The phone keeps freezing randomly

I am new to flashing custom ROMS and just recently learned the vocabulary about it. I made the leap and installed Lineage OS 14 about three weeks ago.
Since then I've been having random freezes through the whole day, some days it happens around 5 times at least, others about 10-15. The phone just freezes and then restarts if I give it some time.
I tried reverting the baseband version to the one that came with OOS 3.1 because I read it could be the issue, and I have already updated twice (as the updates are released weekly) hoping an update would solve the problem, but so far, it is the same.

Have any of you faced those issues? (I know some have, cause I've read it) But I want to know if there's any workaround, or if I should try another ROM (Maybe I'll give RR a try, in that case, do you recommend the official or unofficial build?) or reverting back to Oxygen OS (I really would prefer to have the software updated, but I need a stable and reliable phone).

Thank you all

Try latest nightly. 21/09/2017. I'm on it and it seems stable and smooth so far

i have a strange issue since last 3 builds.
phone suddenly freeze completely (just black screen). than i just can hard reset (10sek power) it.
But there is no sheme. one time it appears when i plug in the phone or like a few mins ago when it lays on my desk.
if i flash a other kernel the problem is gone.

regards.

The new build is smooth but has major issues as the phone just goes off/hangs in locked state when not in use. Also, I noticed that the phone went from 23% to 0% (off) in less than 10 mins. The quality of the builds has gone from good to bad.

I appreciate Ozzy's efforts, however the kernel definitely needs to be fixed, as without this, the project is as good as dead.

Two things.

Lost text message. Been in notification, disappeared after clicking on it. Been long so thanks, great.

Second. After they fixed network drops it was fine for week or two. it's horrendous now, horrible is bad word. It's worse.

I blamed it on having Boeffla kernel (my apologies to Andy) and kept alternating but it's very bad on stock. Must have been change was reverted. I don't believe it's any kernel leftover as formatting system and cleanly removing his app.

Need new build.

Cmon dont blame him. Make it better if you cant wait
I agree with you! Did you donated or did you pay him for his work? I think not! So don't be a prick and wait. We all need a stable rom. Try other ROMs and you will see that all of them have this kind of bugs. I'm on LOS 15 now and I think that this is the best ROM out there, execept the video camera bug that it has. So If you don't want freezes try that one :)

If you want to flash latest weeklies, just flash boeffla or Franco kernel. Works fine and buttersmoothly in my case and it's been 2 days. No crash no handle or whatsoever

Same for me with latest build and Boeffla.
(first two hours with stock kernel had 2 freezes)
Any distinguishes between boeffla and francos?

In my personnal experience, Franco seems smoother than boeffla, but that's just me
It's a difficult comparison.

Boeffla uses new rebased 3.10.107 kernel like stock LOS does, which is in fact a great performance leap for our phone compared to old kernel. This new kernel has Qualcomm's core control module which is intended for a better battery life. Well our stock kernel needs work for it to work like intended, but Boeffla at least has the performance perk of it as I see some elements of UI which used to lag in older kernel are now smooth and snappier in Boeffla and stock both. Also, Boeffla did something really epic to keep his kernel far stable than the stock LOS one. I personally noticed that new Kernel rebase has its pros which needs to be appreciated and we should keep our patience and wait for @Ozzy2403 to fix the kernel. He is working very actively for our device.

Franco didn't rebase his kernel. He still uses 3.10.105 kernel, which accounts for its stability. Now Franco doesn't use any core control module (Not even OnePlus' H-Cube) but keeps all core in low power idle state instead of making them offline which does add to it's performance and overall smoothness. The other part of it is its tweaked governor which saves on-screen battery and its aggressive thermal throttling which isn't noticable in real world usage. There are many UI elements where old LOS kernel lagged and Franco lags there too. (Eg. Pixel search bar animation)
