Using the tablet at night in an unlit room: Livedisplay works like a charm for the screen itself, but I haven't found any intensity adjustment for the capacitive hardware buttons aside from the "light up when touched" toggle. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

That's correct. You're free to implement kernel support for that since Samsung only implemented on/off.

First of all, I would like to thank your efforts, thank you.

There are some functions with the fingerprint sensor that I would like to have and it seems basic to me:
- I have installed Lineage OS 15.1-20181015.

Use FINGER PRINT SENSOR to turn off screen and lock, and wake up screen and then unlock

I have these functions on lineageOS with the xiaomi mi5. And I would like to have these options on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 T813.
And this is the options menu:

- settings/system/Buttons/Additional bottons

Finger print as home (ON)
Finger print wake up (ON)

Finger print as home button (ON)

- home button/

wake up device (ON)
long press action: turn screen off. (ON) So i can turn off screen with the finger print.

- Then I can with the finger print turn sceen off and lock, and wake up screen and the unlock.

- Display/

Tap to wake: Double tap anywhere on the screen to wake up

BATTERY

My battery has good health, right now 101% of original capacity; 5952 mAh. When I bought it was 106%, 6246 mAh. Yeah i was lucky.

The only ROM that has managed the battery well is the original ROM that the device carried,
T813XXU2BQI1 - September 2017.
In 8 hours with the device paused, only 1% or 2% was consumed. And of course when using the device daily the battery consumption has been good.

All other official Samsung updates have been bad and getting worse with the battery.

The lieneage OS ROM when paused consumes approximately 1% battery per hour, with the wifi disconnected.

5G wifi seems to be limited to 200Mbit (checked with Fritz!App WLAN and Fritz!box 7590). It used to be 400Mbit some weeks ago. I'm not sure if it was LOS 14.1 or 15.1

Now the strange part: If charger is plugged in wifi speed rises to 400Mbit again. It drops to 200Mbit again as soon charger is unplugged.

Is that some kind of battery saving feature? Is it possible to switch it off?

Bug: Audio Offloading Build Property Causing Problems with Video Playback

In some apps that support video playback, the video time progress bar will go forward a few seconds and then jump back to zero. The video image will freeze on about the 2 or 3 second mark, however audio will continue to play. To fix this issue, I rooted the tablet, installed BuildProp Editor, and adjusted the setting audio.offload.video to false. Now videos play reliably. However after updating the ROM, the setting reverts.

REQUEST: Please set the default build flag for audio.offload.video to false for better app compatibility. I'd prefer not to root and edit this setting - and to help me support friends and family that I've converted to LineageOS.

NOTES:
I have this same problem on an 8" and 9.7" model, however I do not have it on a third 9.7" tablet...so it doesn't seem to be consistent across all devices - I don't know why.
I do not have this problem in LineageOS 14.1 but I do have it when testing LineageOS 16.0 (unofficial build).

I agree I would like to have those same fingerprint options and I've tried to find apps but I think that the kernel has to support them. I know double tap to wake is kernel supported because I have that on Nexus 6. It probably won't be possible on this tablet but maybe.

Hi there, I tried to install it on my device, but can't have it working. I flashed Rom without gapps, it's working, but when I tried to install with gapps, it only boots on TWRP. What is the gapps you used ? Can I use substratum with it ?

I tried to do substratum and was not able to get it to work. If there is a way I'd like to know. I know that Samsung needs the Samsung substratum app that's like 2 dollars but that's for regular TouchWiz themes I would have thought this would work without it. I used mircro arm 64 open gapps from yesterday and it worked fine for me. I was on res remix but for some reason after 2 reboots the damn WiFi shuts off and won't turn back on I restore it and it does it again after 2 reboots. this rom runs great it's the most stable I think.

Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/lineage-15.1-20181212-nightly-gts210vewifi-signed.zip'

Anyone knows why this is happening? Thanks.

3.1 is too old. Flash 3.2 or above for proper Oreo support.

I got the ROM working, and everything looks awesome! Thanks.
Now the only issue I have is that there is no "Ambient Display" setting in the "Display". How do I turn on Ambient Display?

I am on build of the 28. Battery life seems dramatically improved on this build (especially stand by drain). Also charging seems much faster. Great. I am afraid to update to a newer build... Anyone can confirm good battery life on newer builds?

I'm on the 29th build and am after playing games and browsing a lot 3 hours + sot only at 56% of the battery, that is better then I'm used to.

Sent from my Tab S2 9.7 using XDA Labs

Well I won't include it in my builds but if you want to swap it yourself look at sec_touchkey.kl instead.

Can you tell me where sec_touchkey.kl is located? system/usr/keylayout/ only shows generic.kl and the generic.kl file is missing the button i need to change (when compared to my tab s3 generic.kl) thanks again

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :
    • Download the latest build and gapps
    • Reboot to recovery
    • Flash the latest build and gapps

    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log

    [ cool stuff ]
I just released 8.1 builds on my AFH.

Stupid is to copy pasta something without questioning if it is working properly or is ovr throttling. There are lots of reviews, that Samsung overdid their CPU throttling for the Samsung Tab S2 with thermal testings. So this ROM is also useless I guess. I was hoping it would remove the moron throttling Samsung gave the S2 mostly for limiting it artificial to not compete with the S3.

You WILL NOT come here and disrespect our developers. Please keep your negative comments to yourself.

You been warned and to the rest, back on topic.

    -news-
Latest builds support sdcardfs, that should improve internal storage performance :3
I may port it over to 14.1 when I'll be bored enough to do it.

Let me know if you find any new issues that weren't in previous releases.
    7
Obviously not a lot has been ported to Lineage so please don't report issues like: "broken buttons backlight". That will be ported over soon (TM).
Also you need custom TWRP build to install these packages, you can find link in the OP.

BTW: You might have to force reboot after the gapps installation is complete as the unofficial installer is bit buggy ( you can do that by holding power, vol down ). Also it doesn't support addon.d so it doesn't persist when updating to next builds.
