I need help. How do you install an update? At LOS17 I was able to download and install it. That no longer works. I have now made everything new. Wipe System and Data. Then LOS18 from 3.6 and Mindgapps installed. Then restored all of my apps. Now I wanted to install today's update. Neither OTA update works nor the installation in recovery. Boot loop. What's wrong with that? Why is it? I've been flashing different systems for years, but there are only problems with LOS18. How do you install an update?
Just a guess because that happened to me: are you using TWRP? Do you have a replaced screen? TWRP currently can't boot with some of them as the kernel doesn't support the screen. Lineage Recovery works fine in this case.

Hey guys,

Just done a clean flash from LOS 17 to LOS 18 and everything seems to work great.

I just noticed that TWRP has been replaced by LOS recovery.

Is there an easy way to get TWRP back as my recovery?

Thanks guys and thanks to @infrag for all your hard work, much appreciated

Thanks for your help.
I think my Mi8 is defective. I have now deleted everything including formatted data. Then TWRP installed (Orangefox was previously installed), latest firmware installed, LOS18 from 3.6 installed, MindtheGapps installed. Then started without any problems. Then I downloaded LOS18 from June 10th and tried to install. I have now carried out this procedure several times. Every time bootloop into recovery. Finally, I have now installed LOS18 from 10.6 directly. Now I'm curious whether the next update will run smoothly.

@infrag may we have a new unofficial once the June security update has been merged? That would be great! Thanks much!
Uh yep sure. Sorry didnt think anyone was using unofficial builds. I'll upload one soon. If you prefer I can also upload stock lineage kernel with safetynet fix and you can flash that with latest los builds (till there are kernel changes you care about).

Kernel with safety net fix would be brilliant. I think that people use unoficial builds because of that. My suggestion is you upload one per month latest kernel with safetynet fix?

Sorry, I don't want to spam. I've been using Lineage / Cyanogen for 10 years but I've only had problems for a few days. LOS18 runs without problems on my Samsung Note 4. Everything works fine there. Just not on my Mi8. It started with the update from June 10th. OTA update does not work, Google Pay does not work, PlayStore is not certified, Android Auto does not work. I have tested different recovery, different GApps, even factory settings and completely reinstalled, but now I don't know what to do next. I'm pretty disappointed now, especially because there are no problems with others. Why is that? What am I doing wrong.? It is quite a job and time consuming to restore everything. At the moment I have installed a backup from 5.6. I have no problem with that.

But I would like to use the current version.
How do I get the Playstore certified?
What do I have to do to make Google Pay work?

Either one appreciated but the unofficial will be easier to update I guess since I can just flash it without having to restore everything (different signatures, right?). And yes confirmed, I'm just after the safetynet w/o need for Magisk... guess it's the same for many others and the LOS official policy is a bit stubborn in my view ;)

Of course you must be doing something wrong. Nobody here has such severe struggle with the official LOS builds. No offense - just a fact.

But we can't help you when you don't exactly describe what you have done and on which point it goes wrong.

It's not that hard to install at first the latest TWRP, then the latest LOS-build together(!) with the latest firmware an the latest OGApps test build (or those from january, but AA won't work with them).
If you do so and you do it properly, nothing can go wrong. Because that's the way how most of us here set up our devices. It's really that easy. 🤷‍♂️

Don't try stupid/magic things... Don't use obscure sources! Wipe everything and start a new attempt with a fresh, clean install...

If that won't help... I don't know...

I've upgrade yesterday from 17.1 official to 18.1 official. Open GApps pico had been installed on 17.1. I upgraded with MindTheGapps. I did a "dirty" upgrade, so no data wipe ;)
Only problem was that wifi and bluetooth didn't start after installing an update from 18.1 to 18.1 but that could be solved by cleaning cache.

FYI:

=> New 12.5-Firmware incoming for our devices. 😉

How can I put that on the device? Or is it included with LOS?

The firmware is not included. As soon as Xiaomi releases the new ROM version you can download the firmware here: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/dipper/

Is there a reason why we didn't see an update after lineage-18.1-20210624?
    Yes:

    But they are running again:

Maybe you can see the issue with last 18.1 from 24.6.

Thanks for update. Battery life looks very good... :)

I see difference in color richness between LOS 17 and LOS 18. On LOS 17 colors was vivid but on 18.1 are like washed despite I set colors to 'Boosted" in Screen settings. It's only me?
I can actually reproduce this, contrarily to others who stated it was not a ROM-related issue, but some steps are needed to trigger it (and probably it is not HDR-related)

It's certain apps that, when viewing media content (even non-HDR content), cause the display color profile to get messed up. You can reproduce this by viewing any image on Slide for Reddit (open source Reddit client).

It is also a problem which affected LineageOS some years ago, and now it's back. It did not affect LOS17.1.

In the attached screenshot there are the only log lines seemingly related to this issue, which get written as soon as the app displays an image (and cause the color profile to get immediately messed up)

With the latest build i have massive camera problems. With BSG GCam Mod i can make a piture but HDR never completes. After a while the camera app doesnt open anymore. Also the Build in camera app says "Can't connect to camera" and also the flashlight is not working. I found an older thread that describes the Problem: https://gitlab.com/LineageOS/issues/android/-/issues/1769

I switched back to 2021-06-17 Build an now the Camera is working fine.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

so the newest build 04/11/2019 uses Xiaomi Q blobs.
    Therefore it has some bugs:
I havent got bluetooth audio working yet. Bluetooth calls seem to work fine though.
Sound: Speaker works if you make a phone call first and switch to speaker during the call. After that everything else starts working.
Edit: fixed. - GPS all satellites should show up now.
Android Auto fixes probably havent been added yet to lineage but when anything shows up I'll add it.

The reason this build took so long to be released is that Q radio blobs kept causing a reboot when data was used and switched to low power mode. I believe I have fixed this.

Edit: Uploaded the correct build now. Also added in gps fix
    17
Also fyi I'd hoped to have anther build up by now but since lineage has changed to 17.1 branches instead of 17.0 my build system is a bit of a mess. Waiting for all the repos to be updated to 17.1 before releasing anything. Hopefully it wont be too long...
    15
18/12/2019 finally a working q build with q blobs and working audio.
havent tested it a lot so any bugs let me know. There will be a v2 of the audio fix/change. This fix was just to make it work. :)
    14
    new build in OP.
For android auto users unless I say otherwise I have not fixed your problem yet. :|
