[ROM][OFFICIAL] Lineage OS 18.1 for Pixel 4 / 4 XL

If anyone is wondering, magisk beta 24 works well with LOS. I'd recommend changing the feed within magisk app config to use the beta channel and update the app and magisk itself through magisk directly. That's how I did it and it works well!!

--EDIT UPDATE-- YES it works well, BUT I do have issues with SafetyNet so I am working through them so for now, hold off on upgrading tot he BETA MAGISK (stick with ver23).

OK final update on MAGISK 24 (BETA but it's about to be mainstream) so better to be ready now, then be late and not know how to do something, causing issues!! I got SafetyNet working with MAGISK 24 Beta, you need the following (ZYGOTE MUST be ENABLED in MAGISK 24), + SafetyNetFix (ZYGOTE). Reboot after enabling ZYGOTE in MAGISK settings, then reboot and test.

To all the users:
Would your recommend to switch to this ROM from the stock one? Is everything working as it should? I have problems on stock with Bluetooth connection to my smartwatch (notifications not going trough sometimes) and battery life of Pixel 4XL seems to be quite low. Would this rom improve?

I'm my opinion yes to both because you can tweak everything within LOS so my battery life is phenomenal. But I don't have any BT issues on stock or LOS so I can't comment there but everything else, definitely will improve!!

Great! Maybe will try LOS + Magisk(with all the GooglePay/SafetyNet mumbo-jumbo) + Kirisakura kernel combo.

You're doing something wrong then, ROOT/MAGISK on LOS works perfectly fine. You simply need to patch the boot.img then flash that to boot but don't use whatever zip method you mentioned. ONLY use the patch boot method. Also what kernel are you using, stock or 3rd party? If 3rd party, flash back to stock, ROOT and try again then let us know the results (but only use the patch boot method).

I used patch boot method and tried to root on lineageos stock kernel.
I successfully root on stock rom.
I used stock rom boot.img for patch.

How are you getting the LOS boot.img? Make sure you're patching the LOS boot, but not the bootloader or stock boot. I know it gets confusing but you can only use LOS boot with LOS so you must patch that LOS boot. I've seen it many times before, users patch the stock boot by accident or the LOS bootloader image but not the boot.img.

Got it your point.
Thanks.
How do i get lineageos boot.img?

no worries, its what I figured happened when you said the touch stopped working. Thats almost always an indicator of a wrong boot.img used. You need to get it with the DL of the ROM, follow the same link but grab the boot.img and patch then use only that image:

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11.0, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    What's working

    • Adaptive charging & extreme battery saver (proprietary)
    • Pixel Stand features (proprietary)
    • Feel free to report any issues you may encounter with relevant logs

    Installation

    1. Download the latest supported Lineage OS build and recovery (boot) image, and ensure you are on Lineage OS 17.1 or Android 11 already.
    2. Reboot to bootloader
    3. Flash the provided boot.img to both slots (fastboot flash --slot all boot boot.img)
    4. Reboot into recovery and factory reset for initial install
    5. Sideload the latest build of Lineage OS (adb sideload lineage.zip)
    6. (Optional) Reboot to recovery again and flash gapps of choice (MindTheGapps are recommended)
    7. Reboot to system
    8. (Optional) Flash custom kernel / Magisk

A more detailed installation guide can be found on the wiki.

    Updates

Simply repeat steps 5 - 7. You shouldn't need to flash factory images as all partitions (firmware, vendor etc.) are updated with the lineage zip.

    Lineage OS 18.1 (20/1/21)

    • January ASB
    • Fixed inconsistent gapps install behaviour due to virtual a/b
    • Added the ability to reboot to fastbootd from advanced restart options
    • Various bug fixes and improvements
Thank you for tolerating the frustrating gapps installation issues on the last build. This substantially delayed this months update but I'm pleased to finally be able to provide one with this fixed. Gapps installation should consistently work now.

Official builds are now available for downloading. The migration process from my unofficial builds is as follows:

    1. Download the latest version of Lineage OS and the lineage recovery image for your device from here.
    2. Reboot to bootloader
    3. Flash the recovery image to your boot partition (fastboot flash --slot all boot /path/to/recovery.img)
    4. Reboot into recovery
    5. Flash the official build of Lineage OS (adb sideload lineage.zip)
    6. If you have gapps installed, reboot to recovery again and ensure you flash gapps again before booting into Lineage OS
    7. Reboot your phone and enjoy!

If you are coming from a previous version of Lineage OS, please refer to the wiki.
