Why is this thread still open if the links are all dead?

You can learn more about this by searching the thread and reviewing recent pages but...

Such is the nature of development. Official builds from the original developer ceased, hence broken links, then and other developer picked up unofficial development. In that context, without official builds this thread becomes more important. In fact that is one of the ways we can keep in touch with the state of things.

I understand, sorry if I came as someone that complained doing nothing.
Thanks for your kind reply.

No worries. Many of us are eager for it and it's been a rough go for some LOS devices lately. A confluence of circumstances including the timing of Android updates and some structural changes at LOS, left many devices off the build rosters. At one point it was down to only three Motorola devices.

Yeah I figure, well.
So far I'm struggling with the freaking modem/bands of the phone and the regions and who knows what else, that decided to not work, at all.

Because Moto G 2015 (osprey) is no longer maintained by LOS Team, I built an unofficial LineageOS-based ROM (LOS 14.1).
I followed the instructions on the official link (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/osprey/build) without adding anything more.

Download:
lineage-14.1-20191201-UNOFFICIAL-osprey.zip (and md5su file): https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=302722&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC
==> The latest changes of LOS 14.1: https://www.lineageoslog.com/14.1 .... including the November security updates.
Official LOS addon SU (arm): https://download.lineageos.org/extras
Open GAPPs (arm): pico or nano is strongly recommended.
TWRP : a custom recovery (see OP - https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=11051#downloads)
This unofficial build requires a clean flash (Format Data + Full wipe) if you come from the official one.
You can use Migrate app (Migrate - custom ROM migration tool - Google play) for the migration:
==> https://www.xda-developers.com/migrate-app-switch-custom-roms/
I will try to build monthly for osprey… Hope so !

New build online:
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=303236&sort_by=date&sort_dir=DESC or https://androidfilehost.com/?w=profile&uid=4349826312261606582
==> Latest changes of LOS 14.1: https://www.lineageoslog.com/14.1

Note Google dropped support for Android 7.1.2 and didn't release any security updates for Android 7.xx in November/December 2019 and January 2020.
Some reading about Android security patchs: https://source.android.com/security/bulletin
so no more builds?

How odd it is to be repeatedly asking for new build even as a new developer is keeping the ROM alive by providing just that - new build right there in the post to which you replied. We are lucky to have any development and such idle nagging could serve no purpose other than frustrate developers and testers. I would suggest that, if you are interested in different new builds or a faster pace of new builds, you learn to build ROMs or test and contribute viable bug reports.

[EDIT]Just realized we were both in a discussion about this within the past few months. Nothing has changed since then. squid2 does seem to remain active and the Moto G 2015 is still listed in his profile so maybe he will return to development here someday. Meanwhile we are fortunate enough to have someone else contributing builds. Nice problem to have.

Okay, let me clarify... I may not be boasting any recognized contributer tags below my name but I have been around here for a long time.. I know the rules and ethics around here.. And then there are guys like U.. You parachute to any thread where some random guy enquires about builds and Y'all hurries to write a paragraph about how someone should behave to devs, thats so pathetic and awkward... U have to stop doing that.. As of right now, I saw a dead thread and I was about to flash older los posted in here. Just thought about asking the dev if he is building something newer so that I could decide whether to flash an old one or wait... He gratuitously posted the latest build and I was so happy and thankful.. But along with it, our excellent dev said that Google dropped Nougat support and there weren't any security updates for last few months.. Without security updates, I see no reason to maintain an android version so old as nougat.. So I asked him whether he plans on dropping Nougat builds because I see no point in building it anymore.. It isn't my fault that U read it as asking for an ETA.. Stop preaching members and try to help... No offense intended..

... parachute to any thread where some random guy enquires about builds ..

Having nothing to to with titles; I'll concede that I can sometimes be needlessly hard-a$$ and that perhaps I've done so here but... After having hiked here on the ground over 4 years ago and having a 10 year history of posting in threads only where I've got a reason to be involved it is almost amusing to be accused of parachuting into any thread, especially by someone who seems themselves to be hanging from a tree by their own parachute cords while asking those on the ground if it is safe to drop down... but this is off topic so onward to PM.

[EDIT] Getting back on topic and to your point about official dev: A review of the build build roster (and a recollection of some post I read a while ago) does indeed indicate that LOS 14.x dev is completely done for all devices, as opposed to just being done for one device and waiting for a new maintainer. All devices on the roster are now LOS 15 and LOS 16: https://github.com/LineageOS/hudson/blob/master/lineage-build-targets. So any future development would be along the lines of what @Eric_Lev is doing and if squid2 picks the device up again it would be for LOS 15 or 16 if anything. Just my guess.

    Code:
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     */
    This works only on XT1540, XT1541, XT1542, XT1543, XT1544, XT1548 and XT1550.

    LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1.2 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Working
    • Boots
    • RIL (Calls, SMS, Data)
    • Wifi
    • Bluetooth
    • Camera
    • Video Playback
    • VoLTE

    Not Working/Bugs
    • /

    Installation
    Requires Unlocked Bootloader & a custom recovery

    1. Place ROM & Gapps in your virtual SD
    2. Reboot in Bootloader Mode
    3. Go to "Recovery" (Vol +/Vol -) and confirm (power)
    4. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
    5. Wipe Dalvik cache
    6. Install the ROM zip
    7. DO NOT REBOOT
    8. Install the Gapps zip (optional)
    9. Reboot

    N.B. Official LineageOS builds are unrooted, if you want this feature back flash su (arm) (available here) then enable root access from Settings -> Developer options.
    Unroot is even easier, just flash "su removal" package available at the previous linked page.

    Does it now support VoLTe? Because the aosp ROM still doesn't
    Did you really subscribe just to ask this? And you aren't the only one I see...

    How many times do you need to repeat that question? Think about that, I'm closing the thread for some days

    It does seem that the question comes mainly from clowns members with very few posts (often just 1) and from a specific region.

    Not much we can do apart from deleting as they appear. I would request that other members who enjoy the normal interaction/collaboration in this thread avoid responding to the VOLTE and ETA Spam-ish posts and let me just delete them. I know the temptation to lambast them is high!!! You can probably guess what I would LIKE to say to them...

    Cheers

    I'm releasing an unofficial LineageOS build which should improve GPS thanks to working Glonass. It should also have fixed the data toggling issue, let me know please. Additionally it includes updated sdcardfs, wlan drivers and fixes many security holes.
    I didn't actually want to release this because it's not yet clear if we will provide upgrading paths from CM14.1 (read dirty flash) or not but people already built it, so it doesn't matter anymore. Also I really wanted to know if the data issue is finally fixed since I wasn't able to reproduce it many times here.
    I'm going to rename the thread once official LineageOS builds starts. Hopefully it's clearer for those who still can't understand that we are just rebranding. Same people, same code but different name and infrastructures.
