Hey! I have a question. If I update via Motorola OTA service, will it break the ROM like bootloop or something? Motorola Update Services keeps bugging me to update.

The attached zip can be flashed in TWRP and will solve the issue. However it is thorough, and will break support for Moto Gallery - other apps should be fine.

Are you rooted? You could manually remove the files/folders:

Start with:
/system/priv-app/3c_ota
/system/priv-app/3c_notification
/system/etc/security/otacerts.zip

If issue persists, delete:
/system/app/3c_main
/system/priv-app/3c_checkin
/system/priv-app/3c_devicemanagement
/system/priv-app/3c_sso

Hi Dev! That zip as you explained can cause Moto gallery app to break. If I manually disable OTA service using above method, will it also break gallery app?

I used the term 'thorough' - suggesting removing all files may not be necessary.

Freezing (google: freeze android system app) or deleting /system/priv-app/3c_ota/3c_ota.apk may be enough.

You must flash these ROMs exactly as described in first post. A factory reset in TWRP is not good enough.

I didn't clear internal memory... Thanks!!

I always do clean installations... Advanced wipe>data,system,cache,dalvik cache... And then installation of rom..

Do as the instructions for installation. Wipe>Format Data. Then factory reset.
(Backup all your data before formatting as it clears any data like photos, music, documents etc.)
Place ROM in sdcard and install.

The Untouched ROMs are simply the Fastboot Factory Firmware Images turned into TWRP flash-able zips. Bootloader and Radio firmware are not included.

Getting good battery life on Untouched version of 6.0.1 for Merlin.

Excelent battery and memory.
I tried installing the optimized version XT1550 and an error appeared in TWRP
Waiting for XT1543 optimized version for tests.

It's proving more complicated than I had hoped to produce Optimized versions of these ROMs. I don't have access to an Osprey handset to resolve the issues. At this stage there is a sense of futility around basing work off of these ageing firmware images

Right now any time/motivation I have left is focused elsewhere, working with someone on a project that should benefit the Osprey community more than the proposed Optimized ROMs. I'm sorry, but I feel now I have to reduce this thread to Stock Untouched ROMs only.

Getting good battery life on my Merlin running on Stock untouched.

@lost101 Hey there! I want to ask your opinion on this. Whenever I try to charge my Merlin using the Turbocharger, it charges for a while, then stops charging. And if I keep using the phone while charging, it doesnt charge at all and battery decreases eventually. But it does shows the charging icon. However, when I turn my phone off and then charge, it charges perfectly. One thing I also noticed is when I use some other charger (standard not turbp), my phone charges perfectly whether I am using it or not.
I want to ask if the charger is defective or the battery is acting up?
Sorry for long question but I really need your help on this one. If anybody else knows about it, please reply. Thanks.
