Yes, that's what I figured. I have JBL2, but if there's no sound, I'm not sure. Thanks for building it for us.

Thanks. You're doing great job!

Do these builds include only security patches or all other changes from lineageos releases as well?

It can contain yes modification if there is in the source of Lineage, already in the tree of the device will not have since there is nobody working on it carrying these builds that compile only includes the same security patches

I bricked my phone Friday. Installing twrp and lineageos fixed it, made it work better than new.

I was on Android 8.0 april 2018 patch and no ota ever came and I tried to force it and bricked her. Here are some caveats from this experience, maybe it will make it faster for someone else?

1 make EFS backup, make copies
2 I got error 255 flashing a lot. Data partition had to be formatted a few times, then put ext4, then mount, then flash
3 I only could get 3g at first because os wouldn't let me add new APN and root changes were overwritten on reboot and had no effect.

The way I got LTE back was to add APN to apns-conf.xml on my laptop. Then adb push to phone sdcard. Then change ownership to root. Permission to 421 rw-r-r. Then adb root shell to sdcard, only after mounting partition. Copy your frankenstein xml from sdcard to /system/etc/apns-conf.xml

Make sure ownership is root root and permission 421

Power off, make sure sim is installed and no other sim or sd card.

Power on, select top APN, and enjoy your device they way it was meant to be experienced and enjoyed. :laugh:

The OS looks slick, finally I see my bluetooth speaker battery remotely, awesome!

Got this cool visualization preset into lock screen and I just formatted don't have any apps or music on internal so this is just from browser stream.

Why didn't I do this long ago? This is my first custom rom and I love having root on off switch in the os menu that doesn't reflash or delete anything.

So cool man, I've been to scared of bricking a three figure (new) phone. But since it was already bricked I charged on. Even learned how to change esn. Which I didn't and I know fcc would find out and kick me in the nuts, but I know how to in theory.

This phone hopefully will give me more use. I bought it in 2017 and overpaid so I could get free financing, super regretted it until know.

Wish I had the video game controller mod. It's I think $50-80 used and new on eBay and such but my pins look not great after the years of being in my pocket and mitts.

Do I really need an SD card in order to flash LOS ? Afaik the internal storage can still be seen in Windows even when using TWRP. I just want to make sure I don't screw anything up because I don't have an SD card and was curious if I could just format internal storage -> boot into TWRP -> drop LOS and GAPPS into the storage via Windows and then flash them ?

I doubt it. I had to reformat put I guess you could do that, and then copy the stuff to internal and try? But doesn't seem like it will work. Having an sd card is cool and that's how it's designed, maybe pick one up?

A bit of help maybe?

Hello everyone! after reading a lot i wanted to flash LineageOS-15.1 to my moto Z2 Play.
Im a bit of a noob on this, and have a couple of doubts and dont want to brick my device, so if anyone could help me to clear them it will be much appreciated.

So far i
1) unlocked bootloader
2) flashed twrp-3.2.1-0-albus.img recovery
and here start my doubts
A)how to know if my twrp is 64bits (I tried to find some "about" on the twrp but cant find any information) i already installed SuperSU and Magisk with this twrp but honestly dont know if it is 64Bits
B) difference between format and wipe? ( as far i understand is "wiping" both caches and /system, but not sure if im correct about that)
C) wich version of Gapps should i download? 8.0 or 8.1?
D) i read a much more complicated flashing method in the comment #434 from this thread, much diferent than the instruction on the initial thread itself ... so wich method should i use? just flash LineageOS and Gapps and its done? or have to use the #434 method...

thanks for your patience!! and apreciate your answers in advance.

A) There is no 32 bit TWRP for this phone. I'm not sure if it would even work.

B) Format besides wiping data also removes partitioning and encryption. If your phone is encrypted you need to format.

C) The same as android version, so 8.1

D) Personally I installed Lineage dozen of times and never had any issues. Just format memory and install ROM (+ gapps, magisk or whatever you want).

    LIneageOS is a free, community built, after-market firmware distribution of Android re-branded CyanogeMod, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
    Code:
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     */
    LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project and CyanogenMod with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS please visit Gerrit Code Review.

    Warning!!!
    • BackUp EFS partition before installing. .If you lose IMEI , use this backup to retrieve it in future.

    Installation

    First time LineageOS installation on your Moto Z2 Play:

    • Unlock your bootloader if you haven't done so already
    • Flash a custom recovery via Fastboot (64 bit TWRP is needed)
    • Copy Gapps (64 bit) and Lineage OS flash files to sdcard
    • Boot into Recovery
    • Format Internal Memory . I repeat Format.. (Not Wipe) (after format reboot to recovery)
    • Flash the LineageOS zip from SD card
    • Flash GApps from SD card
    • Reboot
    Upgrading from earlier version of LineageOS :
    • Push the new LineageOS zip to your SD card
    • Boot into Recovery (64 bit TWRP)
    • Flash the LineageOS zip from SD card
    • Flash the most recent GApps (64 bit) for 8.x
    • Reboot

    Bugs
    • You tell me

    Reporting bugs
    • DO NOT report bugs if you're running a custom kernel
    • DO NOT report bugs if you've modifies system files
    • DO NOT report bugs if you've installed xposed and/or other mods
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
      Code:
      adb logcat > logcat.txt
      Code:
      adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt
    • If it is a random reboot, grab kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
      Code:
      adb shell cat /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log

    Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues or bugs reported in the lastest 5 pages of this thread. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.
    Code:
    Phone Informations
    * LineageOS version
    * Gapps version
    What you did:
    * Wipe data: y/n
    * Upgrade from previous official cm build: y/n
    * Restore with titanium backup: y/n
    You're using (if yes write which one) :
    * Task killer
    * Phone cleaner / Battery enhancer apps
    * Non-stock kernel
    * Modified kernel settings
    * Other mods
    Bug info:
    * Last version it worked on
    * Repro steps

    F.A.Q.
    • ROOT! ROOT! Give me root or i'll die!!! Where root is???
      First of all DO NOT flash any SuperSu/SuperUser/SuperMan zip package to get root. Go to Settings>Developement Settings>Root access and select "Apps Only"
    • Why no nightly today?
      Build failed. Check again tomorrow
    • When do I have to wipe data?
      You must wipe data only when you're switching from another rom or migrating to Snapshot branch from Nightly and vice versa. You don't need to wipe data when you update in the same release channe (this applies to 13.0 -> 14.1 upgrades too)
    • Will you add <insert awesome feature here>?
      I won't. If you write it, submit a commit to gerrit, where it will be reviewed.

    The LineageOS team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!
