Is the camera issue limited to LineageOS or is it also found in other custom ROMs or even in the official MIUI ROM?
Is it limited to specific firmware versions?

I saw posts where users are reporting problems when using the MIUI stock camera in the "Pro" mode and increasing the exposure to 1 second or above. I don't know if it is the same issue. But I don't know whether the stock camera was used on a custom ROM or on MIUI.

I own the 4 GB version and I can confirm an issue with the camera when using gcam or other apps which access the camera on LineageOS 18.1. When the picture stops updating in the viewfinder you can get it to work again by switching the mode (e.g. change from "Camera" to "Video").

That is not a real Solution.
It keeps freezing also in what's app when on video calling because Android 11 automatically uses the stock camera.

@erfanoabdi: There is a solution to fix the camera issues on lavender according to the maintainer of the RevengeOS ROM @raiyanbinmohsin.
It keeps freezing also in what's app when on video calling because Android 11 automatically uses the stock camera.
I have messaged the maintainer of the lavender LineageOS 18.1 ROM about this. Apparently the camera issue has been fixed in the RevengeOS ROM so there is a working solution.

Does this rom support face unlock or is there another Lineageos based rom for this device with more modifications?

Same problem with camera here. I was trying to install various alternative cameras, but no one worked. Now I cannot even open camera any longer, it says: camera not installed. Any application which is using camera is not working.

Really annoying. I should have red complete thread before installing Lineage 18.1. I think I go back to LOS17.1 which was working just fine.

Hi,
I'm trying to understand how gps works. (theory, physics, computer science, etc...)
i'm using lineageos 18.1 on lavender.

If i take a look at gps.conf, it seems to me that A-GPS is disabled, because
#XTRA_SERVER_1
#XTRA_SERVER_2
#XTRA_SERVER_3
are disabled, and I would expect them to be
XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin

Am-I right or wrong, and why?
Thanks

I just checked here (LOS 17.1-20210518-NIGHTLY-lavender), and there's a comment on top of that block stating:
"# Uncommenting these urls would only enable power up auto injection and force injection (test case)"

So, it doesn't seem they being commented-out disables A-GPS.

Additionally, I checked with the latest GPSTest (com.android.gpstest.osmdroid_18093.apk from https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.android.gpstest.osmdroid/) and immediately after a reboot it showed GPS fix coming up really fast (5 seconds or so), which I don't think would have happened so fast unless A-GPS was involved.

PS: shouldn't we move this to a specific and/or new topic? Doesn't seem relevant to the main discussion here (ie, bugs/features/releases of the official Lavender LineageOS).

Cheers,
-- Durval.

I think it is related to a local / country specific configuration of lineageos. Let me please add a few words about it and let's forget it.

I had problems for monthes. Sometimes I had gps within seconds, sometimes I had no fix during minutes with a clear and open sky.
- I commented out and configured XTRA_SERVER 1 to 3
- I added 4 ntp servers for my country and 4 ntp servers for europe

Now I have a gps fix at my window, with surrouding buildings. I don't understand.

Now my problem is that my settings will disapear with each ota update (i guess?), and my phone is not rooted (i modified gps.conf with the file browser of twrp and i don't want to root my phone)

ok, let's forget it.

Just a question please. I see that the title of this discussion is [ROM][OFFICIAL][NIGHTLIES] LineageOS 17.1.
I'm using an official Lineageos 18.1. Is this topic for both versions?
Thanks

There is a Magisk Module for your GPS config file.
After every update you reload the Magisk Module.

The 2021-12-28 build contains several big changes to the camera. I have not tested it yet, but this might be the one, that fixes the camera issues.

msm: camera_v2: bring back lavender to oldcam impl

Newcam implementation made by Xiaomi has too many flaws to be rather stable. Just bring it back to oldcam, like other Xiaomi sdm660 devices.

There is even a commit, which enables 240 fps slow-motion, but sadly it got reverted:

Good news: The camera does not freeze anymore.

My tests to try to reproduce the camera freeze:
    • Make a video callfor a duration of ~30 minutes each:
      • via Signal using the back camera
      • via Signal using the front camera
      • via WhatsApp using the back camera
    • Take some pictures and videos with gcam (MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1x)
During those tests there have been no freezes of the camera the way I have experienced in the past.

In addition to updating to the new LineageOS build I have also flashed the new firmware V12.5.3.0.QFGMIXM from https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/firmware/lavender/ since one of the commits in the new build is mentioning it.

    Slow motion video in gcam:
    • 1/4 (120 fps) slow motion is working, as it did in the past
    • 1/8 (240 fps) slow motion is not working, as it did in the past - the resulting video seems to be a stuttery 1/4 slow motion video
    Astrophotography in gcam:
    • Does not work: The process finishes after ~5 seconds even though the count down starts at ~1½ minutes and then results in a completely black picture
(The regular nightmode is working - no issue there)
    • Astrophotography was also not working in the previous LineageOS builds, so this is not a new regression. Maybe gcam on Redmi Note 7 requires a special configuration to get astrophotography to work.
If I am seeing it correctly, the changes have been implemented by @Giovix92 - thank you for that!
Yep, those changes were implemented by me.
    Glad you like it!
I might open a new thread for 18.1 officials, check periodically the development section of this device.

    How to Install:
Please follow the instructions on our Official LineageOS Wiki page here.

If you don't follow these instructions, please don't expect support here. We also don't support 3rd party addons (Magisk/XPosed/Dolby/Viper/etc.), so please don't seek support if you use these.

    Notes:
    • Official Lineage OS builds will not pass CTS/SafetyNet -- due to the AVB flag's "red" status. (Magisk works fine with SafetyNet patcher modules, though is not supported.)

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (lavender) Losing Official Support

Edit: Good news! A new maintainer stepped up and the Redmi Note 7 is officially supported again as you can see in the LineageOS wiki Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (lavender).
    ***

Bad new as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (lavender) is losing official support as you can read in this Lineage Gerrit Code Review Merged commit: hudson: Drop Redmi note 7 (lavender): "Don’t have device anymore".

As you can read in the LineageOS wiki > Devices and check Show discontinued devices > Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (lavender):

WARNING: The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is no longer maintained. A build guide is available for developers that would like to make private builds, or even restart official support.
The old builds are automatically removed from the LineageOS servers after 4~6 weeks so you should save a copy of at least the last build & Lineage recovery if you have this model.

Naturally if an other volunteer developer steps up & picks up the torch new builds may become available again.

Thank you to maintainer @erfanoabdi for supporting this device for so long & also for all his other numerous contributions as you can see in the LineageOS Gerrit with this search.

Hey guys! I had the same issue with SafetyNet and I fixed it. What you need to do is open Magisk and there is a section marked "Downloads" look for BusyBox and Magisk Props. Install those and Termux from the app store, and then reboot your phone. Once you reboot your phone open Termux and type in "su" then grant it permission, then type "props", then "1" then "f", then type in the relevant number for your manufacturer and device (Redmi note 7 lavender), say yes to everything and then reboot.

Once I did that it passed SafetyNet and everything worked
