other OnePlus series (5T, 6T and 7T running latest LOS 20 - daily drivers of my wife and children).

Play Services is fine, probably because of OTA issue, you need into Recovery flash gapp.zip again.

But media playback probrem has been bothering me for a long time. and yes, in Firefox/Fennc/Mull, Keyboard unable to type on the webpage except for the address bar, occurring at the same time as the playback issue, I think maybe is the same issue.

I'm wondering why only some people have these problems, what am I missing?
I am seeing similar problems:
  • Tasks.org widget fails to sync after some time
  • Firefox (and all forks I tried) stop accepting keyboard input after some time
  • Discord fails to save files after some time
I ran adb logcat while triggering each of these issues, and for each one, I see "FAILED BINDER TRANSACTION" and/or some other exception code related to binders i.e. DeadObjectException. Not an Android dev so I'm BSing this next statement based on google/what I saw in the logcat - maybe there's something hogging the internal binder buffer? Still looking into it myself, will reply here if I find anything.

Important to note though, I'm technically not in support here. For one, I was running LineageOS for microG when doing that logcat, currently flashing stock Lineage to see if the issue persists. (Edit: Yeah, this happens on stock Lineage, with no gapps or system apps installed at all.) Maybe more importantly, my OP9P is an LE2127 someone seems to have converted or spoofed to an LE2125 and resold online (thanks, Amazon). Is it possible this is specific to certain models? Can anyone running a genuine Lineage-supported OP9P model number with a genuine signed LineageOS ROM confirm they're having the same issue? If we could narrow this down to a particular model number or something, that might help narrow down what can be done to fix this (though in both of my cases it's admittedly not the LOS maintainers' problems).

I can post a full logcat on request but I will need to take some time scrubbing some personal info out of it.

I used Tasker to setup a task that would automatically kill play services every hour, which helped a bit. But between Firefox and other random apps having so many problems, and the fact that it's kind of stupid to have to kill play services over and over just for my phone to work, I gave up and MSM'd back to stock. And because why not, I did the process to MSM my T-mobile to EU then to Global, and OTA updated to the lastest Global OOS 13. It's as terrible as I assumed. So much bloat, unwanted features, terrible/ugly UI, etc. But at least everything seems to work.

I'm looking at maybe trying that Xtended rom, assuming I feel like wiping and resetting up SO MUCH stuff, yet again, for like the 7th time in 3 days. I really hope someone figures out the issues here, so I can get back on LOS. I guess I could do some more MSMing and go back to LOS 19.1, but at this point, I really want to be on A13. I also don't want to be stuck without security updates and whatnot.

FWIW, LOS 19.1 is still getting monthly security updates. I've been wanting to update my 9 Pro to LOS 20, but I'm holding off until I see evidence that these various issues have been taken care of. I'll just keep doing my monthly post-security update upgrades and bide my time.

Yep same problems with NikGApps Full here, though it did seem like it took longer for the issues to occur with more GApps as system apps.

Pixel Extended thread reads like it receives few updates and has a number of ongoing issues. So it's probably back to 19.1 for me as well.

Edit: I even tried copying lib/lib64 libbinder* from a working device's latest Lineage 20 build (for kebab) with no change in the issues, so whatever it is it isn't because of binder directly. 🤠🤷‍♂️

I think 19.1 only gets monthly security updates for devices that didn't move to 20 in the build roster, unfortunately.

I guess it's fortunate that I build my own fork of LOS 19.1. ;) (I keep forgetting that part. You're right in that devices that have LOS 20 don't get 19.1 updates anymore. My bad.)
However, I might consider creating and posting LOS 19.1 builds for the 9 Pro, at least until the problems with LOS 20 are solved. These would be unofficial builds with absolutely no changes from stock LOS (so don't ask for any ), and I would probably make them available only when new monthly security updates are incorporated into the 19.1 branch (or if one or more major bugs are fixed that would necessitate a new release). If/when I decide to do this, I'll create a separate thread for them.

i am also seeing the `FAILED BINDER TRANSACTION` issue (at least daily). here is all the information i can provide:

- model: `lemonadep` (OnePlus 9 Pro) LE2123
- lineageos version: happened since the first 20 build i installed, and currently using `20-20230131-NIGHTLY-lemonadep`
- gapps: MindTheGapps `13.0.0-arm64-20221025_100653`
- magisk (required for safetynet) at `25.2` (with `Universal SaftyNet Fix 2.2.1` and `Hide Props Conf 6.1.2`)
- current gms version `23.04.13 (190400-505809224)` (also already tried to "join beta", with no change)

already tried:
- rebooting
- force-stopping
- re-granting the permissions i could
- clean data & cache
- uninstall updates
- disable & re-enable
- factory resetting (via settings)

(i did not try to re-flashing everything yet)

Symptoms:
- No profile picture in many Gapps (not all though)
- Google Play "manage" window is not open-able as long as no profile picture is present
- some games load infinitely until GMS is restarted
- some games just disconnect the connected google account but continue working

Workarounds:
- rebooting
- force-stopping GMS (`com.google.android.gms`)
- starting Google Play Game (yes, it is weird, but this makes GMS responsive again)

PS: i had already opened up a [reddit help request](https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/109zec6/los_20_oneplus_9_pro_google_gms_issues/) before i knew it was related to `FAILED BINDER TRANSACTION`
PPS: also having the firefox "not accepting input anymore" issue

Note: attached is a small excerpt of when the issues occur from logcat

OnePlus 9 Pro
tl:tr
I lost Google Play Services after the OTA update. All Google apps are crashing and every few minutes a pop-up appears saying: Google Play Services keep stopping.

Context
• I'm on a fresh LOS20 install for more than a week
• Google apps were working fine because I followed the instructions on the LOS page (including flashing GAPPS before the first restart)
• This evening I received the OTA and I downloaded and installed it
• Before restarting I opened Magisk to install to the inactive slot (after OTA)
• Magisk asked me to reboot, and I did
• Then the problem appeared
• Tried installing Google Play Services apk and wiping the storage/cache and still no luck

Please help
This will happen when you are using bigger gapps packages. Use either mind the gapps or Nikgapps core.

On Los 20.0 I have similar issues like the issues above (just to complete the list a little bit):
  1. K9 mail and OpenKeychain (for gpg encrypted mails): after some time K9 cannot decrypt mails any more (something like decrypt error no access to key provider).
  2. 'Todo Agenda' widget cannot load calendar entries after some time (shows 'loading...' only or shows an empty list)
I do use plain lineageos only, no gapps, only f-droid store with 'privileged extension'.

Workaround for daily use:
  1. Force stop OpenKeychain under Settings->Apps before mails needs to be decryted. Or install something like SuperFreeze. Only side effect, no passphrase caching.
  2. Remove the TodoAgenda widget, install Etar and config default view to Agenda and use a one click Etar-Agenda instead of a one swipe TodoAgenda. The Los-Calendar(etar) still uses its own default view.
With this I do not need to go the long way back to 19.1.

edit: build from 20230208 fixed the K9 - OpenKeychain issue. Todo Agenda not testet atm.

Looks like they got the fixes pending. It was a kernel issue limited to sm8350 devices (so older models like kebab were not affected).

Tip of the chain if you're building your own: https://review.lineageos.org/c/LineageOS/android_kernel_oneplus_sm8350/+/348363 (everyone else has to wait, probably not much longer at least)

I've had it running a few hours now, no more camera coming up black, no more play services or firefox crashes, and it just feels a ton better doing anything on the phone. Finally! I had to hold off trading in my 8T and eat the cost because I couldn't rely on the 9 Pro as my main the past month or so.

Do I need One plus F.20 firmware to flash LineageOS? Or should I ask what is recommended firmware?
Firmware is included in package. Just flash and go

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Some news regarding this longstanding problem and the fix described below:

New suggestion from LuK1337 in the issue thread here
    Code:
adb shell settings put global cached_apps_freezer disabled
or I guess the equivalent setting in developer options. Remember to reboot after changing it.
I'm trying it myself now, will update in a day or two with results...

Edit: 12h in... I'm 99% sure this has solved the issue. Have not experienced Firefox crash message, Firefox input failure, media playback failure or games failing to load, all of which happened pretty reliably previously.

According to the LOS Gerrit, this change has been merged into android_kernel_oneplus_sm8350. Also, the changes to move the OP9Pro to the OOS 13 firmware and binaries (in the kernel, android_device_oneplus_lemonadep, and android_device_oneplus_sm8350-common) are in the process of being incorporated (some have already been merged, others are still in code review). That should mean that when OP9Pro releases resume, it'll be with the requirement to finally update the necessary firmware to LE2125_11.F.20. And the peasants... rejoiced. 😁

Thank you for your work so far, and will there be any support plans in the future😉
Depends on the outcome of this comment - https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/5384#note_1284136018

Thanks, yep been reading up on MSM tool. I used to be a big fan of TWRP when we were running with LG V20 and earlier days but seems like there are still various problems and gotchas with it for OP9Pro. Magisk doesn't play nice, or it does if you hold your mouth this way while you flash, etc.

So we've stuck with Lineage recovery on this device. I do have good memories of TWRP though and hope it fully gets there someday for OnePlus 9Pro.

Thanks for responses - appreciate it!
Just for future reference, Android 12-13 TWRP is pretty much feature complete for OP9x: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...twrp-with-a12-a13-encryption-support.4523857/

Will be made official soon. @der_akinator has done an amazing job, and in a remarkably short amount of time!

Okay, for those of you who'd like to switch back to LineageOS 19.1 until these problems are resolved (or just want to stay on 19.1 for whatever reason), I built an unofficial release right after the February ASB patches were merged. Links are provided below for the zip, sha256, and recovery image files (you'll probably have to flash the recovery image first since the LOS 20 recovery would consider it a downgrade and refuse to flash the zip; either that, or use TWRP). This is pure, unfiltered LineageOS, with absolutely no changes made by me. You should probably turn off system updates after installing so that you aren't pestered to upgrade to LOS 20, which would defeat the whole purpose. 😁

This will be the only build I make available until the next ASB patches are available in March, or if there's a fix for any serious issues that are merged into the 19.1 tree in the interim, as the LOS team usually doesn't do anything other than minor fixes to previous releases (their major work is concentrated on the current release). Also note that I'm not providing any support, I'm just making 19.1 available to those who want it. 😉

    ROM: lineage-19.1-20230218-UNOFFICIAL-lemonadep.zip
    Checksum: lineage-19.1-20230218-UNOFFICIAL-lemonadep.zip.sha256sum
    Recovery: lineage-19.1-recovery-lemonadep.img

Let me know if the links aren't working (they're on MediaFire for now, which I haven't used in a dog's age) and I'll try to fix them.
