CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled ROMs, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best ROM we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.

Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub...

What is PAX?
Our release of Android 10, titled CR-8.0, is codenamed PAX after the latin word for peace and Pax, the roman godess for peace.
PAX provides you with the features you need while keeping the focus on delivering an elegant, smooth, and well polished experience. PAX delivers a set of unique features, like a systemwide font engine that also allows for applying fonts on user apps while supporting user fonts through custom APKs generated on fonts.carbonrom.org. We are confident you'll love it, and there's many more things to discover ;)

Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! As always, make sure to do backups.

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:

1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has addressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server or Telegram group! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.

Thank you for your continuous support of this model.
Would it be possible to tweak the image so it would be possible to use with larger partitions without manual work? I have a 3gb system partition and I have to manually modify the script and then resize the filesystem. For this reason I am not able to use your automatic updater.
Thank you...

Also, the thumbnail images of the photos when viewed on PC are screwed if taken with opengapps camera.
If the system partition is really 3GB then updater should work. I've only 1.4 GB system partition and always use the updater without any issues - in fact I'm using it right now to update to 02 Sep build.

If I were you, I would start from scratch and then report back.

Regarding photos thumbnails - report it to Open Camera.

This ROM is pretty smooth! If anyone has problems flashing bigger OpenGapps packages, I found the tip to use an OpenGapp release older than the ROM release to be the solution to successfully installing it. Or else, the phone will be stuck in the boot animation. I used the stock OpenGapps package with a lot of apps excluded to fit within the system partition so that might also be part of the problem.

On another note, does anyone have a problem with the Network selection? I am using a T-Mobile MVNO but the MVNO is not found when Preferred Network Type is LTE/3G. It is only found when Network type is 2G. But once it is found and registered on 2G, the phone can use 3G with no problem whatsoever, maybe except that the Network operator states T-Mobile instead of the MVNO and Voicemail notifications aren't working. When the SIM is inserted in a Stock 4.4.4 Nexus 4, it works correctly.

Is anyone else's sensors not working with this ROM? I mean almost everything: brightness, proximity, gyroscope, etc. Everything works fine on stock so I know it isn't my hardware.... Help?

Try my method if you haven't read the whole thread yet.
Thanks for the help. Have it all working now. Totally weird that installing other ROMS first should matter, though... for me installing the Carbon 7.0 first worked. But now I can reflash 8.0 after wiping everything, including /vendor and /system and the internal memory... and resinstall Carbon 8.0 directly... and everything still works. What the ^$%#&did installing Carbon ROM 7 first change?!

Anyway, thanks for the tip.

Do we know if our beloved Nexus 4 will see Android 11?
it's crazy to think that Google stopped supporting it in 2014 after Lolipop 5.1.1 and yet, by the effort of some dedicated hardcore developers, we are still getting the latest software and security updates.

I don't think so - at least I'm not trying as the phone if almost dead now - screen was already acting up and battery is not lasting. It's shutting down abruptly.

Moreover not getting time to work on this stuff.

I just wanted to thank you for this ROM.
@nitin.chobhe and all carbon team.
Though it is old and probably most of us use it as a secondary device, some might not afford a new device or doesn’t need one. Especially Nexus 4 is still fine for some business use as 2nd phone (like calls, SMS and Whatsapp) and still enough for older people who doesn’t use all features.

I don’t know how hard or easy it would be to port Android 11 but I am really grateful for Android 10 support.
There are still people using Nexus 4 and I even prefer it some relatively newer Android devices, so would be really happy if I can see continuous support. But I respect the team’s decision if they don’t want to continue to support it any longer.

Hi, to those people experiencing "black" display in call and various issues with the dialer app locking the screen - I would suggest checking this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/solved-how-to-disable-nexus-4-proximity-t2558878. It is most likely the proximity sensor's issue. In my case I replaced the display and touch panel and after that the hole in the plastic frame between the screen and the sensor chamber lost its shape, which made the sensor to always operate as if there was something in the proximity. After slightly extending the hole the issue was fixed.

... And that departments properly settings that are available.

n.e.
- Too short delay screenshot. The Screenshot.png contains a menu power.
- No custom work schedule Night Light (i.e. running but does not include the setting time)
- Name ROM is not recognized while taking backup in TWRP, TWRP so allocates only the current date.
- Carbon ROM without a black interface is not real carbon.

Very, very early version.

Let's wait with the assessment of ROM. After several subsequent editions see if the developers bring change and in what direction.

Moo!

Is yellowish color of the night off at you outside the hours of the night?

My time is 18:00. After turning colors night color change to yellowish, but then the colors should change from 22:00.

My 1.3 MB video

-------------------

Screenshot does not work well through the power key.

My 1.2 MB video.

You didn't understand the feature of night light. When you select the custom schedule, then you should not enable it manually. Enabling it manually overrides the custom schedule. So set a custom schedule and then check if it works or not (and it works :silly:)

About screenshot, it works on my end. Are you using any custom kernel/ changing the CPU freqs?

Yes, now I understand how works this switch status Night Light on/off, on-screen Night Light. :silly:

I use ROM in its pure form after a clean install. Without adds.

The correct screenshot is performed only once after the first execution.
Next screenshot perform the imposed view of power menu.

After rebooting the system, I can again perform the correct screenshot, but also only once.
Next screenshot perform the imposed view of power menu.

It is not important function. Making a screenshot by tile would work reliably.
ROM works very well.
