So does this support F2Fs on the system+data+cache partitions or it just only the data and cache?
There is no point in formatting system partition, either ext4 or f2fs.
Usually you get a small improvement when formatting data as f2fs.
As said before, N9 performance is suffering a lot due to encryption primarily.
Then I would disable ZRAM and swap process.
Lastly format data as f2fs.

Which method did you use to disable zram and swap? I use the Swap torpedo magisk module but with that my tab crashes constantly overall very unstable.

I never played with swap.
ZRAM can be disabled from aroma installer in elemental X kernel.
You could try tweaking stock kernel options using kernel adiutor (swappiness) instead of using the module to find the sweet spot. Probably device is requiring for some swap to work properly.

You can flash a custom kernel like elemental X to get rid of forced encryption as well.

My N9 is running very good with this setup:
Latest lineage build
Pico gapps
Lineage su add-on for root
Elemental X
Data formatted as f2fs
No encryption.

Most of the performance loss is due to encryption, so get rid of it as soon as possible.
How to disable encryption? Just flashing the kernel? Thanks

And I have to do this each month after OTA linaege Update?
No. Device will remain decrypted over ROM flashes.
If I am right, ROM itself is encrypting device, so it would be worth flashing a custom kernel along with the ROM each time.
I would recommend ElementalX kernel. :cowboy:

there are several ways....Just format data etc...or >
see & here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389

Kernel : ElementalX or better (my opinion) Fire Ice : https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/orig-development/kernel-fire-ice-t2930451

( you will need to reflash the kernel after a rom is updated...before Flashing you must to read carefully in OP!)
sry for english

Hello,
I've searched through the thread but didn't find the info, do you guys know whether lineageOS 14.1 on nexus 9 supports widevine DRM (not sure if flashing LOS is affecting those libraries)? if so, is it L1 or L3? thank you

Thanks for continuing the updates for this device.. I'm extremely glad LOS is keeping the 14.1 stuff alive currently.. while this device is no where near what it used to be it's the only customizable tablet I have and would have been given to the kids whom would have no doubt destroyed it by now lol

I've just rooted, twrp & installed lineageOS14.1... all seems to be running as expected but I keep reading advice to flash a fresh kernel. I'm still on stock.

I'm guessing it's a battery thing. can I get a link and recommended kernel for LOS14.1? thx

there're only 2 real options are ElemantalX and Fire&Ice. ElementalX is not as smooth as Fire&Ice but passes SafetyNet, Fire&Ice fails SafetyNet. Depends on your usesage with the tablet.if you use Netflix or any other DRM protected stuffs you should go with ElementalX

thank you. that's exactly what I was looking for. is there a recommended/proven version of each for the N9?
