@techmanc I've used flashify to install many recoveries. Sorry it gave you trouble. Did you download twrp image yourself from their site for installing? I usually don't let flashify download it. Glad you got it sorted.
Are you using the triband s3 by any chance?
I let app d/l twrp and appeared to install correctly fist time using app but looked good I had also got it it online after some googling.
Every time after I tried to reboot into recovery after that got stuck with the blue text saying loading recovery.
Then found this website with the info you stated and how to add twrp via odin which I followed just got the newer twrp tar I found.
Then the main problem was not seeing my recognizing my phone to see it using odin which I think instead of using the boot phone sequence I hooked up the powered off phone to my pc.
Then when I turned on phone I got the choice in Odin 3.09 to choose number 2 to flash it. Thats the best I can remember I getting usb part to work.
I did not play around once it looked good to flash. Once flashed my old ROM booted and I now have TWRP for future recoveries which was main thing I wanted to move on from no longer used Phiz which was great for me while it lasted.

Here the website for I used trwp install which I used except I hooked up my off phone to my pc that was running odin 3.09 and usb worked for me that way and pretty sure I chose 2 with down vol button then use the odin instrutions from there

For Completion here the TRWP link for there newest ones

How would I know if I have a triband phone?

If it was a triband, your model number would end in t. Like sph-L710t.

That part is hard but my problems had to due with the phone not being recognized properly by Windows as usb device and thus not being able to use Odin which it requires which was causing me the most trouble.
I even tried with 2 different PCs I had available with same problem.
My only problem with that has been that it must be on a USB 2.0 port. USB 1 will not work. Install the samsung drivers (not kies), use a quality usb cable and you should be good to go.

The only other thing that has given me grief is when the USB port on the phone goes bad. I have replaced it myself twice, but I don't recommend it unless you have a hot air station and are familiar with SMT soldering.

Ya I just checked my sig and its is showing a non t model which I just double checked and it is showing right model number and now added my new TWRP recovery to my sig bye bye Phiz
Still debating on whether on not a Lollop ROM is worth giving up my Kitkat for which I really.

It really is tbh, but that's just my opinion cx
If you do decide, I would recommend PAC-ROM, or a CM-12.1 Build.
AICP LP is kinda buggy for me.

I get some power-offs when doing updates, backups or shortly thereafter when running on battery. Before I figured out what it was, I could only do updates if I put my phone in a freezer. Now I plug in my phone while updating and that seems to stop the problem. I think it's a problem with the power regulation chip...

The unfortunate situation is that as much as we all love the S3, we are all pushing beyond the lifespan it was probably engineered for. :(

Try plugging it in if you see it happen again.

Just heard from my son he is getting multiple random reboots randomly with no warning sitting in school pulls phone or and it is off
Is it reboots, shutdowns or both?

Shutdowns (pull it out and phone is off) tends to be hardware (battery near end of life, etc). When I have seen software crashes, the phone tends to reboot.

I have had problems like this and tried or got a new battery and problem solved, not always though.

Just curious if anybody is experiencing issues similar to this. I am on boost mobile and have been running and older beta version of this. Have been trying to update to the newest official Bill. I've tried December 9th 2015 and January 6th 2016 bills. None of these will allow me to actually get a data connection. I've tried the APN fix as usual. No go.

EDIT: fixed, I wound up having to flash the rom and then the APN fix and then the rom again allowing it to boot in between each time and finally achieve LTE data

Just an update...

PAC has given up on AOSP based distribution and is going back to CM for marshmallow. IMHO, this is a move in the right direction and will result in a release.

Right now the base up on github is basically straight CM, the core devs will be adding in the PAC features you know and love. The powers that be request no public releases of PAC until it's ready.

When will that be? Only the wind knows...

Going forward, there may another release of PAC L for d2 devices, but I'm putting 95% of my effort into M at this point. Upstream work on L seems to have also dried up.

The good news is that L is a great release and if I had to be stuck on one for a while, this is it.
