Well, I had a critical failure the other night. My phone freaked out, the display went dark, and I couldn't even get it to reboot itself by holding down the power button, nor with power+vol up+vol dwn, nor any other combo. I eventually had to hook up to a computer and then ADB reboot was able to get me back up and running. This was the 2nd time this has happened to me on Nameless ROM.

... and I just cannot have that. If I had been away from the house and needed to call 911, I'd have been screwed.

So .. I'm sorry, but it's back to OOS12 / rooted for me.

However, for those looking to do the upgrade, I suggest using FolderSync to back up your /storage/emulated/0 to somewhere off your device. It's easy to set up and restore, and you can schedule nightly backups of all your stuff. It only syncs what has changed, so after the initial dump, it's pretty quick. That way you can wipe your device and get all your stuff back after installing the new ROM.

Good luck, and thanks for all the hard work, devs.
I faced the same issue man. It was a mini heart attack for me.
Then, I flash latest orange fox recovery instead of the one given with rom, side load the rom and everything is fine then. I think there is a problem with the recovery.

I've been hearing good things about nameless. But could someone answer me a couple of questions that are stopping me from side loading it

Does it have the screen of gestures of OnePlus like draw a V to open flashlight or draw <> to change songs, or swipe with two fingers to pause and play music? I use those all the time and they are the reason I chose OnePlus.
If it doesn't have them, is there a way to get them back?

Does it have the three finger screenshot?
If I install it without rooting, can I still use Netflix? And bank apps. I haven't read what security level does it have.

Just press vol up + vol down + power button

It will boot in fastboot and you can easily reboot to system .
I faced the same issue yesterday but I rebooted easily

That was the first thing I tried, believe me. I held that combo for over 60 seconds.

All I got while doing that was a bunch of rapid-fire haptic buzzing. No reboot, nothing on the screen .. nothing.

Does anyone have issues with auto brightness?

It's very buggy for me. Brightness level only cranks up and does not go down at all no matter how dark my room is. In CPUZ however, stk33502 wise light sensor does work and shows correct reading.

I'm on latest 0723 build. No root. Already did factory reset.

Hi today tried to install it on oneplus 8 c.33, did it succesfully but after reboot to system touchscreen stopped working - only physical buttons were working. Any idea why this happened? After restoring by msm to OOS12 it started working again

I don't use Windows in general and can't therefore not use the MSM tool. 🙁

Is there another way to install the new version?Maybe with payload dumper and fastboot?

Not to get OT here, but this is another reason why I plan to abandon OnePus/Oppo very soon..

I mean - Suprise! ..Some people are using Linux on their computer's..stunning, isn't it!?!

Yes one can install from linux using fastbootd. I did so myself. It does require some understanding of A/B slots and is perhps not supported by Nameless developers.
see
Note that one must flash OOS12 on both slots (e.g. once OTA from OOS11 and then again from local storage to other slot) before installing the new 12 Nameless version.
In fact, along same way I upgaded to latest OOS12 firmware partitions.

Yes, it has all the configurable touchscreen gestures.

Yes, it has the three finger swipe screenshot.

Netflix works fine, and the banking apps do too.

The only thing I noticed is that my Barclays UK app doesn't want to enable fingerprint login, possibly because of the bootloader being unlocked.

I followed the instructions post on this thread.
There is more than one way to approach this [take both methods with a grain of salt].

Determine which Slot you are on and switch Slots [optional]

Follow the first 4 steps of the original instructions

Start by extracting the ROM inside of a folder on your desktop

Rename the ROM file to the system such that the complete name becomes “system.img”

Ensure that the vbmeta file is present inside the folder and your smartphone will be booted to FastbootD Mode

Then, use the below command for flashing vbmeta and disable the verification check
    fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vmbeta.img

Erase the system partition through the below command

    fastboot erase system

Use the below command for flashing the ROM onto your OnePlus
    fastboot flash system system.img

Once it is done, boot your device to the newly installed ROM using the below command
    fastboot reboot

Determine which Slot you are on and switch Slots [optional]

Follow the first 4 steps of the original instructions

Start by extracting the ROM inside of a folder on your desktop

Rename the ROM file to the system such that the complete name becomes “system.img”

    fastboot set_active a or b

    fastboot erase boot

    fastboot erase system

    fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img

    fastboot flash system system.img

    fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img

    fastboot flash boot recovery.img

    Reboot into recovery

    After which, try ADB Sideloading

N.B.: Even if you see one of the below error messages, then it usually signifies a successful installation and you could reboot the device to the OS without any issues:

    • Total xfer: 1.00x
    • adb: failed to read command: Success/No error
    • adb: failed to read command: No error
    • (~47%) adb: failed to read the command: No error
    • adb: failed to read command: Undefined error: 0

Can I also follow this if I am on the Nameless 12.1-20220708-0926-Official Build? :)
Yes I think so, you just need to check if that build is based on OOS11 or OOS12 Firmware.
    1
Using 9R LE2100 (China version, but with OOS)

Switched from stock OOS 12, C33 version to this amazing ROM.

Everything works!!! Fast charge, refresh rate, winevine are all OK. Battery life is great. Thank you ROM DEVs :)

Just some notes here to help others who might encounter issues:

    - I made sure both slot have OOS 12 C33 firmware by forcing the local update for C33 twice.

    - I flashed recovery to both slots with:

    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery_a recovery.img
    fastboot flash recovery_b recovery.img

The whole process went smoothly, without any hiccup. Not even being stuck at 47% as mentioned in the original guide. The whole thing just passed cleanly.

When i write this command: fastboot flash --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta vbmeta.img, I've this message: C:\Android\fastboot.exe: unknown option -- disable-verity (and --disable-verity --disable-verification is greyed out), someone can help me ?

    From the wiki:
    • Use cmd, NOT powershell
    • Make sure platform-tools is the latest version
    • Make sure that the files you are going to flash are in the same folder with platform-tools
    • Make sure you opened cmd in the folder where platform-tools are

please help me. my phone is all black screen after oneplus logo appears... its not boot only restart.. please help me anyone... please.. i dont know how to go to edl mode forcefully now.. please help me
What do you mean by 'you don't know how to go to EDL mode'

Press and Hold Power Off and Volume Up button and release when the screen goes off. Now your phone is switched off. Now to enter the EDL mode you need to press and hold volume up and volume down buttons at the same time...and then connect the mobile to Windows while still holding the buttons. Done.

MSM tool should detect your phone - along these lines.

It always seems to takes several attempts to get it right

I went through this yesterday evening and hit many snags and confusions due to looking up different posts... So I thought I'd write down my process in the hope it helps others.

    Before you begin
    • Backup of all Data, Fully charged battery, really backup all your data
    • Know how to use Windows command prompt, move files and folders about in explorer (or know how to set the PATH variable)
    • Follow this guide at your own risk!

    Downloads

    Set-up
    1. Install ADB + QualCom drivers. Reboot is required
    2. To check, connect phone to PC, reboot phone to fastboot, check device manager for anything with a yellow "!". Then repeat when in recovery. If you have issues here Fix this BEFORE continuing

    On PC
    1. Extract Nameless ROM zip
    2. Extract payload extractor zip
    3. copy payload.bin from ROM to payload_input folder where you extracted payload dumper
    4. Command prompt -> run payload_dumper.exe (takes about 5 minutes)
    5. In the payload_output folder will be .img files. You'll need these later

Roll phone back to Android 11 with MSM tool
    1. Follow msm guide: https://www.getdroidtips.com/oneplus-msm-download-tool/. Took 900s to complete
    2. Complete first boot setup sequence, don't restore any data, skip as must as you can. Don't perform system udpate. Stop apps updating.
    3. Install Oxygen Updater -> Download KB2003_11_C.21 (Android 12) ~3.88Gb
    4. Whilst that's happening: Enable Developer Mode, Enable OEM Unlocking, Enable USB Debugging
    5. Once download complete, copy the update .zip file from root of phone to your PC
    Unlock bootloader
    1. In command window: adb reboot fastboot
    2. In command window: fastboot reboot bootloader (as soon as you press enter to run the command type and run the next one so it's waiting)
      • fastboot oem unlock
    3. Accept the text menu and phone will reboot and wipes itself
    Update phone to Android 12
    1. Clear setup asap, bypass / skip / ignore all you can
    2. Copy downloaded oxygen update from PC to root of phone
    3. Local install using Oxygen download file (ignore the system update) + reboot
    4. Enable USB Debugging
    5. In command window: adb devices -> ensure you're authorised
    6. In command windows: adb reboot fastboot
    On PC
    1. In command window: open the payload_output folder (with the extracted .img files from earlier):
      • fastboot flash boot boot.img
      • fastboot flash --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta vbmeta.img
      • fastboot flash --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta_system vbmeta_system.img
      • fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    2. Use fastboot menus to reboot to recovery (new blue one)
    3. Press "Install update" -> "ADB Sideload"
    4. In command window: adb devices - ensure it says "sideload" and not "unauthorised"
    5. In command window: adb sideload copy-partitions-20210323_1922.zip
    6. Reboot recovery from menus on phone
    7. In command window: adb devices - ensure it says "sideload" and not unauthorised
    8. In command window: adb sideload Nameless-AOSP_kebab-12.1-20220723-1310-Official.zip
    9. Click back arrow in recovery, then click "Factory reset" -> "Format data/factory reset" -> "Format data"
    10. Click back arrow in recovery, then click "Reboot to system"
If you miss a step and boot the phone it's likely not going to be stuffed. In this case, force it back to EDL mode (adb reboot edl) or hold the up + down volume buttons for ~40s and start with the MSM tool again.
