YouTube often uses VP9 instead of H.264 now (never H.265). Nexus 9 can't decode H.265 or VP9 in hardware. YouTube can be forced to H.264 though with browser plugins. I'm not sure what the Youtube app uses. Nexus 9 should be able to handle 60fps 1080p H.264 with hardware decoding.

Update: Saw WIFI region in Japan. Switched back to U.S. then works...
------original------
Found something a bit weird: when switching to airplane mode then switching WIFI back on, it won't find any 5G WIFI. Only 2.4G networks...

1.) disable webm: Firefox gets only mp4-files which can be decoded by hardware. It's also a neat trick for old computer-hardware with eg. Atom-cpus and Nvidia-graphics.
2.) no

And don't fall for "cyanogenmods.org" and "getdroidtips.com". It's **** ...

Hi Spielmops,

I'm still confused as to what this does when you disable it. I've read many disable v9 and webm to reduce cpu usage. Is this why you recommend it?

Should I also disable v9? If so which is the code?

In about:config many webm references come up. Look at the screen shot. Which is the right one to disable?

.

I just removed the dust from my nexus 9 to use it as a cooking assistant, and I'm very happy to see that it's still supported, thanks to you razorloves !
bootloader, vendor, twrp, rom, and gapps (open_gapps-arm64-7.1-nano-20200103.zip) updated.
In case somebody has the same small issue : it wasn't booting when I flashed rom + gapps, so I flashed rom, booted, then flashed gapps, and it worked.
Don't know if that was due to this version of gapps or the fact that my device was between 2 and 3%, or something else.
We'll use it more tomorrow, but so far it's working well.
Thanks again razorloves

same issue here, usually one is told to flash opengapps immediately before 1st boot, but in this case it worked only with a reboot in between

thanks for the updated build!

Thank you so much for keeping this device alive. I have 3 little bubbles in the upper left corner of the display, but I will use it till the end. :highfive:

I would really like to buy a Lenovo Ideapad Duet, but it seems that it will not be released for the german market. :crying:
