you're changing roms (going from official lineage build to my build). that's why your screen shot says, "cant install on top of incompatible data. run a factory reset"

so you have to wipe data, or use migration zip.

So I'm fairly sure my N9 has died. It was running the last official build. It crashed during normal use (not uncommon, it locks up and needs rebooting 1/2x a day) but this time it would not reboot normally. I needed to hold the power button down for 30 seconds before it will boot.

After holding power button for 30 seconds it boots but then powers off while still at the "Google" initial display.
Power+vol-up for 30 seconds will reliably get to the boot loader, I can always select hboot.
If I select recovery, it makes it to TWRP about 50% of the time, the other 50% it powers off while still at the "Google" initial display.
If TWRP does start, it seems to work fine. Three times I've tried to reinstall (after wiping and formatting) using latest unofficial May image but each time it crashes. First time it got past signing me into my Google account, I selected which apps to restore from backup and it was about to start restoring when it crashed. It then went back to rebooting immediately after initial "Google" display. Second time it crashed while it was still displaying the initial Lineage boot animation. Third time it didn't reboot. Each time it's able to mkfs and copy the files without issue.

When it first stopped working last night I'd sometimes get garbage/artifacts flickering all over the display (initial "Google" display, a couple of times when TWRP booted) which doesn't sound good.

Device charges fine and displays power-off charging animation ok.

Anything else to try before giving up?
