Hey dev, hope you doing well. A little request, can you rewire the setting for switch in oneplus setting where regardless of changing the option from "total silence" to "silence" or even "priority silence" shows no actual changes. I think thats a feature but then no need for option altogether.
Also can the next build be a non gapps one, if not possibly an option.

A question to all: does anyones phone heat due to nonstop usage of gms package in background (particularly this process "com.google.android.gms"). Check using bbs. I'm facing heating issues due to it.

Temps hover around 45° const(nrmlly its 37° for me). And there are spikes to 78° and 60° for short burst of time

What i tried:
Clear cache
Checked lastest version
Disable sync and also auto sync
Clean flash rom with very few apps of daily need(they are not cause of issue)
I tried rr for few days and the issue was not present. I assume the gms package is not optimised well.

Any help is appreciated;)

Same :( If I reset everything maybe ?

How I could to do a "fresh start" ? What are the steps ? Because the Google contacts sync isn't working either...

Thank you

As i recently pointed out, you have to FORMAT data partition, NOT WIPE it's not enough and you have to do it after flashing OOS on both slots before flashing this rom.

Everyone who doesn't do that will be lucky withouth having issues while there are many who have issues and never recognice that they only wiped data partition instead of formatting it.

Your issues is typical for not clean enough new rom installation.

Of course you need to store all you need on your computer or a stick to have it ready once you want to start your final installation.

If you have a Mac you can you android file transfer in twrp.

Dont' wipe system, this will possible make you end up in a "qualcomm-msm-tool" situation.

To be safer you can boot into OOS without completing the setup process just to active USB-Debugging in developer options, you never know whether it will come in handy and that way you can sideload files not only in twrp but while booted as well.

The OOS thingy is only to make sure you have the right firmware, it's a safety measure, often not needed but who knows that upfront, one would need to know the exact previous install, i.e. if you have been on Android Q already it will most probably be overkill but then it's quickly done.

To anyone who wants to help, cheap recommendations like things the man just wrote he already did it are not helpful, also it's obvious that wiping caches does not solve this kind of issue. What it takes is a clean install with data format from twrp.

Unfortunately my wife is on a business trip with the OP6, else I'd have posted some screenshots, but looks about the same like the one from "Davinci"

I posted a screenshot from my "Davinci" should be the same, use exactly that button and NO OTHER ONE but:

Make sure you have all you need to flash strored elsewhere, it will format you data partition entirely but will leave your system and vendor etc. alone.

After you have formated data you can connect a usb-cable to your other device or the device (thumbdrive) directly and copy the software you need back to you phone. Typically that would be ROM, (this rom includes gapps and recovery) Magisk if you want root and after that flash in the usual order: ROM, Magisk, wipe caches (for the sake of it) and boot into system and start your setup.

NOTE: If you flashed OOS to both slots A/B before, you won't have to do this again, firmware sticks till you flash new firmware which you don't in the process as described.

Thank you.

I send you a PM to be sure.

Sincerely

I replied to you PM while others may have the same question and nobody is free of error and can forget something, hence don't hesitate to keep it public, it's safer if others can read and eventually add something or correct an error or a miss.

Not that i'm not sure about the steps but as long as it's in the open perhaps someone else can benefit as well and once can link to the posts later if needed.

Up to you, just sharing my thoughts on the matter.

Also I'm quite busy at times hence it can take some time between replies and someone else can help out perhaps.

Apperently the issues for @zul4zr could be resolved by formatting data partition and forther proceding from scratch.

As it happens and as I'm aware of, android auto is still wonky for many if not most users while others are lucky to have a car with better compatibility than most others.

Question is whether anyone of you who had issues like screen flickering etc. and have it now working could post their specific solution for others to try whether it works for them or not.

A few month ago this was quite a common topic among lineage based custom rom communities but somehow i got the impression that most developers and maintainers gave more or less up on the matter.

I personally don't use it but others do and it would be really helpful if those who found a workaround could provide details for them to copy.

While using Android Auto, my screen would flicker on and off in an unmanageable way causing me to reboot in order to use the phone. I was able to resolve this by enabling developer options and ticking on Disable Hardware Overlays.

Note that this option turns itself off every time you reboot.... I dont know if that is un-intentional or by design.

Everything worked great after I made that change...
