I actually want the roms to be perfect so I don't mind following more steps for instructions through pm if u have some for dummies so I won't sound like a noob getting embarrassed. Don't worry I won't be a smart ass about it or offensive in any way. If this works out for someone like me who is able to fix it then it will be shared with everyone else and u will be considered a genius imo
you can PM me the exact problems you face, exact means how and when things happen. After that i try to reproduce it which is why i need to know which apps you have running when issues occur and generally as many details as possible.

Thing is that VERY often things are either compatibility issues and/or app/setup/user space related and not making sense at first glance.

Also at times terms are relative. Someone can see a lag and compare to his last phone and somone else can make a hardware (cpu, gpu etc.) assessment and see the so called lag as obviously normal for the hardware at play.

I've really seen people complaining about lags and stuttering while playing heavy games on devices with mediocre GPU/GPU combos and asking for solutions, so we have to make absolutely sure that the culprit is not the app(s) in use etc.

The best way to start troubleshooting would be to install the ROM naked with only root if needed and test performance. In case it's bad (problem occurs) we would start with the kernel settings, if it performs well you'd start to add your user apps in increments and observe after which increment the trouble begins, which means, it must be an app/setting changed/added in that last batch that is most probably the culprit.

To avoid multiple clean setups you'd better make nandroid backups after as small as possible steps to be able to revert to last working and go from there.

I recommend to start like this. In case you prefer to seek the needle in a heystack, means to start troubleshooting with a fully setup device, we have to see how far we get the number of possible culprits is increasing exponentially and a sophisticated setup ends with a very steep climb, means every single change opens up an endless number of new possible combos that could cause an issue.

However just send PMs and give me time to reply since i'm a busy person spending a lot of time offline while on the move.

EDIT:

I've seen your PM and replied

Perhaps the low mic issue can be fixed through mixer_paths.xml in system/vendor/etc, tried fiddling around with the audio policy but the hanset mic line seem too complex to understand. I say this because fixing the mic problem was alot easier then using mixer_paths.xml, but the paths do not have values ranging from 0 -100. It looks like something is missing.

Headset Mic is more sensitive when changing the volume value to a higher value using DEC1,2,3,4 in the "volume controls" section near the top of the list inside the XML file.

Handset Mic does not have a value # near the end of the bottom of the XML list..It only have the corresponding DEC # typed in.

Anyone installed the latest version?
yes, for me it works without issues and the mention sdcard issue is only new if one did not recognized the significant lag once an sdcard was used any time with any buil in the past.

i use 2 sims and they werk perfectly well.

since nobody will ever use all the features at the same time this can only be a personal experience for my use case,
even though my use case is very demanding and sophisticated at any time ;) and as owner of 5 devices i can
easily compare between them and therefore i say that this rom on this device is as close to perfection as it can get, no complaints from my side

I agree whith you. This roms is the best one right now. But i have found, a single issue.

Screen mirror. Have a little bug, that push you to turn off you phone sometimes.

Other than that, everything is perfect.

I cant wait for next update for this rom :victory:

thanks for the feedback, as hinted in my post, sreen mirror is not one of the features i'm using, it's very "niche" and niche-issues often dodge
being fixed due to lack of demand/complaints.

I'm sure there are other minor bugs, i.e. as far as i know FM-Radio never worked on any Custom Rom ( just my impression, did not test them all LOL)

however, verdict remains, is a very good rom and has been for a long time, really happy to have this on this only remainng decent 18:9 device which is why i bought it. huge but narrow screens that make the keyboard small and add space where i don't need it are not very useful to me. I hope that sooner or later there will be 16:9 or at last 18:9 aspect ratio devices back, once the "fake-inch" hype is over ;)

this device with an AMOLED would be my dream + this rom of course, can't stand MIUI, cannot warm-up with it. ;) ;)

I can agree to disagree that the lastest is perfect, volume mic is either "too low or too sensitive" when adjusting (after testing in both 64gb and 128gb variant). From the last builds, not sure of this build would be any different ever since the summer. The low mic volume problem is an old issue and can only be manually toggle via kernel app, the sensitivity of the mic can be random and can have feedback noise on the other end while using a messenger app. Basically the problem forces the user to speaker way louder than usual.

It's just to give some facts in case someone asks, so if new users think they can put up with that, so be it. Magna fails to address that issue unfortunately

I'm currently looking at the new build 20200118 to see if there's any change but the the device ends up with an endless bootanimation even with the required firmware.

Since android 10 based trees has started since Jan. 4th. Just wait it out and use something that works for you.

January security patch on this rom appears to be infected with software snoopsnitch : CVE-2019-1988
Regards
a) no there is no such app on my device

b) better ask than jumping to conclusions

c) snoop snitch is not an infestation even when installed, on the contrary, it's a very useful app that needs root to
. let users know whether they are traced through silent SMS among othe things

so next time i recommend to read about an app first before calling it an infestation, than ask if anyone else has the same app
installed on this device and then it has nothing to do with the security update. if anything it would be the rom version.

so the resume says that almost anything was wrong with your post, interestingly i just recently thought to install that app because it was widely recommended in security aware circles recently.

Is this rom still receive update?
Im want to flash it.
a) if a rom would work pefectly well, would you not use it because it needs not updates?
- would you choose a mediocre rom just because it receives updates ?

that said:

go to the first page of this thread, click on the download link and check the dates, there you will easily find the information you are
looking for. If there are regular and not too distant builds the answer will be yes, there are updates, if the last build is months old the
answer is perhaps, most probably not, while asking for ETAs is frowended upon, hence a final answer is at times hard to receive.

this reply is applicable to any piece of software, sometimes devs give up on XDA due to sometimes a bit "political" happenings ;) ;)

as it happens some would say, why not give a short ans simple (spoon feeding) answer?

my take on this is that i tend to reply in a manner that allows users to help themselves in the future, means more sutainable replies.

enjoy and good luck

Hi, I can't flash this rom with an error
Code:
nitrogen.verify_trustzone("TZ.BF.4.0.7-00142") == "1"
Oh, I found the problem. I was flashing the old firmware, the one from the first post in this thread. I used the new firmware from github and it worked. Thank you.

Hi MrColdbird, I am trying to compile android myself, using your repositories. (BTW, amazing work!) Getting some error.

I have set up a build environment, I use the repo
Code:
repo init -u git://github.com/AOSiP/platform_manifest.git -b pie
I added your repos:
Code:
[email protected]:~/android/aosip$ cat .repo/local_manifests/nitrogen.xml
<manifest>
        <!-- remote name="github" fetch="https://github.com/" /-->

        <project name="Black-Seraph/device_xiaomi_nitrogen"
                path="device/xiaomi/nitrogen"
                remote="github"
                revision="pie-aosip" />

        <project name="Black-Seraph/kernel_xiaomi_nitrogen"
                path="kernel/xiaomi/nitrogen"
                remote="github"
                revision="MIUI-OC-P" />

        <project name="black-seraph/vendor_xiaomi_nitrogen"
                path="vendor/xiaomi/nitrogen"
                remote="github"
                revision="pie" />

        <project name="black-seraph/vendor_MiuiCamera"
                path="vendor/MiuiCamera"
                remote="github"
                revision="pie-nitrogen" />
</manifest>
Then I run:
Code:
repo sync
source build/envsetup.sh
lunch aosip_nitrogen-userdebug
mka kronic
The build fails with
Code:
...
device/xiaomi/nitrogen/parts/res/values/styles.xml:34: error: resource layout/preference_category_material_settings (aka org.lineageos.settings:layout/preference_category_material_settings) not found.
device/xiaomi/nitrogen/parts/res/values/styles.xml:45: error: resource layout/preference_material_settings (aka org.lineageos.settings:layout/preference_material_settings) not found.
error: failed linking references.
Am I perhaps missing something?
