Format data with yes or flash DFE if your data is decrypted and you don't want to encrypt data.

Thanks, that may be it, but I never heard of DFE before when flashing roms and can't find an official thread. I have never had to format storage when clean flashing roms. Is it because Los17 forces encryption? Even Miui.eu doesn't force encryption. Also infrag says only format data including storage if coming from MIUI and encrypted data, which is not my case...

By formatting data, you mean formatting internal storage aswell? Because there is wipe /data which I did, and format /data which erases internal storage afaik.

Those above who flashed successfully, did you format internal storage aswell?

There are multiple gcam threads which you can read thru if that is of interest. I'm always confused by statements about the home screen as if you don't like the default, why not change it or install a launcher from Play store of your preference? At some point, larger versions of Andrdoid 10 Gapps will be released and include Pixel Launcher. Happy testing.

@infrag,
Prior LOS17 build passed SafetyNet CTS, latest versions fails. Kernel change? Not a critical issue just passing it on.

Thanks for the heads up about safetynet. I did indeed forget to re-add the changes to kernel.

I've updated the link in the OP as well. (Its the same build as last time but with the kernel patches for safetynet)

I have tried to install latest build as in OP but reboots to recovery (orangefox)
My drill was:
1) wiping all partitions except internal storage
2) flashed OP firmware, march 4 rom and nano gapps
3) reboot system

no error messages during process.. :(
reverted to previous rom backup successfully

I used latest stable orange fox. My phone is decrypted so i just wipe system, data, and cache then flash fw, los, gapps, and magisk. It work

@infrag,
Can you clarify the recommended firmware? I initially flashed using stable Q firmware but in your updated notes it says use MIUI P-based builds.. Maybe you can edit the first post? Not that it matter now right now but is the plan to migrate to stable Q firmware to use newer blobs? Thanks as always.

Not sure which firmware is preferable although I wiped and did a clean install using MI8Global_V11.0.6.0.PEAMIXM_45261e66d2_9.0.zip and updated LOS 17.1 with Android 10 nano gapps and SafetyNet CTS now passes :cowboy:

I flashed the latest global firmware, then the latest build, followed by the latest nano gapps and I can't download lots of apps and SafetyNet CTS fails.

Edit: I flashed again using TWRP instead of Orange Fox and I can download apps. CTS still fails.

CTS check is failing for me, too. I haven't noticed before, actually I'm pretty sure it was OK just after the installation of latest build, now it fails. I'm able to install apps and updates anyway. It happens with Magisk installed.

Maybe a prop issue? Hopefully infrag knows the solution.

Is this in your PA builds that you are referring to?

    Edit:

It seems even lineage-16.0 is failing now. It would therefore seem likely that google has updated its Safteynet checks and therefore it fails when it used to pass.

Both pa and los. Someone told me that is Google issue, this also happened on some pixel devices after the March update.

I'm having issues with playing videos while in a Skype call with speakers enabled. All videos are slow motion and have no sound. If I disable speakers and switch to the receiver, the videos play normally.

Another issue is that when on a Skype call and connected to the car via Bluetooth, I sound robotic to my chat partner. This was never an issue on Lineage 16. I also could watch videos while on a Skype call and audio routed over Bluetooth on Lineage 16. This is not the case on 17.

nfc fix has been submitted for official builds. Thanks @Wiedmann and @shatteringlass for testing.

      Excellent.
Could you do one more thing then.
Test this file also and let me know if it still works. (It has one small change and a few formatting changes)
Then I can submit this for official builds if it works.

      Hey Infrag,
just back from refueling my car and can confirm:
The new config file is working for me too :)
      Thanks.

Looks good, but is there any other solution which would not require flashing magisk etc? I am fed up with flashing, bootloops, backups... I mean I can do this, but I already lost too much time to make my Dipper work as a daily device. And my banking app works fine now...
Just use gcam. Its far easier. Ask for someone to post a link.

Good question. My lineageos is not rooted, so no magisk needed.
actually lineage official builds dont hide the fact you have an unlocked bootloader. Therefore most people get flagged from their banking apps as having an untrusted device. This includes Gpay. There are ways around it like flashing a custom kernel or using attestation hacks or as others have said using Magisk.

There are also some people who say they dont need anything but not sure how they get away with that but they are the lucky few I believe :)

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

      GPL compliance:

      Device tree source code: LineageOS/android_device_xiaomi_dipper
      Kernel source code: https://github.com/LineageOS/android_kernel_xiaomi_sdm845

      Compatibility:
      Compatible with Xiaomi Mi 8

      Build 30/03/2021

      Build notes:
      Updated CMI blobs
Used latest kernel changes by bgncm

      Build 27/03/2021
      Build notes:

I cant test volte or vowifi as my carrier is useless. Would appreciate feedback :)

      Build 20/01/2021

Recommended firmware is latest MIUI stable firmware.

      Notice:
No custom kernels are supported in this thread. Only stock kernel and official builds will be supported. No bug reports if that's not the case.

      Installation:
Reboot to recovery (TWRP recovery for Mi 8)
      Format /system, /data and /cache
      Install MIUI firmware
      Install LineageOS zip package
Install [optional] a Google Apps package of your choice

      Important notes:
      * Required * firmware version must be based on MIUI *-based builds.
Formatting data (all user data is wiped, including internal storage) is a must if MIUI was previously installed and device was encrypted.

All LineageOS team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

so the newest build 04/11/2019 uses Xiaomi Q blobs.
      Therefore it has some bugs:
I havent got bluetooth audio working yet. Bluetooth calls seem to work fine though.
Sound: Speaker works if you make a phone call first and switch to speaker during the call. After that everything else starts working.
Edit: fixed. - GPS all satellites should show up now.
Android Auto fixes probably havent been added yet to lineage but when anything shows up I'll add it.

The reason this build took so long to be released is that Q radio blobs kept causing a reboot when data was used and switched to low power mode. I believe I have fixed this.

Edit: Uploaded the correct build now. Also added in gps fix

Also fyi I'd hoped to have anther build up by now but since lineage has changed to 17.1 branches instead of 17.0 my build system is a bit of a mess. Waiting for all the repos to be updated to 17.1 before releasing anything. Hopefully it wont be too long...

18/12/2019 finally a working q build with q blobs and working audio.
havent tested it a lot so any bugs let me know. There will be a v2 of the audio fix/change. This fix was just to make it work. :)
